Ficool

Chapter 6 - Food of Survivor

I went back to the fire hydrant, the very place in this vast and cruel land. I put down the chair leg which I was using to lifting up the stuff I stored inside the cloth I got from Sunworm's lair.

As I put down the stuff I collected, I glanced at the terrace building in front of me, the place where I died in a horrific way by getting my neck gouged down by its sharp teeth from behind. And now… That is the next place I will go.

I decided to rest a bit as I looked at the bowl filled with human flesh. My stomach was getting a butterfly just from looking at it, but at the same time, I didn't realize that I was drooling. I quickly wiped my drool as soon as I realized it.

"Shit, what I'm thinking?! The hunger is getting to me…"

As I muttered, I went prepared to enter the one house among many across the street, each step I took, the sixth sense I had been honing for the past 109 days came to detect the countless eyes that had been watching me from the shadow.

One step inside the door, I can feel the murderous intent coming from above me. The next step was one leap that evaded the entity that lunged towards me. I leaped into the shadow, and looked to my back as I saw its full appearance.

Colored golden yellowish, spiky on surface skin to its tail, has sharp teeth revealing a sharp tongue sharper than a blade. He had three round yellowish pupils with black sclera eyes. Its size was almost the same as my body. The more I looked at it, the more it resembled a lizard that's often hanging on the wall and ceiling of the home.

So I decided to call it Mazard. A creature dwells within a closed space, and they like to hang on to the wall or ceiling, waiting for their prey went they are most unaware.

*GRAAAKH!*

Upon locking eyes, the Mazard made the first move by launching his long and sharp tongue at me. The tongue was aimed at my head. Thankfully I dodged it as I already saw it coming. Thus I sprinted towards it and kicked him to the outdoor.

The Mazardt fell on his back, revealing the bottom part of his body. He went back up not long after. And once again we exchange gaze…

*G-GRAAAAKH!!*

As the Mazardt shrieked, he ran in the opposite direction as he went inside another building. The Mazard is scared of lights, especially the sun. And another specific characteristic about them is that they are scared and cowardly against the strong. Thus, Mazardt recognized my strength and ran away from me, giving up to reclaim the place he considered to be his home.

But it's not over yet…

*GRAAAKH!!!*

I tilted my head to the side as I dodged a tongue coming from behind me. There's another Mazard inside this house, I guess it failed to recognize my strength when I kicked off his friends. That's what I thought at the moment.

"Ah… Everytime… You've made this harder every fucking time I come to your house. No, no matter… I'm gonna slaughter you regardless."

The moment I finished speaking, the Mazard shrieks as it lunges towards me.

*STAB!*

I'm all about efficiency this time. I'd rather die than spend another hour wasting my energy fighting this guy. So I went to hold its neck as it lunged at me, and with the spare chair leg I took and sharpened, I used it to stab its eye. Revealing the yellowish blood, it splattered onto my face, as if I had been bathing in the golden shower.

I stub the chair leg deeper, into its brain… Then into its internal organ. And then… I was once again showered with the goldenish blood which vomited from its mouth.

"Ugh, disgusting…" I said that, but I was used to it every time I went to this house. Even if it happens to have a disgusting and uncomfortable smell. Not long has the chair leg pierced into its eye, it seems to be motionless. I exhale a sigh, as a sign of me winning.

"Hmm?" Yeah, my adrenaline made me fail to realize the damage he caused to me when it pierced its claw on my arms.

"The wound isn't that bad. At least, I should've wrapped it with the cloth…" It took not long for me to close off the wound using the cloth. And as I glanced over to the Mazard's corpse I had killed earlier, my eyes widened.

"Crap, is it about to harden already?" I hurriedly went to the kitchen to search for the sharpest thing I could get.

And out of all that, all I could find is the… Rusty knife. It was better than nothing, no matter how rustic it was, it helped me a lot until the day almost made the full round. As I got the knife, I went back to Mazard's corpse and pierced its neck, which is the second weak spot after the eyes.

The reason I do all this is for the Mazard's skin which is really durable, it can be used as a shield or any other defensive stuff I could think of. I discovered this at some point when I was thinking if I wanted to use its skin to make clothes.

A normal knife couldn't cut the skin apart HELL even the rusty one couldn't. So every time I do this I have to use every last bit of my own strength to rip this skin apart until I get the amount I wanted to. As I was ripping the skin, I glanced over the small table in the living room, its upper part has been separated from its foot which is convenient to me.

As soon as I ripped off the skin, I quickly wrapped the round-shaped board with Mazard's skin. Front to back, I covered the whole surface with its skin. As for the handler, I later used it with the rope and glued it with the super glue I found inside this house.

Finishing what I wanted to do, I picked up any small wood I could find and grouped it together in one spot. It's for starting a fire so I could cook this flesh. But first of all, I don't have any way to start a fire. And that's going to be revealed when I find a way to start the fire easily, which I wish I'd found it any sooner…

But thanks to the 'Source of Knowledge', I have found a way to manually start a fire. Even if I had to ounce every last bit of my energy. Thus, it took a while but I made a campfire, indoors.

I pierced it on the chair leg, I cooked it using the ignited flame, and as soon as it was cooked enough. I devour it whole. The flesh of the human's rotten corpse. But the only source of food that wouldn't kill me.

(I must say, there are no maggots inside this corpse. I guess that Beacorpse gets rid of it…)

I felt a relieve sensation as I gained my energy with each bite I took. Still, it tasted horrible considering how long this corpse was left hanging in the open for days, months, maybe years. In this cruel world, survival means throwing all of your humanity. Even I had to strip naked, even I had to piss and poop outside, or even I had to become a cannibal all only to survive for at least 1 day…

I finished the whole bowl, like the day before. And every time I finished it, I had tears in my eyes.

Was it because I threw my humanity? Or was it because I reminisced about having to go through all of that horrible stuff? I have failed to realize this before, but I guess I just like my stomach filled.

And also, there was another thing I've yet to mention…

After doing my research at the 'Source of Knowledge', Even if I said it multiple times, I have come to the conclusion that… It wasn't a human I ate.

It never was…

I come out of the shadow, along with the stuff I stored inside the cloth. And one other thing…

The Mazard's corpse, I dragged it out by its tail and left trails of golden and yellowish blood. I have said that every entity has poisoned flesh, so why did I do it? What other use could I do with its remains? One thing… It only has one last purpose to do in my favor.

I let go of the tails as soon as I reach the middle of the street…

I stared up at the darkness, which had countless eyes that stared back before me. I lifted my legs and stomped down the Mazardt's head to bits. I stomped a few times, making sure the remains turned to paste. It goes not only for the head, but also for the rest of its body. The torso, its four legs, and spiky tails are also not excluded.

The Mazard's remains turned into a paste like I want to, as I inhale and exhale out of tiredness. I glance back into the darkness. The darkness did not stare back; it had gone… Out of fear… Out of cowardly…

The corpse remains to serve as the sacrifice for me to gain my place in this land. As a being that's strong among the weak…

For the rest of the day, until death comes apart, I will at least have a comfortable time not being stared down…

Everything I've wanted to do here is done.

Thus, the next place I wanted to go was… "The Source of Knowledge".
