Umm....guys just....
"What are you doing?!"
Keifer asked, trying his absolute best to sound authoritative, cold, and deadly serious, but his raspy, panicked voice cracked embarrassingly right at the end.
Is he... is he going to rape me?!
Keifer thought, a massive, painful lump forming in his throat as he swallowed hard, his mind racing through every worst-case scenario imaginable.
The man simply shifted the delivery van into gear and stepped hard on the gas pedal.
"Don't worry~"
he purred softly, his dark eyes scanning Keifer from head to toe like he was looking at an absolute gourmet meal fresh off the grill.
"I just want to help you... or maybe...
I also want to spend some quality time with you.
Take a nice... long ride... on... I mean, with you~"
He flashed a downright scandalous look, sliding his plump, manicured hand over and placing his palm squarely onto Keifer's upper thigh.
Keifer froze.
His breath hitched completely.
His dark eyes slowly trailed down to the hand resting on his leg, then snapped back up in absolute horror.
The driver locked eyes with him-and winked.
"NO!"
Keifer yelled in sheer terror, violently smacking the man's hand off his leg with enough force to make his own palm sting.
"Y-You... stay away from me!
And... and open this door!
I don't want to spend time or... or ri-ride with you!"
"Oh, seriously?"
the driver asked, tilting his head with a dramatically pouting lip as he pointed out the windshield
-where two police cruisers were currently speeding past the delivery van with their sirens blaring loudly into the morning air.
Keifer slumped back into the leather seat, burying his sweating face in his hands.
Oh God!
It would have been so much better to just go to lockup with the police... UGHHH!
"Fine!"
Keifer snapped, glaring at him with pure venom.
"Just drive!
But stay away from me!"
The driver blushed furiously, biting his lower lip and flashing another flirtatious wink as he accelerated down the road.
For the next fifteen minutes,
it was absolute, unadulterated torture for the CEO.
The driver kept mysteriously "losing his balance" on every single turn, his hand repeatedly sliding onto Keifer's knee or brushing "accidental" strokes against his thigh.
"Oops! Sorry, handsome, bad brakes!"
he'd coo in a sugary voice.
"That was a completely straight line!"
Keifer would yell back, swatting his hand away like a madman, pressing his broad back as close to the passenger door as humanly possible, practically gluing himself to the window.
Finally, the van screeched to a sudden, dramatic halt-
but when Keifer anxiously looked out the window, his blood ran bone-cold.
They were not at the hospital main entrance.
They were parked in a deserted, quiet side-alley behind a row of abandoned warehouses.
"This is NOT the hospital!"
Keifer yelled, aggressively swatting the driver's stray hand away from his knee once again.
"Yes, but... you promised that you would give me whatever I want, right?"
the driver purred, turning his whole body around in the seat to face him directly.
"Y-Yes, but..."
"Then keep your promise~"
"What do you want?!"
Keifer demanded, pure panic rising in his chest all over again.
"I don't have anything on me right now!
No wallet, no watch, no cash, nothing!"
"You have exactly what I want right now..."
the man said softly, his eyes shamelessly scanning Keifer's broad chest and messy, windblown hair.
Keifer instantly threw both arms tightly over his exposed chest, his eyes widening to the size of saucers.
"WHAT?!"
"Ummm..."
The driver suddenly covered his face behind his palms, giggling and blushing like a bashful, love-struck teenage girl.
Keifer made the most utterly terrified, horrified, and traumatized face he had ever made in his entire existence.
"CAN YOU JUST SAY IT FAST?!"
Keifer bellowed at the top of his lungs, the veins popping out on his neck as he practically vibrated with impatience and.....terror.
"MY WIFE IS IN LABOR!"
"Umm... yes, ummm... that's..."
The man bit his index finger between his teeth, fluttering his glittery eyelashes dramatically.
"A... kiss!"
(Ok author don't know anything of you! 🙂🙈)
Keifer froze dead in his seat.
His brain completely short-circuited.
The world around him stopped spinning, and all background noise vanished into absolute silence.
"WHATTTTTTT?!"
"Yes!"
"NO!"
"Yes!"
"NO!"
"Yes!"
"NOOOO!"
"You promised!"
the driver pouted, crossing his arms and huffing.
"Will you break your promise?!"
"UGHHHHH!"
Keifer groaned out loud, dragging both hands down his face in complete, agonizing despair.
He looked at the driver's expectant face.
He looked at his own ruined, dirt-covered clothes.
He looked at the locked door, and then at the driver's hand, which was already starting to creep slowly toward his thigh again.
Keifer shut his eyes tightly, his heart hammering violently against his ribs like a trapped bird.
Jay needs you,
he screamed at himself internally, trying to summon every ounce of courage he possessed.
You have to do this!
You have to survive this!
For Jay... for our baby!
He let out a long, heavy, utterly defeated breath.
"Ok,"
Keifer said, opening his eyes to face his absolute worst nightmare.
Keifer closed his eyes, cringing so hard his entire body trembled.
He leaned forward slightly, puffing his lips out like a doomed man facing a firing squad.
"Make it quick!"
Keifer grumbled through squeezed lips.
The driver gasped in sheer delight, squealing like a teenager.
"Oh, handsome, you won't regret this!"
He leaned in close, closing his eyes, puckering his bright red lips, and reaching his hands out toward Keifer's neck.
Keifer peeked through one eye, saw those lipstick-coated lips coming at him, and his brain went into absolute survival overload.
NOPE. NOT HAPPENING.
Before the man's lips could touch him, Keifer leaned forward-
and slammed his forehead straight into the driver's nose with a brutal CRACK!
"AAAAAGH! MY NOSE!"
the driver shrieked, clutching his face in utter agony as tears sprang to his eyes.
In that exact second of chaos, Keifer's broad hand slammed onto the central console, forcefully slapping the master unlock button.
CLICK!
Keifer didn't wait a single microsecond.
He yanked the passenger door open, tumbled out of the van onto the pavement, and scrambled back up onto his feet like a wild animal.
"FORGIVE ME! I'LL SEND YOU A MILLION DOLLARS LATER!"
Keifer yelled over his shoulder as he sprinted out of the alley at full speed.
He ran three entire blocks, his lungs burning, his legs practically numb, his messy hair flying wildly in the wind.
He didn't care that he looked like a madman-
he just kept running.
He came out of the alley,
his heart beating wildly against his ribs, breathing heavily as he rubbed his face with both hands, hot tears welling up in his eyes, right on the verge of spilling over.
"I'm sorry, Jay... baby,"
a single tear finally rolled down his cheek, his voice breaking with deep, agonizing despair.
"I might... not be able to attend your birth..."
A ragged sob escaped his mouth, tearing through his chest.
"I'm the worst father in the world... a father who couldn't even make it to his own child's birth.
The worst husband who couldn't even stand by his wife when she's..."
He couldn't even finish the sentence.
He looked up at the grey sky, took a deep, shaky inhale to steady his shattering nerves, aggressively wiped the wetness from his face, and lifted his gaze ahead.
But then....his eyes fell on something.
Directly in front of him, towering against the skyline, was a massive, familiar building.
Hospital...
"AAAAAAA! PALETHRA HOSPITALLLLLL!"
he yelled at the top of his lungs, his voice cracking with pure, unadulterated ecstasy as he threw his hands up in the air like a man who had just won the lottery.
Without a second thought,
Keifer ran straight through the main entrance of Palethra Hospital.
He bolted right up to the reception desk, his chest heaving, hair sticking up in wild spikes, and dusty clothes torn at the seams.
"Jaspher Jean Mariano!"
he panted out desperately, slamming both hands onto the smooth marble counter.
"She's in labor!
What room is she in?!"
The receptionist slowly lifted her head from her computer screen.
She scanned him from head to toe-taking in his scratched face, dirty knees, missing shirt buttons, and total lack of basic hygiene-with a look of utter disgust.
He was looking handsome but...poor handsome and somewhere handsome without money.....wasn't her thing.
She scoffed, curling her top lip in judgment.
"Sir, this is a top-tier private medical facility, not a homeless shelter,"
she said condescendingly, crossing her arms.
"I suggest you step back before I-"
"I DON'T GIVE A DAMN WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE!"
Keifer shouted, his voice echoing loudly through the grand, polished lobby.
He squeezed his eyes shut, taking a deep, shaky breath to forcibly calm his frantic nerves.
"Look, please... just check the system.
Jaspher Jean Mariano.
My wife is literally giving birth right now!"
"Security! Please remove this crazy man from the premises immediately."
Two burly security guards stepped forward, grabbing Keifer by both arms to drag him out.
"Get your hands off me!"
Keifer snarled, trying to shake them off.
He punched one of them, making him fall away on chair.
As more security ran towards him to catch him....
"HEY! Let him go!"
a loud, booming voice shouted from across the lobby.
Aries and Percy came sprinting down the tiled corridor, shoving their way past the guards.
"Are you guys blind or what?!"
Aries barked at the security team, standing tall in front of Keifer.
"This man is Mark Keifer Watson!"
The receptionist smirked, clearly not believing a single word.
"Yeah, sure. And he decided to show up to his own wife's delivery looking like he survived a hurricane on a stolen bike."
Before she could utter another word, a cheerful, energetic voice chimed in from the VIP elevator bay.
"Hi, boss~!"
Ci-en, dressed in a sleek, customized doctor's lab coat, came bouncing toward them with a huge grin on his face.
The owner of Palethra Hospital-and a core member of Section E-didn't hesitate for a second.
He lunged forward and threw his arms tightly around Keifer in a dramatic, suffocating hug.
"Ughhh! Ci-en, get off me!
Stay away!"
Keifer groaned out, trying to push the energetic doctor off his bruised chest.
"I missed you so much, boss!"
Ci-en chirped, hugging him even tighter like a giant leech.
"Look at you, all rough and rugged! Did you walk through a war zone to get here?!"
"Yes what happened to you?", Aries ask raising a brow.
"That's a long story, I'll tell you later.", Keifer sighed.
"It's ok boss, I can still hug You," Cn said as he cling to him more.
"Hey! Back off, you shorty!"
Percy snapped, grabbing Keifer by the shoulder and forcibly pulling him out of Ci-en's grip and into his own protective side-hug.
"Stay away from him, he's my baby!
He's been through enough trauma today without you suffocating him!"
"Excuse me?! I own this entire hospital, Percy!"
Ci-en gasped dramatically, resting a hand over his chest.
"I can hug my boss whenever I want!
And can throw you out of here too!"
"Oh really? You can?!"
Percy shot back, sticking his tongue out.
"WILL BOTH OF YOU SHUT UP?!"
Aries roared, his booming voice cutting right through their petty squabbling.
He pointed an angry finger toward the elevators.
"Jay is upstairs screaming her lungs out! Take us to her room RIGHT NOW!"
Keifer's face suddenly fell, a painful, heavy lump forming in his throat.
He looked down at his dirty shoes, his voice barely a whisper.
"I... I think I'm too late.
It took me so long to get here... our baby must have already been born without me..."
Ci-en chuckled softly, shaking his head.
"Nope! You're actually right on time, boss.
I'm literally on my way up to handle her delivery right now.
Her original doctor had an urgent emergency with another high-risk patient, so I personally stepped in to take over."
Keifer's eyes instantly lit up with raw, pure happiness.
"Really?! She hasn't delivered yet?!"
"Not yet! She's waiting for you!
Also that pain was just a cramp, but real labor is going to start soon too!"
Ci-en grinned.
"Then what the hell are we waiting for?!
Take me to her fast!"
Keifer demanded, his energy completely restored.
The four of them turned on their heels and started sprinting toward the VIP elevators.
But halfway there, Ci-en suddenly stopped dead in his tracks.
He turned his head slowly, looking back over his shoulder at the stunned receptionist standing behind the marble counter.
Ci-en pointed a sharp finger directly at her.
"YOU ARE FIRED."
The receptionist froze, the color draining from her face instantly.
"S-Sir... but... w-why?!"
"Because you judged someone strictly by their appearance instead of doing your job,"
Ci-en said coldly, his cheerful demeanor vanishing for a brief second.
"Pack your things. You're done here."
The receptionist stood there in absolute, horrified shock, her mouth hanging open as she tried to plead, but nobody listened.
Without looking back, Ci-en, Aries, Percy, and a completely chaotic Keifer piled into the elevator, racing straight up to Jay's delivery room.
