Chapter 164 - Armored

There is nothing a group of Ultralisks cannot solve.

When a herd of Ultralisks charges, any enemy relying on numbers must temporarily retreat. This is why the Zerg Swarm is arguably superior to the Tyranid Hive Mind: the Zerg's sustainable development allows for the possibility of continuous "unit pumping."

In other words, it is the favorite playstyle of StarCraft 2 players—"Hoarding." Hoarding units is fun for a moment; hoarding units forever is fun forever.

"Charge! Crush them all!!!"

The Ultralisk herd began their move. They passed through the Webway gate, emerging from a gateway on the Maiden World that had been abandoned for untold years.

The Daemons here had not yet been disturbed by the Swarm. They were still engaged in various "indescribable" little games. Being Daemons of Slaanesh, they naturally spent their boredom on things that would never pass a content audit.

"That reminds me... wait, no!!!"

While the Slaaneshi Daemons were immersed in their moments of pleasure, the light from the opening Webway gate suddenly caught their attention. Some Daemons didn't even have time to "pull out" or snap back to reality from their games before they saw a titan-sized monstrosity charging out of the gate.

An Ultralisk's physique is simply too massive. Although only about five stories tall, their width is immense. This particular Webway gate could only accommodate two Ultralisks passing through at a time.

But as the first two emerged, the nearest Slaaneshi Daemons could only look up at their silhouettes, completely enveloped in the Ultralisks' shadows.

"So big..."

After muttering that ill-timed comment, the Daemon was instantly crushed by an Ultralisk's massive foot, perhaps fulfilling some sort of "giant foot" fetish the Daemon might have possessed.

Who wouldn't love a foot that size?

Two, four, six—the Ultralisks thundered out of the gate in pairs. Nothing in front of them could stop them. Whether it was statues of Greater Daemons, medieval-style Chaos architecture, or the Daemons scurrying beneath their feet, there was only one outcome in the face of the herd:

[Destruction]

"I really do love watching Ultralisks tear down buildings."

The Overmind watched the charge in silence. With a thunderous boom, an Ultralisk slammed its thick head-plate into a structure. Under the slicing and impact of its twin Kaiser Blades, a building shattered like toy blocks. Thick forelimbs rose high and stamped heavily onto the ruins.

In the distance, another Ultralisk was toppling a grand statue of a Greater Daemon. Even though the statue was dozens of meters tall, the Ultralisk pushed it over and trampled it.

In a twisted way, this was exactly the kind of scene Slaanesh might enjoy seeing.

Initially, some Daemons tried to block these massive beasts. However, once the number of Ultralisks surpassed thirty and the Webway gate continued to vomit more out, they realized this was a fight they couldn't win.

"What is this? What the hell is this?!"

Don't just say the Daemons of a Daemon World would be terrified; even the sea of Daemons in the damaged Webway during the 30K Webway War, seeing herds of Ultralisks pouring out like they cost nothing, would probably scream, "Stop coming out! It's already full in here! Gurgle gurgle..."

But how could the Overmind stop?

"Force this Daemon World into the shape of the Swarm!!!"

More Ultralisks poured out. As soon as the ones in front cleared the gate, new ones entered from behind.

For a time, the herd acted as if they were in an uninhabited land, wreaking havoc across the world. They were like bulldozers and steamrollers, flattening the "beautiful homes" the Slaaneshi Daemons had worked so hard to build.

By the time the herd trampled through a region, they left behind only a scarred wasteland and a tiny handful of Daemons lucky enough to have avoided a stomp.

But before these survivors could catch their breath, they saw that while the gate was still outputting Ultralisks, a sea of Zerglings was now surging out alongside them.

"You've got to be kidding me!"

The Daemons who had narrowly escaped the Ultralisks' feet were swarmed and pinned down by the tide of Zerglings in the blink of an eye. They didn't go down without a fight; some managed to impale a few Zerglings before dying.

Even if they had the strength to fight a Zergling, the absolute numerical disadvantage meant there was no possibility of escape. In less than half a minute, they were torn to shreds.

All Daemons dissipated into Warp energy upon death, but the Overmind's mission wasn't about biomass this time; it was purely about extermination.

"This is our home! Drive the bugs out!!!"

Several Greater Daemons on Wei-Moer still attempted to stop the invasion. But when one stood atop his castle and saw hundreds of Ultralisks thundering toward him, making the very earth tremble, he began cursing under his breath.

"Bugs, remember this! I'm putting this in my book of grudges!!!"

The Greater Daemon promptly retreated into his Chaos fortress and fled to another Daemon world through a portal. To prevent the Zerg or other rival Daemons from following, he destroyed the portal immediately after passing through.

Very good. Very Daemon-like behavior.

In a one-on-one duel, a Greater Daemon of Slaanesh could easily butcher an Ultralisk. Their physical structure is well-suited for fighting four-legged Zerg units, especially since they can jump onto an Ultralisk's back or slide-attack areas where the beast cannot strike back.

But against a herd of Ultralisks, there is no room for error. Even Shalaxi Hellbane, the strongest Greater Daemon under Slaanesh, could never hope to gain an advantage in a melee against an Ultralisk charge.

This is the terror of the Ultralisk "A-move."

"Ah, satisfying. I finally understand why the Warhammer universe loves cavalry charges so much. A mass charge is just pure joy, even if the resources drain at lightning speed."

Fortunately, the Overmind had no immediate plans for expansion. The Creep could focus on collecting and stockpiling biomass. Being able to "farm" is one of the Zerg's greatest strengths, allowing the Swarm to rebuild even after a failure.

The "Ling-Bling-Ultra" (or simply Ultra-Ling) rush is the tactic that requires the least mechanical skill. With herds of Zerglings and Ultralisks charging together, the Overmind didn't need micro-management or fancy maneuvers. He only needed to hit F2 to select all units and "A-click" into the enemy.

The Slaaneshi Daemons, who relied on fast ground troops, stood no chance of holding. This tactic could only be delayed by Nurgle's swampy environments or countered by Tzeentch's flying units. Even Khorne's Greater Daemons, despite their toughness, couldn't withstand the Kaiser Blades' molecular-level cutting.

"My daughter, I leave the control of these Ultralisks to you. Level this planet."

"Yes, Overmind."

On the Queen of Blades' side, her battle with the Greater Daemon was also nearing its end.

The Greater Daemon panted heavily as he faced her. His body was covered in over a dozen wounds, while the Queen of Blades remained unscathed.

"What's wrong? Tired already?"

The Queen of Blades mocked, "Since when did the servants of the Prince of Pleasure become so pathetic and vulnerable?"

It could only be said that her memories as an Eldar were still influencing her personality. If she were the original Queen of Blades... well, the original Queen of Blades also enjoyed mocking her enemies.
