Sorel's Family signature technique

Shadow Moment is the signature lineage technique of the Sorel family, a rare and highly refined art that governs the manipulation of shadows as both a medium and a battlefield domain. Unlike destructive techniques that rely on overwhelming force, Shadow Moment is classified as a support-type technique, designed for control, protection, positioning, and tactical dominance. It is feared not because of raw power, but because of how completely it can control the flow of battle.

At its core, Shadow Moment allows the user to merge their Thawai (spirit energy) with ambient darkness, turning shadows into an extension of their will. Once activated, the surroundings begin to dim unnaturally, as if light itself is being suppressed. The user's shadow expands outward, spreading across the ground, walls, and even into the air, forming a Domain-like Barrier known as the Shadow Field. Inside this field, all shadows become connected, and the user gains absolute awareness and control over them.

Within the Shadow Field, the Sorel user can shape shadows into various constructs. Tendrils emerge silently from the ground or surfaces, capable of binding enemies, intercepting attacks, or pulling targets into vulnerable positions. These tendrils move fluidly, almost like living creatures, reacting instantly to the user's intent. The user can also form shadow hands, larger and more defined constructs that can grab, crush, or shield allies with precision. These hands are not just physical manifestations—they carry the density of compressed Thawai, making them durable enough to block powerful techniques.

Defensively, Shadow Moment excels through the creation of shadow shields, layered barriers formed by overlapping darkness. These shields absorb impact by dispersing force across the shadow network, making them highly effective against both physical and energy-based attacks. Because the shadows are interconnected, damage to one section can be redistributed, preventing complete collapse unless overwhelmed entirely.

One of the most dangerous aspects of Shadow Moment is the ability to enter and travel through shadows. The user can sink into any shadow within the domain and reappear from another, effectively granting short-range teleportation. This makes the Sorel user extremely difficult to track or hit, as they can reposition instantly, evade fatal attacks, or appear behind opponents without warning. In skilled hands, this ability turns the battlefield into a maze where only the Sorel family holds the map.

The technique also enhances team coordination, allowing the user to extend shadows beneath allies. Through this, they can provide instant defense, reposition teammates, or assist in synchronized attacks, making Shadow Moment invaluable in group battles. It is a technique that turns one fighter into the center of an entire combat system, supporting and controlling everything at once.

However, Shadow Moment has its limitations. Its effectiveness depends heavily on the presence of shadows—bright, fully illuminated environments weaken its range and stability. Maintaining the Shadow Field also requires continuous Thawai output, and overextension can lead to mental and spiritual fatigue. If the user loses focus, the domain can destabilize, causing constructs to collapse instantly.

In the hands of a true Sorel master, Shadow Moment transforms the battlefield into a silent, shifting darkness where enemies are restrained, allies are protected, and every movement is controlled from the shadows themselves. It is not a technique meant to destroy—it is a technique meant to decide the outcome of the battle before the final blow is ever struck.
