Lin Feng deepened the kiss, capturing Bai Wei's lower lip and passionately devouring it. Without missing a beat, Bai Wei responded in kind, claiming Lin Feng's upper lip as his own.

They kissed like that for what felt like an eternity, completely losing track of time. The moment Lin Feng's tongue slid past Bai Wei's lips to explore deeper, Bai Wei let out a soft, muffled moan, "Mhmm..." But Lin Feng didn't give him a chance to catch his breath.

Wrapping his arms tightly around Bai Wei, Lin Feng lifted him effortlessly by the hips. Instinctively, Bai Wei threw his arms around Lin Feng's neck, clinging to him tightly so he wouldn't fall.

The kiss only grew hungrier. Lin Feng continuously explored his mouth, and as Bai Wei matched his urgent rhythm, the passion between them flared even hotter. They kissed with a desperate, breathless intensity, moving together in perfect sync.

Without breaking their connection, Lin Feng carried him toward the bed and gently pressed his body down against the mattress. Lin Feng immediately followed, hovering over him and caging Bai Wei in with his legs.

His dark eyes were completely intoxicated by the sight of the man beneath him. He stared at Bai Wei with a burning intensity. Pinned to the bed, Bai Wei was breathing heavily, his chest rising and falling rapidly after kissing like crazy.

Unable to hold back, Lin Feng moved again, capturing Bai Wei's mouth in another fierce, demanding kiss. As their lips crashed together, Lin Feng's hands finally wandered, urgently beginning to loosen Bai Wei's clothes.

Lin Feng finished loosening the outer ties. Bai Wei reached up and pulled him down the rest of the way, so there was no space left between them.

The blue lantern on the table dimmed on its own as the warming formation rose a little higher. The light from the aurora outside turned the ice walls a soft violet.

Lin Feng removed the last of their clothing. Now they were completely bare, embraced by nothing but each other. Bai Wei could feel the heat of Lin Feng's body and the fast pounding of his heart against his own.

Lin Feng looked at Bai Wei with an intense gaze, silently asking for permission. Bai Wei answered with a nod.

Lin Feng did what he had been holding back from doing. In one swift motion they came together, and both of them were swept up in the moment. It did not last long because Lin Feng was too worked up. He tried to pull back, but Bai Wei grabbed his neck and held him close, not letting him go until it was over.

Afterward, Lin Feng fell back onto the bed without hesitation, breathing hard and still holding onto Bai Wei.

They stayed like that for a long time, just holding each other, talking in low voices between kisses. The heavy sect robes they always wore were finally set aside on the chair, forgotten.

Lin Feng kept his arms around Bai Wei the whole night, as if he was afraid he would disappear if he let go. Bai Wei rested his head on Lin Feng's chest and listened to his heartbeat until his own breathing slowed.

The city below kept moving, but in that top room of the Frostheart Pavilion, it was quiet. The two of them did not sleep much. They spent the night learning how to be close without any walls between them.

By morning, the blankets were a mess, their clothes were still on the floor, and the first light of Binglan Star was coming through the ice window. They were still tangled together, warm and tired, with Lin Feng's hand still holding Bai Wei's.

The next morning, Lin Feng woke up first. When he saw Bai Wei still asleep in his arms, he chuckled quietly, then leaned down and kissed his forehead gently.

He got up from the bed carefully so he would not wake him. He washed up, then took a fresh set of robes from his space pouch and dressed.

After that, he went downstairs to the main hall of the Frostheart Pavilion and ordered breakfast for both of them. When he returned to the room carrying the tray, he saw that Bai Wei was already awake. He had also washed up and changed into completely new clothes, and he was sitting by the window waiting for Lin Feng.

Lin Feng set the tray down and pushed a bowl of hot soup toward Bai Wei.

Lin Feng: "Eat. You didn't eat much last night."

Bai Wei looked at the soup, then at him. His ears were still a little red.

Bai Wei: "You woke up early."

Lin Feng: "I couldn't sleep. You were using my arm as a pillow."

Bai Wei: "You didn't seem to mind."

Lin Feng chuckled and took a bite of the blue glacier rice.

Lin Feng: "It's sweet. Tastes like the spirit grass back at the outer peak."

Bai Wei: "Everything on Binglan Star tastes cold, even when it's hot."

They were quiet for a moment. Bai Wei finally looked up from his bowl.

Bai Wei: "What do we do after we leave the inn?" Lin feng didn't answer anything , he thought for a moment.

Then looked at Bai Wei after they finished the last bite of breakfast,

"Why not enter the market and see if there are any useful things there?"

Bai Wei's eyes lit up instantly.

"Okay, then it's your treat!"

Lin Feng nodded and smiled. He could buy him anything he wanted. Bai Wei was his now.

After breakfast, both of them left the Frostheart Pavilion. The streets of Frostlight City were busy even in the morning. The air was cold, but the sunlight made the ice buildings shine blue and silver.

They walked slowly from stall to stall. The vendors called out as they passed.

"Young masters! Fresh ice lotus seeds! Good for stabilizing your core! Only three low grade spirit stones!"

Lin Feng bought two pouches and handed one to Bai Wei without a word.

A little further on, a woman holding up pale scarves smiled at them.

"Glacial silk scarves! Woven from snow worms! They'll keep you warm in the deepest snow. Buy one for your companion!"

Bai Wei's face turned red, but Lin Feng bought two anyway, one blue and one white. They also picked out small carved ice talismans for their junior brothers and sisters, and a bottle of frozen plum wine for their elder.

While they were looking at a tray of beast cores, a sudden commotion rose from the main plaza. People started shouting and pushing forward.

Someone in the crowd yelled, "Hurry! Someone triggered the Ice Phoenix Statue again!"

Another voice answered, "Who was it this time? Another false alarm?"

"No," a third person said, out of breath from running. "The guards are sealing the area. They say the statue's eyes glowed for a full breath!"

Bai Wei grabbed Lin Feng's sleeve.

"Did you hear that? The Ice Phoenix Statue."

Lin Feng raised an eyebrow. "The legacy trial? I thought it was just a story for tourists."

An old woman selling tea nearby heard them and shook her head as she poured.

"Not a story, young man. That statue stands in the middle of the city for a reason. Anyone can go up and place their hand on it. If you have the right bloodline, the statue will choose you."

A man with a merchant's satchel added, "The Ice Phoenix was the strongest being in this galaxy. It sacrificed itself in the Great War ten thousand years ago to freeze the entire demon tide."

Someone else in the crowd sighed. "Nobody has been chosen in three hundred years. The last one became the City Lord of Frostlight."

Lin Feng and Bai Wei looked at each other. Both of them were suddenly excited.

"Should we go see?" Lin Feng asked.

"We're already here," Bai Wei said. "Let's go."

They followed the flow of people toward the central plaza. The narrow streets opened into a wide circle of white stone. In the middle stood a huge statue, nearly thirty feet tall, carved from a single piece of clear ice. It was an ice phoenix with its wings spread wide and its head raised to the sky. Under the morning sun, the whole thing glowed from within.

A line of cultivators waited in front of it. City guards in silver armor stood on both sides, quiet and watchful. One by one, a person would step forward, press their palm to the base of the statue, and wait. Most of the time nothing happened, and the guards would simply wave them away.

A stall owner who had followed the crowd to watch muttered, "Takes a lot of guts to try. If your heart is not pure, the statue's cold will freeze your meridians for a month."

Lin Feng looked at the statue, then at Bai Wei.

"Do you want to try?"

Bai Wei smiled back. "Do you?"

Lin Feng grinned and took Bai Wei's hand in his own.

"Let's go together."

They walked toward the end of the line, and the crowd parted slightly to let them through.

The line moved slowly. When it was finally their turn, Bai Wei stepped forward first.

Lin Feng stayed just behind him, his hands in his sleeves. Bai Wei took a breath, lifted his right hand, and placed his palm flat against the base of the Ice Phoenix statue.

Nothing happened.

The clear ice stayed clear. The huge wings did not move. The eyes did not glow.

Lin Feng let out a quiet sigh. Bai Wei frowned. He pressed his hand harder against the ice, as if he had not done it right the first time.

He still felt nothing. No cold, no sting, no pull on his spiritual energy. He had been told that people with a pure heart would not feel the statue's cold, so for a second he thought that might be a good sign. He tried again, then a third time, his palm flat and steady.

A ripple of laughter moved through the crowd.

A group of young cultivators in white and blue uniforms pushed to the front. The emblem of the Glacial Veil Sect was stitched on their sleeves.

One of them, a tall disciple with a sharp voice, called out, "Look at him. He thinks if he touches it long enough, the Phoenix will feel sorry for him."

Another laughed louder. "Eternal Sect, right? Your senior brother is so desperate for a legacy he has to pet the statue like a dog." They saw it through the token hanging from Bai wei and Lin Feng's waist.

A third one sneered, "No wonder the statue won't even get cold for you. It knows trash when it feels it."

Lin Feng's expression changed instantly. His fingers curled, and a thin layer of frost started to form around his boots. He doesn't know about the sudden appearing frost at all ,he took one step forward, ready to answer them.

Before he could move, Bai Wei turned back. He walked straight to Lin Feng and grabbed his shoulder, his grip firm.

Bai Wei shook his head once, very slightly.

Lin Feng looked at him, angry, but Bai Wei's eyes were calm. He did not say anything out loud. He did not need to.

Bai Wei let go of the statue and stepped back from the platform. He stood beside Lin Feng and did not look at the Glacial Veil disciples again.

The disciples kept mocking them.

"Scared now?"

"Go back to your little sect."

"He can't even make it glow, and his boyfriend wants to fight for him. How sweet. Hahahah..."

Lin Feng and Bai Wei ignored them completely. They did not turn their heads. They did not answer. They just stood together at the edge of the platform, shoulder to shoulder, watching the next person in line walk up to try.

The crowd's laughter faded a little when they realized they would not get a reaction.

Now it was Lin Feng's turn.

He let go of Bai Wei's hand and walked the few steps up to the platform. The guards in silver armor glanced at him but said nothing. The base of the statue was still cold, or at least, it looked that way in the frosty atmosphere.

The moment he moved, the Glacial Veil disciples started again.

The tall one who had spoken first leaned against the stone railing and grinned.

"Oh, look. The boyfriend is going to try now. Are you going to hold the statue's hand for him too, senior brother?"

Another one in the back laughed. "Don't waste your time, kid. The statue didn't want him, it's not going to want you. You two match perfectly. Both useless."
