Chapter 43 - Chapter 43 The Silent Mountain Village (Part 2)

Lu Ming held the drill crusher, lunging forward with a quick step toward the Ghost Samurai, charging up for a fierce thrust.

Holding a rusty katana, the Ghost Samurai struggled to deflect the drill crusher, narrowly avoiding Lu Ming's sharp strike.

"What on earth are you? Why are you attacking us?" the Ghost Samurai asked warily, looking at the armored man before him.

Just then, the Fat Fiend Lu Ming had tripped earlier slowly approached from behind.

It lunged at him suddenly; the Ghost Samurai watched the Fat Fiend behind Lu Ming, his mouth curling into a grin as he swung his blade in a horizontal slash toward Lu Ming.

Seeing this, Lu Ming calmly removed the rabbit energy bottle from his belt and loaded it into the drill crusher.

"Vortex Break!"

"I'm no longer interested in playing games with you! So, I'll just finish you off now."

As soon as he spoke, Lu Ming swung the rapidly spinning drill crusher around toward the short, Fat Fiend behind him, the high-speed vortex tearing the demon to shreds.

Then Lu Ming jumped high, evading the Ghost Samurai's slash, and used a Rider Kick to firmly bind the demon in place before kicking him into pieces.

Lu Ming picked up the fragments of the demons' bodies and threw them toward the cave entrance to be exposed to the sunlight.

The young girl waiting at the cave entrance saw Lu Ming throwing the demons' limbs into the sun, where they turned to ash upon contact with the sunlight.

After eliminating the demons, Lu Ming walked over to the little girl. "Alright, my work here is done! Now, I'll help you resurrect your family."

Saying this, Lu Ming took the main god great light sphere out of the Manufacturing Space. The bewildered Main God looked at the girl with dull eyes and then at his master, who had transformed into Build.

"Master, why did you call me out? Do you want me to resurrect some ordinary people again? This is very simple and can be done quickly!" the Main God boasted proudly.

Lu Ming, his face covered in dark lines, rolled his eyes at the Main God. "Stop talking so much and go find the souls of this girl's family immediately."

"Yes, Master! I'll go look right away." Lu Ming felt a bit speechless as he watched the big light sphere act like a sycophantic lackey.

The Main God first flew into the cave to search, then flew through the mountain village for a careful search, but he couldn't find a single soul.

Lu Ming shouted at the Main God flying back and forth in the sky, "Hey, Main God! What exactly are you doing? It shouldn't take this long to find a soul."

Seeing this, the Main God flew back dejectedly. "Master, there isn't even a shadow of a soul here!"

Lu Ming looked at the Main God speechlessly. "Have you ever seen a soul with a shadow?"

The Main God was left speechless by Lu Ming's retort, not knowing what to say.

"Do the souls here have no lingering regrets at all? Did they all leave or go to reincarnate? Do the girl's parents not care about her?" Lu Ming muttered softly to himself.

Just then, the little girl beside Lu Ming spoke up, "I don't have parents! I was raised by the people in the village.

As long as I helped them with some farm work, they would give me some food so I could survive.

Until a few days ago, people in the village started disappearing one after another at night, and they never came back.

This caused panic among most of the villagers. They believed the Mountain God in the back mountains was angry and was taking villagers to be servants.

Such rumors spread further and further throughout the village, and more and more people believed them. The residents were terrified that they would be taken away by the Mountain God!"

As the panic intensified, they decided to sacrifice a hardworking and capable young girl to the Mountain God."

Hearing this, Lu Ming and the Main God looked at the girl with pity; both of them had realized that the girl she was talking about was herself.

The girl with hollow eyes glanced at Lu Ming and saw the pity in his gaze, but she continued to speak expressionlessly.

"They gathered all the residents of the village and began to select a suitable girl for the sacrifice. But no matter who they chose, the girl's family and relatives would step forward and strictly refuse.

So, naturally, they turned their eyes toward me—an orphan with no family.

As you might expect, I indeed became the sacrifice for the Mountain God.

I remember that day after I finished working for an auntie, she only gave me a small rice ball. My stomach was still very hungry after eating it.

Just then, the Village Chief found me and asked me to work for him. He told me he could let me eat my fill every day and wear nice clothes.

At that time, I was truly, truly grateful to him. I thanked him for introducing me to such a good job. Although I didn't know what I would be doing yet, I was still very thankful.

He took me to his home and made me a lot of delicious food—things I had never eaten before—and even gave me a set of very pretty little clothes.

I was really happy then and wanted to work hard to help Grandpa Village Chief.

I ate such delicious food at the Village Chief's house for several days, and he never assigned me any work, which made me feel restless.

I took the initiative to do farm work for the Village Chief's family, washed the dishes after meals, and diligently cleaned the house for him.

Whenever I worked, the Village Chief always looked at me with an appreciative gaze, which made me work even harder. But that gaze felt very strange, though I didn't pay it much mind at the time.

Until a few days later, the Village Chief prepared a large table of food for me to eat. I sat at the table and wolfed down dishes I had never even seen before.

But I noticed that the Village Chief's family didn't sit down. I thought it was a bit strange at the time, but I didn't think too much of it and invited them to come and eat.

But no matter how I called for them to eat, they remained motionless, just staring at me quietly!

Once they saw me stop eating, they rushed forward and tied me up.

I didn't understand why. I only asked them to come and eat with me; why did they have to tie me up?

After they tied me tightly, they carried me on their shoulders to the village entrance! I struggled with all my might and cried out to the surrounding residents for help.

But it was of no use. Just like that, I was taken to the back mountains and left there.

I was left in the mountains, bound hand and foot. I didn't dare make a sound, for fear that some wild beast would come and eat me, and I was also afraid of the so-called Mountain God.

I was left in the mountains like that, starving for several days. Just when I thought I was about to die...

A Ghost Samurai found me and carried me off. I thought I was saved and fainted, but when I woke up again, I saw with horror three demons crouching on the ground, gnawing on a corpse.

I trembled with fear and tried my best to hide. Those demons only glanced up at me before ignoring me and continuing to gnaw on their food.

I tried to run away while they were eating, but as soon as I reached the cave entrance, I was lifted up by a pair of sharp claws and thrown back to where I was.

Every night, they would go out and bring back one or two villagers to eat.

I was kept by them like this. Perhaps because of those days in the back mountains, I was so skin and bones that they had no appetite for me.

So they didn't eat me right away!
