Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: System Improvement

The 6-hour period was changed to 24 hours, making it easier for cause and effect to occur. The city's population was changed to 90%, so the conditions were not as stringent as before and were easier to set. Another aspect is replenishing the body. Mo Chen's setting is that he replenishes his body, but it doesn't specify how much. It's left to the system to decide, so as to consume the least amount of causal value.

After confirming, Mo Chen unscrewed the cap and poured the reddish-purple, dark purple goji berry water into the reservoir. A strong aroma wafted into Mo Chen's mouth and nose, making him feel so good that he almost exploded on the spot. This goji berry water, with its ten-thousand-fold efficacy, is indeed incredibly potent.

The goji berry water that entered the water began to spread rapidly in all directions at a speed visible to the naked eye. Mo Chen estimated that at this rate, it would be completely diluted in two or three hours.

"Hehe!!" Mo Chen chuckled as he looked at the reservoir. He seemed to see countless beautiful women... oops, countless causal values rolling upwards.

Just as Mo Chen was lost in his sweet dream, a sudden scream rang out.

"Hey, kid, what are you doing?"

Mo Chen turned his head and saw a middle-aged man pointing at him angrily from a hundred meters away. The middle-aged man was wearing a dark blue uniform with the words "Water Supply Station" clearly visible on his chest, indicating that he was a staff member of the water supply station, most likely responsible for patrolling. After all, the safety of the reservoir still needs to be guaranteed, so it's normal to have patrol personnel.

Mo Chen's heart skipped a beat. Could it be that he had been seen pouring goji berry water earlier?

"I'm planning to go fishing, so I'm just checking out the spot." Although Mo Chen was panicking inside, he remained calm on the surface.

"Do you think I'm blind? What's that red liquid in the water?" the middle-aged man said, jogging towards Mo Chen.

Mo Chen looked at the reservoir and chuckled. "There's still a huge pool of red goji berries that haven't been diluted yet."

It couldn't be more obvious.

"Would you believe me if I said these were goji berries?" Mo Chen replied before turning and running away.

"Stop right there, kid!" The middle-aged patrolman quickened his pace.

"I'm not lying to you!" Mo Chen took off running; only a fool would stop.

In this way, Mo Chen, with his excellent sprint and long-distance running skills as a young man, left the patrolman far behind. He walked through a grove of trees, found his shared bike, scanned the code to unlock it in one smooth motion, and sped off like the wind. In the blink of an eye, he disappeared down the path.

On the other side.

The middle-aged patrolman was panting heavily and squatted down in the woods to rest. "Back in my school days, I was the city's sprint champion. I never thought... sigh, I'm getting old."

After resting for a few minutes, the patrolman stood up, sighed as he looked at Mo Chen, who had already disappeared from sight, and turned back towards the reservoir.

A dozen minutes later, he stood by the reservoir, looking at the large expanse of red water with a puzzled expression. What is that kid pouring out? Why does it smell so good? He thought it smelled delicious and picked it up to take a bite, but he didn't dare. What if it was some kind of deadly poison?

After observing for a few minutes, he noticed that the red liquid was rapidly diluting into the reservoir, so he took out his phone to report to his superiors. But when he took out his phone, an accident happened. He accidentally dropped the phone into the water and instinctively reached out to catch it. But he overestimated his reaction speed and balance... his foot slipped, and he fell into the water with a splash.

"Gulp gurgle~~"

In his panic, he drank several large mouthfuls of water from the reservoir that had already turned red.

"It smells so good!" The strong smell of goji berries hit the patrolman's brain directly. The patrolman, who had only choked on water, was instantly dazed and stumbled to the shore.

And then... he fainted.

While unconscious, he clearly felt something hot rush into his kidneys.

An hour later, when the stationmaster and his staff found him, he was lying on the shore, clutching his lower back with both hands, his face bearing a mysterious expression; it was hard to tell whether he was laughing or crying.

Inside Mo Chen's room.

Mo Chen was unaware of the water supply station patrolman's unconsciousness, and he didn't care to know. Since the system has already deducted his causal value, and he has poured all the goji berry water into the reservoir, thus fulfilling the "cause" in the plan, the system must now fulfill the "effect" in the plan. Otherwise, why should value be deducted?

Mo Chen didn't dwell too much on the incident at the reservoir; he was now thinking about another issue. That is, how to improve this system. Every time Mo Chen sets insufficient causal values, the system will just stupidly say that the causal values are insufficient, without specifying how much is missing. Mo Chen had to try several times almost every time to succeed, which was really inconvenient, so he decided to complete the system's functions himself.

Open the text box and enter:

[Because Mo Chen wanted to improve the system's prompt function to indicate the amount of missing causality value, the system's prompt function was improved.]

Submit.

[This setting requires 1 causality value. Confirm?]

"WTF!" Mo Chen exclaimed in shock, rubbing his eyes. "Did I see that right? Only 1 value deducted?"

"Sure."

Okay, whatever the reason why only such a small causality value is needed, let's get this figured out first. After Mo Chen clicked "Confirm," there was no response. That's true, it just adds a prompt, but what kind of reaction can it generate?

Mo Chen started his experiments again. He opened the system and typed:

[Because Mo Chen drank a sip of water, he became a Great Luo Golden Immortal.]

Submit.

[Insufficient causality value. Please increase causality value.]

Haha, it really worked! But... how much causality value did it take? One, ten, hundred, thousand, tens of thousands... one trillion? Goodbye!

After realizing that he couldn't "become a Buddha on the spot," Mo Chen began to ponder the arduous task of perfecting the system. He hadn't forgotten that improving the function only cost 1 causality value, which was incredibly cheap. It seems that this system adding its own settings is really not a good thing. Since that's the case, then let's take a good look at it.

He typed again:

[Because Mo Chen wanted to tidy up the Book of Causes and Effects system, a detailed user manual for the Book of Causes and Effects system was created.]

Submit.

[This setting requires 1 causality value. Confirm?]

Mo Chen: "..."

I really want to punch someone!!!

To figure out how the system worked, Mo Chen had spent a lot of brain cells and conducted numerous experiments before he finally understood it. Now, it's all settled with just 1 causality value. What about all that he did before? Okay, enough with the sentimentality. Who told me I didn't have enough imagination before!

Mo Chen: "Confirmed."

The system panel changed.

The system panel, which originally only had a text box, now included user instructions.
