Chapter 1 - Rahim’s Journey Through the Six Seasons of Bangladesh

In a small village of Bangladesh lived a young boy named Rahim. He loved nature very much. His grandfather used to tell him, "Bangladesh is a land of natural beauty, and it is made special by its six seasons." One day, Rahim decided to observe and understand each season throughout an entire year.

🌸 Spring (Falgun–Chaitra)

At the beginning of the year, spring arrived. Nature seemed to come back to life. New leaves grew on trees, and many flowers started to bloom. The village became colorful with red flowers like Shimul, Palash, and Krishnachura.

The weather during spring is very pleasant—neither too hot nor too cold. Birds sing happily. Spring is known as the king of seasons. People celebrate festivals like the Spring Festival and Dol Festival during this time. Rahim enjoyed collecting flowers and making garlands.

☀️ Summer (Baishakh–Jaistha)

After spring, summer slowly arrived. The heat of the sun increased, and the weather became very hot. Sometimes drought occurs, and rivers and canals begin to dry up.

However, summer is also the season of fruits. Delicious fruits such as mango, jackfruit, litchi, and watermelon become available. Sometimes strong storms called "Kalbaishakhi" occur, which are dangerous but help reduce the heat. Rahim enjoyed climbing trees to pick mangoes with his friends and stayed inside during storms.

🌧️ Rainy Season (Asharh–Shrabon)

Then came the rainy season. Dark clouds covered the sky, and continuous rainfall began. Fields, rivers, and canals filled with water. Farmers started planting rice because crops need plenty of water.

Boat travel increased during this season. However, too much rain sometimes caused floods, which created suffering for many people. Rahim loved playing in the rain and floating paper boats in the water.

🌾 Autumn (Bhadra–Ashwin)

After the rainy season came autumn. The sky became clear, and white clouds floated like cotton. Kash flowers bloomed in the fields, spreading white beauty everywhere.

Autumn is known as the season of festivals. Durga Puja is celebrated during this time. The weather remains calm and comfortable. Rahim loved running through the Kash flower fields.

🍂 Late Autumn (Kartik–Agrahayan)

Next came late autumn. During this time, rice crops ripened and turned golden. Farmers became busy harvesting rice. The smell of fresh paddy spread across the fields, and people prepared traditional rice cakes using newly harvested rice.

The weather slowly started becoming cooler. Late autumn is known as the harvest season. Rahim helped farmers harvest rice and loved eating freshly cooked rice.

❄️ Winter (Poush–Magh)

Finally, winter arrived. The weather became very cold, and thick fog covered the surroundings in the morning. Dewdrops formed on grass and plants.

Many winter vegetables such as cauliflower, cabbage, and carrots become available during this season. People celebrate different winter festivals and wear warm clothes. Rahim enjoyed sitting near the fire with his grandfather and eating traditional rice cakes made by his mother.

🌼 Rahim's Realization

At the end of the year, Rahim realized that every season of Bangladesh has its own beauty and importance. No season brings only joy, and no season brings only hardship. All six seasons together make Bangladesh a wonderful land of nature.

Rahim told his grandfather,

"Grandfather, now I understand why Bangladesh is called the land of six seasons. Every season tells a different story."

His grandfather smiled and said,

"If you love nature, you will understand the beauty of life."
