One day before the great battle,
In the S.H.I.E.L.D. Avengers conference room, Nick Fury had already assembled the Avengers and the X-Men to jointly discuss the operational plan.
"The situation is roughly as follows," Nick Fury said in a deep voice. "The chaos in Hell's Kitchen is not what's frightening. What's frightening is Chen Ye and his subordinates. They possess immense power that could threaten world peace.
Chen Ye must be eliminated. As for his subordinates, we should try to persuade them to surrender if possible; if not, capture them alive."
"Then I wish you all success. Steve will now assign the tasks," Nick Fury said before turning and leaving. He still had his own matters to attend to.
Mister Fantastic hadn't even listened to Nick Fury's so-called plan. He was staring at the group of superheroes around him, an ambition stirring in his heart.
He thought that if he could control this much power, he would certainly do a better job than Nick Fury.
As for the line about Hell's Kitchen affecting world peace, he sneered at it.
He knew Nick Fury wanted to eliminate Chen Ye because he couldn't control that power.
He believed that if the Fantastic Four didn't join the Avengers, their fate wouldn't be any better than Chen Ye's.
In fact, he completely understood Chen Ye's actions. If he himself possessed a force as great as Hell's Kitchen, he wouldn't choose to join the Avengers either. It was just that Chen Ye was still too young; if it were him, he certainly wouldn't have soured his relationship with the Federal Government so badly.
"But soon, if those people's plan goes smoothly, I will be leading the Avengers. But I don't like the name Avengers. What should I call it?" Thinking of this, Mister Fantastic's mood improved again.
Meanwhile, Human Torch, completely unaware of Mister Fantastic's thoughts, asked his sister, Invisible Woman Susan, in a low voice, "Why do we have to capture those people alive? Why not just eliminate them directly?"
His voice was filled with confusion and doubt.
Invisible Woman Susan glanced at him, signaling him not to ask any more questions.
However, The Thing walked over and said bluntly, "What else are they going to do? The Federal Government will just use them for experimentation or brainwashing." His words sent a chill through everyone present.
Invisible Woman Susan quickly told The Thing to shut up, knowing these things couldn't be said openly. She looked at the others in the room and saw their faces filled with dissatisfaction and helplessness. She understood that they all knew, but they were powerless to change it.
As Nick Fury, the "Black Egg," vanished from the meeting room doorway, Captain America Steve slowly rose. His gaze swept across the faces of every Avenger and X-Man present. He saw a complex mix of emotions: doubt, worry, and even resistance.
"I know none of you want to be part of this war," Steve's voice echoed through the room, his eyes steady and filled with determination. "But for the sake of world peace, to stop the spread of Hell's Kitchen, and to eliminate the source of evil—Chen Ye—we must stand up!"
"I will lead the charge in this battle!" his words were like wildfire, attempting to ignite the fighting spirit of everyone present.
However, the only response was sparse applause, mainly from Hawkeye and the Human Torch.
The others paid no mind to Steve, the so-called Captain of the Avengers. Professor X gazed into the distance with a faint smile, perhaps pondering whether S.H.I.E.L.D. would also suffer the same fate as Hell's Kitchen. Where did the future of mutants lie?
His heart was filled with worry and unease, but his face remained calm and composed.
Wolverine leaned against a corner, smoking. He didn't care who the opponent was; he only wanted to know his own past. His eyes betrayed a deep sense of confusion and loneliness, as if he had lost his way in this world.
Natasha facepalmed in exasperation. Captain America's motivational speech was worse than having no speech at all.
Dr. Banner, the Hulk, didn't care who he had to fight. He hated violence and despised war.
He had joined the Avengers only for S.H.I.E.L.D.'s protection to keep the military from hunting him down. Besides, S.H.I.E.L.D.'s complete scientific equipment might even help him return to normal. He had had enough of that green brute inside him!
Seeing Hank, Mr. Beast, a fellow scientist and a mutant who could also transform, Dr. Banner began to discuss things with him.
Meanwhile, Storm strongly disagreed with Nick Fury's methods. She knew that Chen Ye was surrounded by many mutants, and she couldn't understand why they were helping the Federal Government fight their own kind.
Most of the people present had no personal grudge against Hell's Kitchen; they were only participating in this war because they were forced to as members of the Avengers.
"Alright, whether you're willing or not, just don't hold me back!" Captain America shrugged at the assembled group. No matter what, he was determined to avenge Bucky in this battle!
A resolute light gleamed in his eyes, as if nothing could shake his determination.
He knew many of the people here would probably hold back, but he didn't care. Even if it cost him his life, he would take down Chen Ye.
"Everyone here should also recognize the power of the Lord of Hell, Chen Ye. I hope you don't underestimate him, or I'm afraid you'll lose your lives in Hell's Kitchen!"
Captain America, Steve, kindly reminded everyone before turning to leave the conference room. He needed to thoroughly prepare for the upcoming great battle.
Ikaris, hovering above S.H.I.E.L.D., witnessed the scene in the conference room. He smiled at Captain Marvel, Carol, and said, "Your teammates are quite interesting, aren't they? But it seems they're not very eager to join this war." His smile carried a hint of mockery and teasing.
Carol snorted disdainfully. "I can handle it without them. I don't understand why we have to set a three-day deadline. It's just a waste of my time." Her voice dripped with confidence and contempt.
"Let's go. It's still early. Let's warm up first," Carol said, her eyes gleaming with excitement and anticipation as she looked at Ikaris, as if she couldn't wait to start the battle.
Feeling Carol's intense gaze, Ikaris hurriedly waved his hands. "Spare me!" His voice was filled with helplessness and a plea for mercy.
"Let's go," Carol said, grabbing Ikaris's hand and flying off into outer space.
Their figures quickly vanished into the vastness of space, leaving behind only silence and emptiness.
Meanwhile, in his S.H.I.E.L.D. office, Nick Fury gazed out the window, his eyes betraying a deep, calculating intensity. He had long anticipated the Avengers' reaction and had already secured an escape route for himself.
"Then I'll leave it to you," he said to the man sitting on the sofa.
To his surprise, the man was an exact double of Nick Fury himself.
