Chapter 2 - Chapter 1

"You finally confessed?! How'd it go? What'd she say? C'mon, don't leave me hanging!"

At the bar, there sat a man. He looked to be in his late twenties. He wore a flamboyant pink jacket over his white t-shirt and slim blue jeans. He had had a curious slightly excited look on his face as he pestered the women beside him. She was wearing a neat navy blue suit that looked low-key at first glance, but if you took a closer look you would notice that this suit was a high-quality designer one. Her outfit seemed out of touch with her surroundings.

"I was rejected," She answered calmly.

"Another glass please." She said to a nearby waiter.

"That isn't the entire story. If you were just rejected then you wouldn't have invited me for drinks, you never drink!"

The woman thanked the server and took a sip of her third cocktail. Her behaviour was calm as she slowly told him what had happened.

"After I confessed she couldn't accept it. She said some insulting words to me which I would prefer not to mention. She also told me not to talk to her anymore."

"She told me that it wasn't normal. Then she outed me out to all my coworkers. I've been getting some strange looks because of that. Some unfavourable rumours of me have been spreading around too…"

"That ungrateful son of a b*tch!!! How could she do such a thing?! Let me guess, she's been warning your coworkers about sexual orientation and isolating you righteously, people like her are basically green tea b*tches. They act all nice on the outside but are totally selfish on the inside."

The man was flushed with anger upon hearing this, he knew how well his friend had treated her crush and to be met with such actions… He had the urge to find the girl and beat her up to avenge his friend. He downed his drink and ordered another one.

"Hic, don't worry Adrienne, your oppa will definitely help you get revenge. Just leave it to me, I'll get her to apologize and-"

"Don't."

The woman replied. She smiled slightly at her friend.

"It just wasn't meant to be. It's my fault for getting the wrong idea and confessing. I put her on the spot and made her feel uncomfortable. I shouldn't have fallen in love with-"

*BANG*

The man slammed his empty cup down on the table.

"Don't say that so dismissively. After all, you truly loved her, didn't you?"

Hearing those words the smile on Adrienne's face slowly disappeared.

"I did love her, but sometimes it's better not to say some things aloud. In the end, my love was quite pointless wasn't it?"

The man shook his head.

"It wasn't pointless." He said firmly. "I'm sure that one day you'll meet someone who-"

The man stopped mid-sentence. He turned his head, looking at the entrance of the bar.

"Oh, my god. He's just my type."

Adrienne looked at the man, who had easily gotten distracted and forgot that he was comforting her.

"Pfft," she rolled her eyes. "Thanks, Ayden, I feel better already."

"Ah, you're welcome. Now how do you think I should get his number? Should I seduce him?"

Adrienne: "…" I was being sarcastic.

She sighed, "I don't think his girlfriend would like that." She pointed at the woman who just entered the bar and was now making out with the guy.

Ayden: …F*ck!

Ayden ordered another two glasses of alcohol.

"Don't worry, I'll make you forget all your problems by drinking with you the rest of the night!"

Adrienne looked at Ayden's ugly expression and inwardly thought to herself whether they were drinking to comfort herself, or him. But she then remembered what she had experienced this week. She picked up one of the two drinks.

"To a better future." She cheered.

"To our failed loves." Ayden cheered back.

"UnhAnd, mE riGHt now you kiDNapPeR. I cAn sTill DrInK moRe… MORE!!! I'm StiLL sObEr! I-i-I-i… I fEeL SiCk…"

Adrienne's face darkened seeing Ayden throw up at the side of the road. She contemplated whether she should just leave him on the side of the road and go back home alone, but her conscience convinced her not to. She pulled his arm over her shoulder in a half-hug posture and dragged him towards the wall.

"I'll BEat tHeM ALL up fOR yOU! DOn't unDerEStiMatE mY fiGhTiNg sKilLs, I knOW kuNg Fu! I-I BLEURG!!"

Adrienne felt her heart soften for a second after hearing Ayden's words but the feeling quickly disappeared after watching him throw up on her shoe. She threw him against the wall.

'Calm down,' she thought to herself. 'Murder is illegal.'

She knew very well that she shouldn't kill her best friend but looking at her vomit-covered shoe and her drunk friend who was now currently hugging a telephone phone while sobbing, the urge to do so wouldn't go away. Her eyebrow twitched as she could feel the onset of a headache coming.

She reached out and grabbed Ayden's arm to drag him to his feet, but the very next second she saw a bright flashing light hit the telephone pole. She could feel her body becoming paralyzed by the electric current.

'A lightning strike on a clear night like this one?' she thought confusedly as her body went limp. "What kind of luck is this?!"
