Chapter 45 - Chapter 45 — Cafeteria Brawl

Asai Yu poured the contents of the bento box into another bowl, put it into the refrigerator, and closed the door. "Try it yourself tonight."

"How could you do this? Yu, that's way too heartless…" Chihaya Anon hadn't expected things to go this way—not even a single bite.

Ignoring her, Asai Yu began selecting ingredients from the fridge. With the supplies well stocked, his options were plentiful.

In the end, he stir-fried yuxiang shredded pork and tomato scrambled eggs, paired them with rice, and just like that, the bento was complete.

"That's amazing! Yu-Yu, you're totally a master chef, right? It smells so good—now I really want to eat it!" Anon's eyes lit up the moment she saw the two dishes.

"If you want to eat, then study properly," Asai Yu replied.

Hearing that, Anon let out a soft sigh. "Sigh… Yu, you're not supposed to say that. You should say, 'Then I'll make another one just for you,' and say it more gently."

"If you did that, I'd feel really happy hearing it, and I'd think Yu is definitely a kind boy. You'd feel satisfied too, wouldn't you?"

The corner of Asai Yu's mouth twitched. If he actually did that, it'd mean he had way too much free time.

"Stop thinking about useless things all day. Just follow the study plan I set. Get results—you'll be happy, and I'll be satisfied."

That shut Anon up completely. All she could do was sigh inwardly at how "cold-blooded" he was.

After packing up, Asai Yu headed to school.

The first period in the morning was math. As far as math education went, the UK and Japan were pretty much the same—six of one, half a dozen of the other.

Asai Yu listened until he was half asleep, like watching a teacher explain basic addition and subtraction to elementary school kids.

Anon tried to pay attention, but after his reminder, she went back to studying English instead.

Those classes could be made up later. Building confidence through English came first.

When the bell rang, Asai Yu swept his gaze over several classmates, reinforcing his impression of that small clique's faces.

The second period was English language class.

With Asai Yu's help, Anon learned quite a lot during the lesson. He even answered some of the questions in class on her behalf.

Although the teacher only responded with a simple "Okay, thank you for your answer. Please sit down," it was still enough to prove how much Anon had improved over the past few days.

Time flew by, and soon it was lunchtime. Asai Yu brought his bento to the cafeteria.

But just after opening it and taking a few bites, five students carrying trays stopped beside him, standing there without moving.

Asai Yu glanced at them first, then turned and looked straight at them.

"What do you want?"

These were the same girls Anon had mentioned—the ones who had been bullying her.

One dark-skinned girl stepped forward, pointed at him, and sneered. "Well, look who it is. Isn't this Ann from our class? Did your fall yesterday hurt?"

The others chuckled along.

"Oh—your lunch smells just like garbage."

As she spoke, she pressed her tray down onto Asai Yu's lunchbox. "This table's our territory. We don't let trash sit here, so you're not welcome. Got it?"

If Chihaya Anon herself had been here, she probably would've gone pale at those words.

"Yu… what should we do?" Her voice was full of tension and worry.

Asai Yu remained silent.

Seeing that, the dark-skinned girl frowned, reached out with her right hand, and roughly grabbed Asai Yu by the collar, looking like she was about to throw a punch the next second.

Judging the timing perfect, Asai Yu didn't hesitate at all. He grabbed her tray and, in a flash, smashed it straight into her face.

Bang!

With a crisp impact, the girl took her own fish and chips full on to the face.

Before she could even react, Asai Yu shoved her hard, sending her crashing to the ground.

The remaining girls stared in shock. Was this really the same clueless Asian student from yesterday?

Still, with numbers on their side, they didn't back down. They exchanged looks, dropped their trays, and rushed at him together.

Asai Yu didn't retreat—instead, he walked straight toward them.

At the end of the day, they were just a bunch of untrained delinquents.

Their movements looked clumsy and slow in his eyes.

A left hook. A front kick. Followed by an elbow strike…

In less than twenty seconds, Asai Yu had taken down the remaining four.

He didn't hold back at all. They lay sprawled on the floor, faces bruised and swollen, crying out in pain.

All eyes in the cafeteria turned toward the scene—first surprise, then pure shock.

They were surprised someone had actually started a fight in the cafeteria.

They were shocked because a girl who looked frail had just knocked down five much bigger girls in only a few moves.

Asai Yu ignored the ones on the ground and went to the sink to wash his hands.

Compared to Togawa Sakiko's body, Anon's seemed to have more raw strength—and felt more agile in a fight.

Of course, neither body could be compared to that of an ordinary person.

At this point, Chihaya Anon's eyes were practically sparkling. Her fear had completely vanished, replaced by pure admiration in her voice.

"So… so amazing. And so cool! Just like a cold-blooded killer from a movie!"

"A killer's a bit much," Asai Yu replied calmly. "That's exaggerating."

"Oh, right! Yu-yu, aren't you an onmyōji? Can't you use some spells to punish them?" Anon asked curiously.

"Let's put that question aside for now. There are still plenty of problems left to deal with."

Asai Yu looked toward the entrance, where security staff and teachers were already hurrying into the cafeteria.

After that, he was taken to the office, while the five bullies were sent to the infirmary due to their injuries.

With full cafeteria surveillance footage—and with Asai Yu having already set his phone on the table to record—the school ultimately reached a fairly impartial judgment.

The actions of those five students were deemed clear-cut cases of school bullying, and disciplinary measures would be issued, with the level still under review.

As for Asai Yu, his actions were classified as self-defense. He only retaliated after the others attacked first, and his response wasn't considered excessive.

Even so, the teacher still gave him a verbal warning: if something like this happened again, he should report it immediately and try not to resort to violence.

He treated that advice as background noise. If they dared to attack someone openly in the cafeteria, what good would telling a teacher really do?

"That's such a relief… If I'd been punished, my whole exchange student life would've been over."

After hearing the outcome, Anon let out a long breath.

"Um… can I ask one more thing?" she said cautiously.

"Go ahead," Asai Yu replied.
