Chapter 83 - The Mother’s Claim

They didn't have to walk far before they found what the vendor was talking about. Well, they heard her voice before they saw her.

"I TOLD EVERYONE! I TOLD THEM SHE WOULD SHINE!"

The two of them rounded the corner and spotted her immediately. 

She stood hunched near the far wall of the tunnel. Her clothes were ragged and worn, the coat she wore hung loosely from her thin body with several holes torn through the fabric. 

Her hair was a complete mess, matted and unkempt like it hadn't been brushed in weeks, maybe even months.

But it was her eyes that stood out the most. They were unfocused and wild…like she was staring at something no one else could see.

"…I told them she would make it," she muttered to herself, rocking faintly where she stood. "I told them she would be perfect…"

Daniel leaned slightly toward Aren.

"Yeah…that's definitely her," he whispered.
