The Next Morning

Ambrose's eyelids the next morning were so slammed shut that it felt herculean trying to open them.
The first sensation that struck him as consciousness came back was… okay, who's he kidding?
There was barely any sensation other than the pure desire to fall back asleep. The pillow under his cheek felt extra fluffy this morning.
[I won't sleep in if I were you. You failed to check in on your stats and mission rewards from last night.]
"Ugh," Ambrose turned to his right—only to quickly realise that there was an arm wrapped around his shoulders from that angle.
His eyes opened wider to take in the person.
Gabriel.
The SS-Rank appeared to have been awake for a while, scrolling through his phone with his other free hand. He was shirtless, but had faint water droplets on his chest and hair and smelt of lavender.
