**Chapter 13: Mentality Collapsed**
Soon, a loud and arrogant laugh rang out. "Hahahaha~! I finally found these rats! To escape from the isolated island, you really do have some skill!"
"But because of you, my reputation as a great slave trader has taken a huge hit. My clients are very unhappy about this."
"When my clients are unhappy, I become even unhappier. As punishment for running away, all your family members and children left in the village will become slaves and go dig in the mines with you!"
Hearing this, the villagers panicked. "No! You demon! You can't do that!"
"The children are innocent!"
Erza was about to take action when Kaito grabbed her arm and whispered, "Don't rush. There's something I need to confirm first."
The village chief shakily stepped forward. "I'll go back as a slave, no problem. But please let the two children go."
Darlock's gaze landed on Kaito and Erza. He grinned viciously. "Let them go? Why would I let them go? These two brats nearly ruined my plans. Maria, bring the person out!"
Soon, the head maid they had seen at the villa walked over with a young maid tied up with ropes and pushed her to the ground.
"Sasha!" The woman whose daughter worked as a maid in Darlock's villa cried out.
"Mom!" The little maid looked up and shouted when she heard the voice.
Both Kaito and Erza recognized her as the young maid who had accidentally spilled tea on Darlock.
"Why did you capture my daughter?! My daughter is innocent!"
Darlock sneered, "Innocent? She's not innocent at all! I was wondering why a regular guild suddenly showed up after I had already posted a capture request with the dark guilds. It scared me half to death. So it was this stinky little brat causing trouble!"
Erza looked at the young maid in surprise. "You posted the request?"
The little maid nodded dejectedly. "Yes… While I was working, I accidentally overheard Darlock planning to capture everyone. So when I was delivering letters, I secretly sent out another request."
"I thought it would attract powerful mages, but I never expected…"
The meaning was obvious. When she saw that only a boy and a girl had come to take the request, her heart sank. That was why she had accidentally dropped the teacup, gotten beaten, and was later found out after Kaito and Erza left.
Kaito's brows relaxed. "So that's what happened. I thought it was strange that a request like this would appear in a regular guild. Things are simple now."
Kaito walked up to the little maid. "You were the one who posted the bandit extermination request, right?"
"…Yes."
"The Fairy Tail guild has accepted that request. Since we accepted it, we must complete it. This is my first mission, and my goal is a 100% success rate. I can't let it fail because of you."
"But there are no bandits here!"
Kaito smiled and pointed at the dark guild members around them. "No bandits? Can't you see them right here?"
His words, tone, and expression instantly enraged the dark guild members.
"Stinky brat?!"
"How dare you call us bandits! I'm a mage of the dark guild Black Wolf's Claw!"
"I've never even heard of Fairy Tail!"
"Sending kids as mages? That Fairy Tail guild must be really desperate! Hahahaha…"
"Buzz~! Swoosh—!"
A golden laser beam pierced straight through the forehead of the man who was laughing. With a smile still on his face, he fell over dead. Kaito's sudden killing move stunned everyone, including Erza.
Kaito looked at his own finger and muttered to himself, "Killing people, huh? I thought the first time would make me throw up… Why don't I feel much? Am I a natural-born killer? No, no, no! That can't be. I'm such a kind person. It must be because I've killed too many pigs. I just don't see these guys as humans."
Only then did the dark guild mages react.
"Damn it! He attacked first! Kill him!"
All the dark guild mages charged at Kaito.
Kaito turned to Erza and said, "Leave the fighting to me. It might get a bit loud, so protect the others and retreat farther back."
As he spoke, he pointed his finger in one direction. Golden cross-shaped light glowed at his fingertip again.
"Buzz~! Swoosh—!" Another laser beam shot out.
"Waaaaah!" The beam pierced through a man's abdomen and struck the ground.
"BOOM!!!"
A terrifying explosion erupted, shaking the entire forest.
"Uwaaaaaah!"
"Waaaaaaaah!!"
The blast sent many people flying, their screams filled with pain.
"Buzz~! Swoosh—Swoosh—Swoosh!"
"BOOM!!!"
"Aaaaaaaaah!!"
"BOOM!!!"
"Ughaaaaaaaah!!"
"BOOM!!!"
"Uwaaaaaaaaah!!"...
One golden laser beam after another fired from Kaito's fingertips. Each explosion was devastating, comparable to high-level magic.
The remaining dark guild members couldn't even fight back. Their mentality completely collapsed.
