"You didn't have to come all the way here, Amanda," Melissa groaned as they walked side by side along the pedestrian path.
"How could I not?" Amanda sighed, shaking her head. "My dear little sister ran away from home and doesn't even have a bus card."
Melissa had always been like this. She was a genius when it came to academics and engineering, but the moment it involved things most people considered trivial, she became hopelessly clueless.
"I just remember the important things," Melissa muttered with a frown.
She had a feeling Amanda was laughing at her on the inside.
They stopped at a family restaurant, where Amanda ordered a full meal after seeing how hungry Melissa was.
Once they were seated across from each other, Amanda asked,
"Tell me, Milli. If I bought you a house and gave you enough money to live comfortably, what would you do?"
"I'd hibernate," Melissa answered without the slightest hint of humor. "I'd get a beanbag, lock myself in my room, and never come out."
