While Louis thought that Fuyuko was pretty tall, this lady is even bigger, something about 6'5"? Maybe bigger? And she looks very built and has some sort of baseball cap on her long, white hair in a ponytail, with two golden metal gauntlets on her hands, she also…is using shades? it should be getting close to midnight…
[She seems pretty menacing already even without beating up that person on the floor.]
"Ok now, buddy! How about you start speaking before I remind you why they call me "Star Death"! She says while stepping on the downed enemy.
The cloaked person flails but doesn't seem to be able to get away.
Laura approaches the lady slowly and tries to signal something to her.
"? What's up with you, brat? Trying to cast some trash on me?"
At a speed that Louis couldn't even see, the tall lady grabbed Laura by the head, and she just puts her hands up in surrender.
Louis rushes to the other side and mimics a motion to stop and tries to sign that they can't speak currently.
"Eh? What's wrong? Say something! Can't speak? Ah…" In a moment of realization, she lets Laura go.
"Well, let me fix this then!" Power surges in arcs of light around her and shoot up into the night sky; for a brief while it seems like it's back at daytime.
"Can you all speak now?" She speaks with a booming voice.
"…Yes?" Louis is the first to try.
"I think things are fine now…" Laura adds.
"Ugh, sorry…? Can you take me to the hospital or something?" The cloaked person finally says something.
"Aren't you too entitled to someone who was about to die? You owe each of these kids a life!"
"Hiiiee… have some mercy…"
"Shut up!" The lady smacks the head of the intruder.
"Anyhow, you two are Fuyuko's students, right?"
"Yes." Laura responds.
"Nice to meet you, by the way, can you cast some bindings on this fellow while I hold them down?"
"Bandages too?"
"Bandages first; if she bleeds on the bindings, they can come undone too soon."
"Understood!"
"Sorry, by the way, who are you, were you inside the flare?" Louis asks.
"Inside the flare?? HAHAHA, of course not. Anyhow, you can call me Instructor Sofie. I believe Fuyuko should have told you about me already, right?"
"Well, she just told us we had an instructor and what they did; she didn't tell us about you specifically."
"Really?" Sofie looks to Laura for confirmation..
"Uh, yeah."
"What a bitch! I thought we were friends! I will complain to the principal!"
"Uh…"
"Well, at least you have heard of the name STAR DEATH™ before, right?"
"Uh…" Louis looks to Laura as well.
"I heard you are pretty strong."
Sofie grins happily. "You heard right! HAHA, I will have you know I am the strongest in the tri-state area! And…" As it looks like she is going to start talking for a while, Louis figures it might be better to pull her attention to some other topic.
"Ah, so uh… What do we do about this fellow?"
"Oh, easy! The guards should be getting here in a bit; worst case, they can deal with her later!"
"PLEASE, I DIDN'T EVEN DO ANYTHING YET!!!"
"Haha, very funny. Unregulated mana beast breeding and trafficking is a crime; take it to the judge. Furthermore, you fellows jumped the other people sent to investigate! And who knows what you would have done to the kids if I wasn't here!"
"I… Uh… I wanna go home…"
"Shut it." As Laura finishes her binding, Sofie gives a kick to the cloaked person.
"Ugh…"
"Hey, are Fuyuko and Jeanne ok? You just said the people investigating are getting attacked!"
"I was going around and fighting beasts left and right, so the first one I talked to was Fuyuko. I helped her out for a moment, and she should have gone to check out the other student. Anyhow, whoever used these flares first, I would pop right out; I got skills to handle light, so I made those."
"That is really cool! This seems like aura stuff; can I learn it?" Louis asks, as shooting light beams out of his fingers seems like loads of fun.
Sofie pulls up her glasses and takes a look at Louis with her deep purple eyes. "Well, it's a bit complicated, but I can teach you some tricks later. I remember Fuyuko telling me about you a few days ago."
"Anyhow! Give me a second and then light another flare, ok?" Without giving the students time to respond, she grabs the person in the cloak and disappears in a flash of light.
"Huh… Laura…?"
"Yeah…?" Laura responds with her face scrunched up.
"Did we have another flare like those?"
"I didn't even know about this… I thought a flare spell was enough…"
"What now?"
"Might as well give it a shot…" Laura points up and starts casting.
*Rising Flare*
A fireball goes from Laura's wand and up into the sky; once it's high up, an explosion follows!
And then nothing happens.
"…"
"…"
"Uh, I think…"

From the east a light shoots up to where the flare exploded and then down into the ground.
"Huff… Puff… Hey! You should have just used my flare… I had to basically walk all the way over here from the guard station…"
"Uh, sorry, we just had one flare; we left the others with the rest of the team." Louis says.
"Oh whatever, anyhow, have you guys slept yet?"
"I haven't yet." Laura responds.
"I see. Ok, here is what we will be doing: you go to sleep, Louis, keep watch, I'll get the rest of the team, and then we eat something at, uh, 1 or 2 o'clock? Yeah, let's do that; tomorrow might be a bit nasty! Understood?"
"Yeah…?"
"Understood."
"Ah, by the way, if you need me, you can do the same flare, ya know." And with that, she zaps away.
"…That was a bit crazy…" Louis comments.
"Yeah… What is her prob…"
bzt "Hey! I found a dog!" And once again she came back, carrying a bloodied werewolf with her.
"WOO YA CALLIN' DOG!" Jeanne complains while trying to struggle away in Sofie's back.
Sofie drops Jeanne and leaves again.
"WUT DA HELL! Oh…" Jeanne then starts morphing back to a normal human. "Hey guys!"
"Jeanne, are you doing ok? You look nasty!" Louis asks worriedly.
"She is fine." Laura concludes.
"Yeah, All good, not my blood!"
"Oh, that's great, I think…"
"What have you been up to, Jeanne? We thought recon would be quick; Louis was already thinking about going to find you!"
"Oh, really? Hehehe, well, first it was just a few mana beasts here and there, but I guess we got traffickers around, so they tried to get me!"
"Yeah, I figure if you go around hunting them, they would try to stop you."
"Ah, you don't get it; they thought I was a mana beast too, so they pretty much had a hunting squad ready to capture me."
"Oh! And then you…?"
Right next to Louis he feels a presence appear, so he jumps to the side, and from there dust rises up and forms a human figure.
"Hello guys! It's me! Reconnaissance done!" It's Fuyuko.
"Everyone seems to be back and ready for a quick rest!" Fuyuko looks at the signs of battle in the camp and comments, "Seems you guys already met your instructor!"
"Who?" Jeanne asks.
"Ah, just that miss that dragged you here."
"I don't like her already…"
"Maybe we should call her back? She went to look for you, teacher! She said we should eat something in a bit." Louis comments.
"You are right, Louis, and I have just the thing!" She pulls out some sort of flashlight and points it up, spends a moment blinking it to the sky and after a little while…

Once again she shows up, again carrying something.
"Bought dinner, folks!" Said Sofie while a huge purple deer with iron-like horns, though it seems to have a hole where the forehead would be.
The team responds with mixed reactions.
"Uh, are we going to dismantle and cook that right now? It's over midnight already…" Louis asks.
"We still have fresh food on the backpacks… We could just heat it up…?" Laura seems reluctant to eat that thing.
"Eh, As a werewolf, I can just eat that raw! Some stuff tastes even better than cooked like that for me!" Jeanne comments.
"Come on everyone, you might as well check out how we dismantle it the modern way! You never know when you might need that skill! We can worry more about the mission tomorrow!" Fuyuko adds.
"Yeah, well, the guards are surrounding the mission zone anyway; we got lucky! We might get paid extra for this; our job was to only get rid of the flowing mana beast, so bad luck on the client side!" Sofie concludes!
"And well, you can say the entire team is here now, right, Fuyuko?" Sofie asks
"Hm, you can say so!"
"Yeah, right! So you three, check this out!" Sofie cups her hands and presents them to Laura, Jeanne, and Louis.
As she opens them, it looks like small silent fireworks. pop up right above them.
"Nice to meet you guys! I am Sofie, and now we form Sorcery Team 13 from your sorcery school! Let's work well from now on! Happy new year or whatever!"
