The next to be tested was Lio, who received a C-Rank. After him came Lyra, and she also earned a C-Rank. Finally, Aelira stepped forward and received a C-Rank as well…
"Well done, you all got C-Rank. Now let's move on to the combat test, all you have to do is cut those ten iron dummies in half by going all out wile using the swords provided in the test area," Sarah explained.
Aerin went first, and as usual, he nearly instantly sliced the dummies in half with a single swing. Next was Lio, who managed to cut all ten dummies in half in just 10 seconds. After him came Lyra, taking 20 seconds to complete the task. Finally, Aelira stepped forward, finishing in 15 seconds…
"Well done. I'll announce the rankings now. Your rankings will take into account not only your magical capacity, but also your combat capacity. The highest rank is Aerin at A-Rank; everyone else is C-Rank. Aerin showed A-Rank capabilities on both tests, while you three only showed C-Rank capabilities. However, don't worry, because you can take another test once y'all get stronger to rise up in rank," Sarah explained.
"Now all we need to know is your name and we can get you those adventurer cards," Sarah said.
My name as you know is Aerin, my friends' names are Lio, Lyra, and Aelira.
"Alright, it will just take a moment for your adventurer cards to print and….tada, here are your cards," Sarah said.
"Have a great day," Sarah said as Aerin and his team walked out of the building.
Alright guys so do y'all want to go find a portal for us to clear?
"Yeah but we also need to worry about funds, we don't know if this world takes Ruples, so we should probably ask about funding," Lio said.
You're right let me go ask that lady Sarah real fast.
After Aerin got back…
The lady said we would be paid after clearing one of those portals, and apparently here they call them dungeons. But either way, we'll be paid if we clear one of those portals and go to the guard station next to it."
"Well, that clears our funding up, but what about housing?" Lyra asked.
Funny you should say that because I'm already ahead of you. Sarah said that there is free housing for adventurers up until they've completed 15 dungeon clearings, and the housing complex is right next to the Adventurers Association. However, there is one slight issue: we can only clear the portals that are labeled A-Rank, and that's only because I'm A-Rank. If I wasn't A-Rank, we would be clearing C-Rank portals.
"That's a bummer, I'm sure that limits the amount of money we can make," Aelira said with concern.
I'm sure it does, but as long as we watch our spending we'll be perfectly fine. I'm sure of it.
Well, shall we go clear a portal?
"Yeah, I'm rather bored," Lio said.
"Sure, we need money," Aelira said.
"I feel like you know the answer to that," Lyra said sarcastically.

And off they went to find a portal or what people on earth call a dungeon…

"Yeah, sounds like a good idea," Lyra replied with everyone else in agreement.

Then Aerin showed his card to the guard and they nodded in approval…
