"Who's that man? Is he really staring at me?"
I don't know, but I've a feeling I know him. And he knows me too.
My heart is racing so hard at this time. I couldn't help but feel a little out of breath, a chill running down my spine as I hold his gaze - I'm sure he's looking this way.
As I exit the café, I can sense his gaze burning at the back of my head. That intimidating gaze following me till the very end of the alley.
"What's the matter? You don't look good." Sara asks.
"Nothing. I guess I'm still confused about the sudden weather change and power cut." I told her.
" To be honest, I was also confused, but I guess it was just a normal thing. Maybe there were clouds afar that came this way? And the sudden power cut could also be because of anything normal." She says.
"Yeah. Maybe you're right babe." I said, though I don't feel so.
Dropping Sara at her door, I remind her to be on time for the party as I head towards my house. A friend is hosting a party at an upscale club near Sara's workplace, celebrating his promotion.
As I opened the door of my house, I reminded myself, "I've to choose a dress for today's party."
I guess I'll calm my nerve there. Maybe I'll meet some handsome men too.
Finding a man for a night stand is a much easier task than finding a loyal man with a lot of affection and respect for you, I guess that's the reason why I am still single. No man aligns with my taste. It's not like I'm a total bitch, but I've high standards. I can't just let anyone ruin my life.
It's always hard to date a girl who is obsessed with fiction. I love fiction. I live fiction. I want my man to be as devoted to me as a priest is to his faith. I want him to be obsessed with me and love me unconditionally. I want him to prioritize me everywhere. I want a morally grey man who has a soft corner only for me.
Closing the door behind me, I switch on the music on my bluetooth speaker, singing the lyrics as I climb the stairs to reach my room.
"Thank you in advance, I don't wanna dance~
I don't need your hands all over me ~
If I want a man, then I'ma get a man~
But it's never my priority~"
Removing my t-shirt, I was about to pull down my jeans when the floor board creaked behind me.
I jerk my neck back but there was no one over there. Glancing out of the room door, I could sense someone was there a second ago. Call it 6th sense or anything, but I can sense someone's presence. As I go downstairs, the floor creaks again, but the house is as empty as a graveyard in the middle of the night. It is all dark there as I walked towards the kitchen to check if someone's there.
Empty. No soul was there. Though I love these creepy things, but I'm literally terrified now. If there's some killer, I want to run now. I don't want to die so soon.
I checked all the rooms again but no one was there either. Maybe that was my imagination or a rat running here and there. I shake off the fear building inside me and head towards my room
When I climb again up the stairs and reach my room, the music suddenly stops.
" Guess I again forgot to plug in the charger after using it last time."
Without paying much attention, I started changing . Though the tension was still there, I tried my best to distract myself.
Giving final touch ups to my makeup I glance at the mirror for the last time. I admire my ravishing look. A black slit cut dress that fits perfectly to my body. The cut goes from my mid thighs to my ankle, exposing my beautiful leg and enhancing the overall look.
As I was about to go, my phone vibrates.
" I hope they don't want to cancel the party at last moment" I said with a groan
The screen displays - a text from an unknown number.
Unlocking my phone, I am hoping he's not my ex-boyfriend who keeps bothering me. He's literally annoying me for the past few months now.
"Looking beautiful."
Wait! Whose text is this? Is this actually Kay? My ex? But the number is new.
"Excuse me ! who are you?"
I glance out of the window, but there was no one. Kay doesn't know the address of my new manor. Only Sara knows about this new house.
Hah! Silly me! How will there be someone out there in the middle of the forest? No one ever comes here, except for the courier man. I always have to tip him to come here next time again.
But my instincts say there's someone near me, maybe in the forest, maybe in the manor, I don't know.
I checked my living room, and locked the door before leaving. I hope there will be no one to actually kill me when I return.
As I started my car, a message pops, lighting my phone screen.
"You'll soon find out who I am. Have patience." The text says.
"Fuck yourself, rascal." I typed back.
A message again pops up.
"Mind your language dear one. I am much more than a rascal"
Who the fuck is this? I don't think it's Kay anymore. He's not a patient man to play such games. The fucker will not conceal his identity for so long. ignoring the message this time, I start my car and drive towards my destination - THE MIDNIGHT CLUB.
Before entering the club, I called sara to check on her
"Where are you?"
"behind you " She says
As I glanced behind, I saw her, looking sexy in a green colour mini dress.
"You are looking beautiful"
" And you're looking a fucking goddess. I guess someone is hooking up today" she says
We both entered the club still giggling like high school girls. We both are almost 24 but still carry high school girls vibe. The neon light is dancing everywhere, making everything look so sinister. It smells of alcohol and mocktails. I guess I'll have a lot of fun today.
Again, a message pops.
"Let's see if you're good at following rules.
Don't let anyone touch you! Because I'm here, watching you."
