The night stretched silently over the sea. The ship moved slowly forward, cutting through the dark surface of the water as the cold wind swept across the deck.
Thomas leaned against the railing.
His arms rested on the metal as he watched the black horizon. The sky was clear and filled with stars that reflected faintly on the surface of the waves.
The night air gently stirred his white hair. The constant sound of water striking the hull was the only thing breaking the silence.
"I've been looking for you everywhere."
The voice came from behind him. Thomas didn't need to turn to know who it was. Ashley stopped beside him.
"What are you doing out here?" she asked.
Thomas exhaled slowly as he looked at the sea.
"I just needed to think for a while."
Ashley rested her elbows on the railing beside him and looked out at the sea. The wind also moved her dark hair.
"Are you thinking about what Angel said?" she asked. "About destroying Ark?"
Thomas shook his head slightly.
