Chapter 17 - Legends of gods

Sunny leaned deeper into the couch, the quiet ticking of the wall clock filling the room as he turned the next page of Legends of the Gods. The more he read, the stranger the story felt. It didn't sound like the usual myths that exaggerated gods and monsters for entertainment. Instead, it felt strangely structured, almost like someone had written it as a record of real events.

He rubbed his chin thoughtfully and continued reading.

According to the book, the creatures that lived on Zeus's original planet were not ordinary monsters. They were ancient beings, many of them older than mountains and oceans. Some controlled storms, others ruled forests, and some lived deep beneath the oceans where sunlight never reached.

But despite their terrifying strength, the creatures respected Zeus.

It was not only because he healed them, but because they sensed something unusual within him. Zeus possessed a core of life energy unlike anything the creatures had ever seen. Whenever he absorbed the Life Shards they offered him, that core grew brighter and stronger.

Years passed on that strange world.

Zeus wandered from one region to another, healing injured creatures and learning about the planet he had been born into. During that time, he consumed countless Life Shards, each one increasing his strength.

Eventually his power reached a level where the creatures themselves began to fear him.

Not because Zeus was cruel—he was known for his kindness—but because the energy inside him felt limitless.

It was then that Zeus decided he no longer wanted to live alone.

Using the knowledge he had gained from observing the creatures and their Life Shards, Zeus gathered enormous amounts of energy and created a being in his own image.

That being was Alia.

The book described the moment vividly.

A storm of golden light had filled the sky as Zeus formed her body. The creatures of the planet watched in amazement as a second human-like being appeared.

Alia opened her eyes for the first time beneath a sky filled with glowing clouds.

From that moment forward, Zeus was no longer alone.

Sunny paused and leaned back slightly, letting the information sink in.

"So that's how humans started…" he murmured quietly.

He turned the page again.

According to the book, Zeus and Alia lived peacefully for many years. During that time, Zeus continued to grow stronger while Alia adapted to her new existence.

Eventually, Alia gave birth to nine children.

Each child inherited fragments of Zeus's divine power.

Some inherited strength.

Some inherited speed.

Others inherited control over powerful elements.

Among the nine children, three quickly became the most famous.

The first was Bramwell, the eldest son.

Unlike his siblings, Bramwell rarely spoke. Even as a child, he preferred solitude. While the others played and trained, Bramwell spent most of his time studying the nature of energy, Life Shards, and the strange balance between life and death.

Many believed he was simply quiet.

But others suspected his mind worked in ways that even Zeus did not fully understand.

The second and third famous children were the twins Zeay and Zeayee.

From the moment they were born, storms seemed to follow them.

When they cried as babies, thunder echoed across the skies.

As they grew older, lightning constantly danced around their bodies.

Zeay was known for his bold and aggressive personality. He loved challenges and was always eager to prove his strength.

Zeayee, on the other hand, was calmer and more strategic. He preferred planning and observation rather than reckless battles.

But when the twins fought together, their powers became terrifying.

Their lightning would merge into massive storms capable of tearing apart entire landscapes.

Sunny's eyes widened slightly as he read further.

According to the story, the twins once challenged Zeus himself to a sparring match.

It had started as a friendly test of strength.

But as the battle escalated, the sky darkened and thunder roared across the heavens.

Lightning bolts struck the ground with explosive force while Zeus countered them with waves of divine energy.

The battle lasted for hours.

In the end, Zeus defeated them.

But he did not walk away unharmed.

For the first time in his existence, Zeus had been seriously weakened by a fight.

The twins had proven that his children had grown incredibly powerful.

Sunny slowly turned another page.

The story continued by describing how Zeus eventually decided to expand beyond the planet where he had been born.

Using his immense power, he opened paths across space and discovered other worlds.

Some of these worlds were empty.

Others were filled with strange creatures.

To give his children purpose, Zeus decided to assign each of them a world to govern.

He divided nine planets among them.

Each child would rule over one planet and guide its development.

The planets listed in the book were:

Earth

Mars

Neptune

Saturn

Uranus

Mercury

Krypton

Pluto

Kronon

Sunny frowned slightly when he saw the list.

"Krypton?" he muttered.

It sounded familiar, but he couldn't remember where he had heard it before.

He shook his head and continued reading.

For many years, the children ruled their assigned planets peacefully.

Some focused on building civilizations.

Others simply watched over their worlds.

But Bramwell remained different from the rest.

While his siblings ruled their planets openly, Bramwell spent most of his time researching the nature of power itself.

He studied Life Shards.

He studied the energy inside living beings.

And eventually, he discovered something extraordinary.

He discovered that power could be structured into a system.

Sunny leaned forward slightly.

The word system immediately caught his attention.

According to the book, Bramwell believed that if energy was organized correctly, even ordinary beings could gradually grow stronger.

Instead of relying purely on natural talent or divine bloodlines, power could be distributed in stages.

Before Bramwell could fully complete his research, however, tragedy struck Zeus's family.

Over the centuries, time began to affect Alia.

Although she had been created by Zeus, she was not completely immortal.

Slowly, she began to weaken.

Zeus had been busy guiding worlds and watching over his children. At first he did not notice the signs of her decline.

By the time he realized what was happening…

It was already too late.

Alia had grown too old.

And eventually, she passed away.

Sunny stopped reading for a moment.

The room felt strangely quiet.

Even though the story described gods and cosmic beings, the sadness in that moment felt very human.

The book explained that Zeus was devastated by Alia's death.

Despite all his power, he had been unable to save her.

That realization filled him with anger and regret.

In response, Zeus decided to create something that might prevent such losses in the future.

He created the first power system.

This system allowed humans to grow stronger by absorbing Life Shards and evolving their bodies.

Inspired by their father's creation, Zeus's children began creating their own systems as well.

Each god attempted to build a structure that could guide the development of life on their planets.

However, not all of the systems worked.

Over time, many collapsed.

Civilizations using them destroyed themselves.

Eventually, seven of the systems disappeared entirely.

Only two remained stable.

The system created by Zeus.

And the system created by Bramwell.

Zeus's system focused on two powerful bloodlines.

The Vampire System and the Werewolf System.

These bloodlines granted humans incredible strength, speed, and longevity, but they also carried dangerous instincts.

Meanwhile, Bramwell developed something completely different.

He created the Realm of Sorcery and the Realm of Sanctuary.

These systems allowed humans to cultivate power gradually, using energy, training, and Soul Shards to strengthen themselves.

Eventually, Zeus and Bramwell combined their systems together and connected several planets through a shared network of power.

That was how the modern system of the world had begun.

Sunny slowly closed the book.

He sat silently for a moment, staring at the cover.

"That's… insane," he whispered.

If even a fraction of that story was true, it meant the powers appearing across the world had origins far older than anyone imagined.

He placed the book on the table beside him.

Then he stretched his arms slightly.

"Well… no point just sitting around."

Sunny focused his mind.

It had been a week since his last fight, and during that time his power had slowly recovered.

Now he wanted to test something.

He closed his eyes and activated his ability.

"Summon… shapeshifting tattoo."

A strange warmth spread across his arm.

Dark patterns began appearing across his skin, forming the familiar tattoo that moved like living ink.

But the moment the tattoo fully appeared, Sunny noticed something strange.

The patterns had changed.

They were more complex than before, with new lines branching out across his arm like veins of energy.

Sunny stared at it in surprise.

"This… wasn't here before."

The tattoo pulsed softly, releasing a faint wave of energy.

Sunny clenched his fist slowly.

The tattoo reacted instantly.

Its shape shifted slightly, as if responding to his thoughts.

Sunny's eyes widened.

"There's definitely a big difference."

Whatever had happened during the past week…

His tattoo had evolved.
