Chapter 41 - Chapter 41: Goodbye and Restoration

The two quickly arrived at the entrance of the Pokémon Center. It was the first time Bellsprout had seen such a beautiful building.

"Spri? Spri spri spri!"

It excitedly exclaimed that this place was much bigger and better-looking than their home.

The last time it had come here, it was inside a Poké Ball, so it hadn't seen the full view. This was its first time truly taking in the entire Pokémon Center.

Shocked and thrilled, Bellsprout looked around curiously, turning its head this way and that, full of excitement.

"Bellsprout, don't embarrass me! Keep your voice down, or I'll put you back in the Poké Ball," Icarus whispered awkwardly.

He had already noticed several people staring at them. Bellsprout's cries were not quiet at all.

"Spri? Spri…"

Realizing that many people were looking at it, Bellsprout lowered its voice.

"Come on. Let's go to the newcomer registration desk first and see if Luna is there."

Since he was already here, Icarus decided to greet his old classmate. Maybe he could even get a small favor.

Following the signs, he led Bellsprout to the newcomer registration counter, where Luna was playing on her phone.

"Ahem! Student Luna, it's not very professional to play on your phone during work hours," Icarus said deliberately.

"Ah!"

Startled, Luna dropped her phone to the floor.

"Oh! You scared me—so it's you, Icarus!"

Seeing that it was an acquaintance rather than a supervisor, she patted her chest in relief and quickly picked up her phone.

"By the way, are all the staff here this relaxed?" Icarus asked teasingly.

"It's just me. I handle new trainer registration. You know our town barely produces a few trainers a year."

She rolled her eyes at him helplessly.

"Anyway, Icarus, why haven't you come to the Pokémon Center these past few days? I thought I'd see you often. Have you been training? Has your Pokémon been seriously injured? Let me see how it's doing."

Perhaps because she rarely saw acquaintances at work, she asked several questions in a row.

"Uh… here, let it say hello first. Bellsprout, come greet Luna."

"Spri spri (ω)."

Having been warned beforehand, Bellsprout greeted her enthusiastically.

"Wow! Hello there! You've grown so much!"

Luna gently patted its head.

"Spri (●—●)."

Although it didn't fully understand why it had to be friendly, it still followed Icarus's instructions.

"Hey! Has your Bellsprout reached the high level of the beginner stage? And these scars—this must be from serious wild battles!"

Luna quickly noticed its progress.

After all, even though she got the job through connections, she still had the necessary basic knowledge. Otherwise, unless she were part of the Joy family, she wouldn't be working here.

"That's impressive, Icarus. The beginner stage can be fast, but it's rare to see such a solid foundation and real combat experience."

"Haha, thank you for the compliment, Luna. My family isn't well-off, and I can't afford premium feed. If I want Bellsprout to absorb enough energy, I have to take it into real battles early."

He lowered his head slightly, pretending to be modest.

"Oh… I'm sorry. And don't be so formal. Just call me Luna."

She waved her hand lightly.

"So, you came here to check on Bellsprout? It doesn't look injured."

"Actually, I want to use a treatment voucher to remove its scars."

"Just for scars? That's such a waste!"

She looked at him in surprise.

"How about this—I'll ask a colleague to help treat it. You should save your voucher for a more serious situation."

"Wouldn't that be too much trouble for you…?"

Though secretly pleased, Icarus pretended to hesitate.

"Oh please, we're classmates. Don't tell me you don't trust me."

"How could I not trust you? Of course I do. Here—Bellsprout's Poké Ball."

He immediately recalled Bellsprout and handed the Poké Ball to her.

"Good. Just call me Luna from now on. Don't be so formal."

Although she tried to sound stern, there was obvious satisfaction in her expression.

"Alright, Luna."

After a short while, she returned.

"Here you go. Fully restored."

"Thank you so much, Luna."

He bowed gratefully.

"No need to be so polite. You're always overly formal," she said, turning her head slightly, her face faintly flushed.

After chatting briefly, Icarus said goodbye and left the Pokémon Center.

Once outside, he let out a small smile.

"Looks like the relationship meter went up a bit."

Then he shook his head, refocusing his thoughts.

"Alright. Come out, Bellsprout."

"Spri spri!"

After being inside the Poké Ball for a while, Bellsprout complained a little.

"Okay, okay. My fault. Let me check if the scars are really gone."

He crouched down and carefully inspected every part of its body.

"Good. Completely healed."

Relieved, he stood up.

"Let's go home, Bellsprout."

"Spri spri."

At the mention of home, it nodded happily.

No matter how large and luxurious the Pokémon Center was, without Icarus, it didn't feel like home.
