The seal led them deep — past the forest, past the hills, into a region of broken stone and violet mist.
The ground trembled — faint, constant.
Rifts glowed in the distance — small, watchful.
They reached a cavern mouth — wide, dark, runes carved around the entrance.
Old runes.
Crimson.
The seal pulsed — homecoming.
Here.
Miko stopped.
Kael's shadows probed — found nothing.
They entered.
The tunnel sloped down — walls smooth, like melted stone.
At the bottom — a vast chamber.
In the center — the Unnamed.
Hood down.
Face scarred, eyes silver-gray.
He stood before a large obsidian mirror — cracked, but whole.
Crimson veins crawling across it.
He turned — slowly.
"You came."
Miko stepped forward.
"You wanted me to."
The Unnamed nodded.
"I wanted you to see."
Kael's shadows coiled.
"See what?"
The Unnamed gestured to the mirror.
"The truth."
Miko approached — slow.
The mirror pulsed — violet.
She touched it.
Vision.
The first rift — massive, violent.
Lirien — young, terrified — standing before it.
She reached — seal flaring.
She closed it.
But the seal didn't stop.
It turned — consumed her.
She became shadow — black, crimson-veined.
No face.
Just void.
The vision shifted.
The Unnamed — younger — watching.
He reached — his own seal flaring.
He surrendered.
Became shadow.
But he kept his face.
Kept his will.
The vision ended.
Miko staggered.
Kael caught her.
The Unnamed spoke.
"I am what happens when you surrender without losing yourself."
Miko stared.
"You're… the seal?"
The Unnamed shook his head.
"I am what the seal can become.
When it finds balance.
When it finds trust."
Kael's voice was low.
"Why tell us this?"
The Unnamed looked at Miko.
"Because she can choose.
To fight — and lose.
To surrender — and become me.
Or to walk with it — and become something new."
Miko swallowed.
"What's the cost?"
The Unnamed's voice was quiet.
"Everything.
And nothing."
He turned — walked toward the mirror.
"Choose soon.
The Mother Rift is waking."
He stepped into the mirror — vanished.
The chamber went dark.
Miko looked at Kael.
"I don't know what to do."
Kael held her.
"We'll figure it out."
The seal pulsed — once, patient.
Choose.
Miko nodded.
"We will."
To be continued…
