Chapter 3 - New skill

The snake snapped its snout shut on Vin's arm. The pain from the fangs that pierced his skin made Vin grit his teeth.

"Ugh!"

It's hurt, but still endurable! Thought Vin inwardly.

He focused his mind toward the snake. As a result, a screen displaying its information showed up before him.

[Name: Lesser Giant Snake.]

[Race: Monster.]

[Level: 4]

[HP: 79/80]

[MP: 0/0]

[SP: 40/60]

[STR: 12] [MAG: 0]

[END: 8] [INT: 2]

[Speed: 6] [Luck: 3]

[Description: A low-level snake-type monster that often seen in tropical forestations. Named after Giant Snake because of their similar characteristics, but Lesser Giant Snake was smaller in size. Possessed venom that capable of paralizing a cow two hours after injection.]

Vin sighed relievedly after he read its status.

'It was only weak monster. I should be able to handle it no problem with my high stats. The only concerning part was its venom... Could my body resist it? It's better can... Since I don't want to die...'

The snake began to struggle and trying to tear Vin's arm, but Vin grabbed its neck before it could do more fatal damage to him.

Vin was about to crush its head when he recalled about the kid. He immediately his head turned around to check the kid's condition.

"Hey, kid! You okay? I'll handle this snake, you better hurry and return to othe—"

Before Vin could even finish everything that he wanted to say, the young boy suddenly pushed him toward the snake. Vin never expect that the young boy would harm him in any way in this situation, since he had just saved him in pinch.

The push was not that strong since it came from a frail boy, but it was so unexpected that Vin lost his balance and fell to the ground right beside the snake's body. It allowed the snake to reach him with its long body, and it began to coil around him in desperate attempt to kill him.

Seeing this, the boy immediately ran away toward the hill.

Vin was stunned.

He freeze in place for a moment, his hands cupped unconsciously, which killing the snake coiled around him.

[You have successfully killed Lesser Giant Snake level 4!]

[You have leveled up from level 0 to level 1!]

"Huh?

He just couldn't understand.

Why did he pushed him toward the snake?

...

"It was confirmed then. My body is immune to this snake's venom."

Vin waited for ten minutes, but still didn't feel like anything was wrong with his body after being bitten by the snake.

Of course he was not idle while waiting there. He checked his status after leveled up.

Needless to say, his stats has been improved slightly, with MAG and INT stats as his main improvement priorities. It is seems that he was built as mage. He decided to learn any magic he found later to utilize his stats better.

Then... Skill point.

[Skill point: 1.]

He got one skill point after level up.

"I wonder how I could use it..."

As if on cue, three separated screens appeared before Vin after he thought about it.

[Option 1: Light magic°1.]

[Requirement: Exclusive to members of Light.]

[Option 2: Light speed.]

[Requirement: Exclusive to members of Light.]

[Option 3: Physical Coordination.]

"Hmm... I see, so three options system is used here, huh? I better wait until my level raised to level 4 before I attempt to get new skill since I won't know whether the unselected options would reappear or not."

After taking note of that in his mind, Vin began to consider his choice.

Unfortunately, he couldn't use Appraisal to check the information of these skills. He could only imagine their effects according to their names.

"Light magic is a magic, just as the name suggested. It would be extremely useful for me with my high magical stats... Light speed... I am not sure... Maybe it was a movement type skill? Then Physical Coordination... It was clearly the most normal option. Maybe it would help me improve my physical coordination, yeah, just as the name suggested..."

In the end, Vin chose Physical Coordination.

[You have chosen Skill: Physical Coordination.]

There's many reason why he chose it, one of it being he felt like his control over his new body with its high spek was still rough. He hope this skill would help him regarding this matter.

But in the end, the biggest reason was because he afraid that normal skill like Physical Coordination would not reappear once more after being unselected.

For Light magic and Light speed, with his Bloodline, hopefully, he would meet them again later.

"Ohh... My body felt lighter and easier to control!"

The effect of Physical Coordination was immediate.

It immediately showed it usefulness. Until now, it was hard for Vin to control his power after he received his Bloodline. He was like a motorcycle boy who suddenly forced to ride a truck. He just couldn't quite grasp it right. He even accidentally killed the snake before just because he feel slightly irritated by what the boy had done to him.

With Physical Coordination, he at least have a dedicated tutor beside him who could support him in riding this 'truck' whenever needed.

"Nice choice!"

Now that he had confirmed that the snake's venom is ineffective to him and he had also finished selected new skill, it was time to face the reality.

Vin looked at the hill where shanties were packed with people.

He sighed and get up.

"Alright, let's go and see then..."
