Chapter 1 - CHAPTER 1

The evening sun painted the sky in shades of orange and pink, filling the neighborhood park with warmth. Children ran around laughing, parents sat on nearby benches chatting, and the sound of birds echoed softly through the trees.

Among all of them, a tiny five-year-old girl was happily swinging as high as her little legs could manage. Her long hair danced with the breeze while her cheerful giggles filled the air.

She had no worries.

No fears.

Just a chocolate tucked safely inside her pocket and a smile brighter than the evening sun.

Suddenly, loud shouting caught her attention.

She slowed down on the swing and looked toward the other side of the park.

A little boy, no older than four, was trapped in the middle of four or five boys. One pushed him from behind while another snatched the small toy car from his hands.

"Give it back..." the little boy pleaded, trying to hold back his tears.

Instead, they laughed.

One of them, a chubby boy who seemed to be the leader, shoved him onto the ground.

The tiny girl frowned.

Without a second thought, she jumped off the swing and marched toward them with determined little steps.

"Leave him alone!" she shouted.

The boys turned around.

For a moment, they simply stared at the tiny girl standing in front of them.

Then the chubby boy burst into laughter.

"Oh, look! A hero came to save him!"

The others laughed with him.

The little girl puffed her cheeks in annoyance.

"Not a hero..." she corrected proudly. "A heroine!"

Her tiny voice was adorable.

But the confidence in it made the boys stop laughing for a second.

"Now let him go."

The chubby boy smirked and stepped closer.

"And what if I don't?"

The little girl didn't answer.

Instead...

Punch!

Her tiny fist landed right on his face.

The boy stumbled backward before falling flat onto the grass.

Silence.

Even the children playing nearby stopped for a moment.

The remaining boys looked at their fallen leader, then at the fearless little girl.

"W-We should run!"

Within seconds, they grabbed nothing—not even the toy car—and fled as fast as their tiny legs could carry them.

The little girl dusted her hands proudly, as if she had just completed the easiest task in the world.

Only then did she turn toward the little boy.

He was still sitting on the ground, staring at her with wide eyes.

She stretched out her tiny hand.

"Are you okay?"

The boy nodded slowly before accepting her hand.

She helped him stand up.

Tilting her head innocently, she asked in her slightly stumbling voice,

"What's your name?"

"My name is Veer."

A bright smile instantly spread across her face.

"I'm Rani."

Veer blinked.

He couldn't understand how someone so small could be so brave.

She wasn't scared.

She didn't hesitate.

She had simply walked in and saved him.

After standing quietly for a few seconds, he finally gathered enough courage to ask,

"C-Can we... be friends?"

Rani thought seriously, placing one finger on her chin.

"My mommy said I shouldn't make friends with strangers."

Veer's hopeful expression slowly disappeared.

A second later, Rani grinned.

"But... I'll make an exception."

Before he could react, she pulled a small chocolate out of her pocket and placed it in his tiny hand.

"This is for you."

Veer looked at the chocolate, then at the smiling girl in front of him.

For the first time that day...

He smiled.

Neither of them realized that this brief meeting in an ordinary park was only a small chapter in their childhood—a memory that time would bury, but fate would one day bring back when their lives had become completely different.
