It was a girl.
She appeared close to his age .. perhaps slightly younger.
What distinguished her most was the iconic symbol of witches:
A pointed hat.

Ethan realized he had just bumped into her hard enough to knock her to the ground.

But unlike the eyes…
She lacked the other trait.
"Black hair…" Ethan murmured unconsciously.
That was a grave mistake.

From nowhere, the girl began to chant.
Ethan's confusion lasted only a heartbeat.
