Chapter 144 - The Annihilated X-Men Squad and Tony's Obstruction

"Within my domain, your sight, smell, and hearing will be stripped away."

Matthew's voice was cold and resolute, carrying an irresistible power.

His words echoed through the air, each syllable leaving a deep imprint. Though he knew they couldn't hear him, he still walked among them, explaining his actions.

"Rest assured, I won't kill you," Matthew added.

His voice betrayed a profound sense of helplessness and disappointment, as if he were speaking to them—and to himself.

He was not a man who enjoyed killing. In years past, he had sent countless criminals to prison, firmly believing that federal law would bring justice to everyone.

Yet, the scene before him forced him to re-examine his faith.

The very Federal Government he had always trusted was now attacking his home.

The faith he had held so dear crumbled in an instant, replaced by endless rage and disappointment.

The justice and fairness he once believed in now seemed utterly ironic and laughable.

Despite the fury and despair consuming him, Matthew still clung to his own moral line—he would not kill.

His eyes held a look of grim resolve, as if he were telling himself that no matter what happened, he would never abandon his line.

He slowly approached Shockwave. The blade in his hand glinted as he swung it, and the air seemed to tear open.

Shockwave was still lost in the endless darkness and silence. The sudden, searing pain jolted him awake. Blood stained his vision red as he collapsed, powerless to resist.

Matthew's gaze was cold and deep, as if he had foreseen this all along.

He showed no satisfaction at Shockwave's defeat. Instead, he turned his attention to his next target—Iceman—with even greater composure.

His voice echoed through the air: "The only way you could have seen this coming was by holding the sword in my hand. But you've already missed your chance." His tone was calm and ruthless, like a judge pronouncing a death sentence.

With that, he swung his blade at Iceman, who was still groping blindly in the dark. The powerful slash caught the defenseless Iceman off guard. Before he could even attempt to elementalize, he collapsed to the ground, writhing in agony.

"As for you, big guy," Matthew said, turning to Strongman. Sensing the man's formidable defense, he decided to unleash a more powerful attack.

Strongman seemed oblivious to the imminent danger.

"Why can't I see anything? Are the Captain and the others okay? They'll find a way, right?" Strongman thought optimistically, even though he couldn't hear anything.

Matthew extended his hand toward Strongman and chanted, "Hado 88: Flying Dragon Strike, Heaven-Shaking Thunder Cannon!"

A massive wave of light surged toward Strongman. Its sheer power dealt a devastating blow to his body, which hadn't yet fully hardened into steel, sending him crashing to the ground.

His eyes filled with terror and despair, as if he couldn't believe he had been defeated so easily by Matthew.

"That leaves only you, Cyclops," Matthew's voice echoed through the air as he turned to his final opponent.

Meanwhile, Cyclops remained unaware that Daredevil Matthew had already taken down his three teammates. "Since I can't see anything, I'll just attack indiscriminately. As long as I break this barrier, we'll definitely be able to get out."

"No, what if I hit Iceman and the others? If I only fire in one direction, it should be fine."

Cyclops was torn, caught in a conflict between his desire to break the barrier and his fear of harming his teammates.

Finally, he made his decision. Cyclops took a deep breath and removed his specially-made glasses.

Immediately after, a dazzling beam of light erupted from his eyes, blasting fiercely toward one side of the barrier.

Matthew felt the impact and couldn't help but feel a surge of astonishment. He never expected his enemy to possess such overwhelming power; the sheer force of the beam was enough to make his heart race with dread.

"It's useless," Matthew sneered, his voice dripping with contempt as Cyclops continued to fire beams at the same spot. "My barrier may be simple, but given your attack power, you'll collapse before you ever break through."

His words brimmed with confidence, as if he could already see the moment Cyclops would fall.

With that, Matthew began to advance slowly toward Cyclops, his blade gleaming as he prepared to deliver the final, fatal blow.

Feeling the effects of the attack on his body, Cyclops forced himself to retreat, fighting through the pain.

*Damn it, I'm not going to last much longer. What do I do?* Cyclops thought desperately.

After all, it was obvious the enemy could see them, yet he remained completely blind to his foe's position.

Matthew was surprised by Cyclops's stubborn resistance. He had expected to end the fight with a single strike, but Cyclops was still holding on. However, this didn't make him waver; instead, it only strengthened his resolve to crush his opponent.

He swung his blade again, this time aiming for Cyclops's legs.

Cyclops was knocked to the ground by Matthew's attack. He struggled to stand, but his body had already lost all strength.

However, he had also broken the barrier. The moment his vision returned, he saw a sight that ignited his fury: Iceman, Strongman, and his younger brother, Shockwave, all lying on the ground. He thought they were all dead.

Seeing this, a surge of intense anger welled up in Cyclops's heart. The thought that his friends were dead was unbearable. He struggled to rise, desperate to get revenge on Matthew.

But Matthew gave him no chance, knocking him unconscious with a single blow.

As he drifted into unconsciousness, Cyclops heard Matthew's voice: "Don't worry, they're not dead." These words brought him a small measure of peace.

Matthew sheathed his sword without sparing another glance for the four figures on the ground. He turned and headed toward other parts of Hell's Kitchen, where the sounds of battle still echoed.

He knew there were more residents there who needed his help.

"Rhodes, are you trying to stop me?" Tony asked, looking at his close friend in disbelief.
