Chapter 40 - Being escorted

The monster before crashing down had compressed all the thunder on his body towards his head and that caused even more destruction.

As at the last moment, the monster didn't hit. He stabilized in the air, but the compressed lightning didn't stop there, but it burst apart and diverged everywhere and ran rampant.

"Wherever it went, it brought destruction and death with it. Bolts of lightning kept falling even though Noel and the others weren't safe from them.

Seraphina had put up the gravitational field to protect them, with Neil attacking the bolts with his own bolts, which didn't do much other than just lighten the sky.

Rain kept falling on them before it didn't affect them much, but now the chunk of rock which they were standing on had become so wet that standing there perfectly was a difficult endeavor.

I can't hold on for much longer, Seraphina said with gritted teeth, with her hands trembling from keeping the field.

"But it looked like the lady luck smiled upon them again.

As the lightning around the monster cleared for a moment, they got to see the entity's full body for the first time.

It looked like a mixture of snakes or like an eastern dragon with green and black scales on it with him holding a long chain made up of fully red lighting that was distorting the surrounding space.

Faint spatial tears were already appearing. The monster again swiped his claws and took off.

The sound of something breaking in the air sounded as he went. He looked like a thunder god as he traveled the city, wherever he went, his speed which was so fast that—

Noel and others only saw a single spark and then everything in the radius of 500 meters was illuminated with sparks of thunder which quickly spread all over the city like a network.

"And before they knew it, the sky was again illuminated with thunder, and the last thing Noel and the others saw was a huge pillar of light before the sky was split apart by the monster, and it crossed the ozone layer going towards space.

With him leaving, the rain stopped, the dark clouds which had gathered swept away, and the sky again became as it was before, but just looking down at the city it was a huge contrast from before.

"It is practically a disaster. Noel said, looking at the city.

Where still the thunder sparks were there. Sometimes bursting apart and sometimes causing explosions.

Huge craters had formed in the ground as roads were swept away by the force of the monster. Many people had just lost their lives, but even traces of their bodies were destroyed.

Him mmm, hmmmmmm, hmmmmmm

Sirens suddenly rang in the whole city.

It's a red alert, meaning the ministry will be here shortly. Said Seraphina with a frown.

She didn't want to deal with the ministry right now, but it looked like fate had other plans.

In their view, military helicopters and jets were coming at full speed.

Let's go, we shouldn't be in the sky at this time. Seraphina said, and by hovering over the chunk of road they quickly reached the ground.

"Just then they all felt something behind them.

Noel and the others turned quickly and were surprised as a strange green fog was behind them.

The fog, which was intangible, quickly rose in the air and, like phantoms of shadows, familiar faces greeted them.

From the fog wearing black armor, silhouettes emerged. They were the dark knights which before had met them.

Whereas before there were only 15 or 20 of them, this time they numbered in the hundreds.

With all of them surrounding Noel and the others with the help of the strange green fog.

Noel turned his head in the back, front, right and left, even above them standing in the building debris which was left behind.

These dark knights are everywhere, Noel muttered, looking at them.

From this horde of dark knights, a woman walked forward as he walked. Every knight bowed to give respect to the woman.

A murmur spread in the knights seeing her. They still didn't dare to let their eyes wander.

Seraphina also saw the familiar face as her eyes opened wide. She was first surprised, then shocked and then in disbelief. Her face showed many emotions at one time. She opened her mouth to say something but no words came out.

Like others, she and Neil too, bowed down. Leaving Noel, who couldn't care less about her and these knights.

What a hassle, first that knights now these women why they only come towards us and don't they have anybody else. Noel thought.

The woman came near the group and saw them, but then her eyes turned towards Noel, who was sitting on the ground and digging his ear.

Her face twitched, seeing that the other knights were also glaring at him.

"Why do I feel like someone is cursing me? So what? Like I care. Noel thought

Noel saw nobody was talking and there was absolute silence there. He looked up, and he got to see a beautiful figure standing there.

"She had short black hair that was waving in the wind, wearing a long cloak inside it, a black shirt and long boots, she easily towered over other men and was like six feet tall.

But when Noel saw her face, which was so beautiful but right now, she was looking at him with unconstrained fury.

Aah, have I done something? Noel asked, scratching his head being embarrassed.

You still have the dare to ask me this. I am a high-ranking officer of the ministry? Shouldn't you have some respect towards me? The woman said in a flat tone.

"Huh, I guess I should have. Well, don't worry, I will give you respect when we meet next time, so can we leave right now? Noel asked, but this time his voice changed. It became deeper and sharper.

No, you will all come with me to the council. We need info about what has transpired here, and only you have all seen it clearly and looking at your condition, you are all unharmed too. The woman again replied in a flat tone.

If we refuse to co-operate? Noel asked again without any respect towards her.

Which made the situation tense and even Seraphina and others turned towards him trying to convey something.

Before the situation could spiral, one of the dark knights came forward and replied.

Don't be apprehensive towards us, we just want to know the truth then you can leave all you want. He said in a single breath, his hands shivering, showing that he was too nervous to do it, but this did the work as well.

OK, but remember these 4 are your council members, not me, so don't expect me to diverge any information that I don't want to. Noel replied.

"Let's go,

The woman's voice echoed, and again the strange green fog covered all the dark knights, and they disappeared, their whereabouts unknown.

"Click.

The woman took out a key and did a motion of unlocking something in the air.

What is that going to do now? Noel thought.

But his eyes opened wide when, like a shattering of a glass, the space broke and from it stood a single—.

"It's a Portal.

The voice of Seraphina echoed in his ears.
