Chapter 21 – Serious
The atmosphere of the God's Tournament had changed.
It was no longer excitement.
It was fear.
After watching Nameless eliminate Immortal Icarus with a single strike, every immortal present understood something terrifying—
They were not on his level.
Not even close.
They were immortals.
He was also an immortal.
Yet his power surpassed Celestial Gods.
That was what broke their confidence.
"If we stay immortals, we can't even touch him."
"We must ascend first."
One conclusion spread among them—
Only by becoming gods could they even survive a hit from Nameless.
Behind every immortal stood a master.
A god.
Because only a god could raise a mortal into godhood. That was the law of ascension.
Some immortals finally asked their masters:
"Who exactly is Nameless?"
An ancient god replied slowly,
"Nameless… is an existence only the True God fully understands."
That answer silenced them more than any threat.
Even the gods did not claim knowledge of his origin.
---
Meanwhile, Nameless stood in the arena, completely relaxed.
"I have no intention of becoming a Celestial God," he said openly.
Shock rippled across the divine spectators.
To become a Celestial God, one must defeat multiple high-tier gods in succession. Even for Nameless, that would require effort.
He continued casually:
"I'll just become a God. That's enough."
The arrogance wasn't hidden.
It was declared.
Several gods clenched their fists.
Then—
The sky shifted.
A presence descended.
All gods, immortals, even demon gods knelt instantly.
All except one.
Shiva
Shiva stood calmly above the arena.
Nameless did not kneel.
Not out of pride.
But because devotion did not require posture.
Shiva spoke:
"Nameless. You will not ascend directly."
The arena froze.
Nameless narrowed his eyes.
"Why?"
"You are already strong enough to rival me," Shiva said calmly. "Allowing you direct ascension is unfair to the others."
"Innocent others?" Nameless repeated slowly.
He glanced toward the God of Destruction — smiling eagerly.
Then toward the God of Chaos — known for killing mortals for amusement.
He looked back at Shiva.
"Innocent. Right."
Shiva did not react.
Nameless sighed.
"Fine. Restrictions? Say them."
"You will not use weapons."
"No problem."
"You will not use your full power."
"Still fine."
Shiva continued.
"You must guide an immortal. Raise them into godhood. Only then will you ascend."
Silence.
Nameless blinked once.
"…You're serious."
"Yes."
"Why would I raise someone else just to become a god myself?"
Shiva's eyes remained steady.
"Because your direct ascension would destabilize the balance."
Now Nameless understood.
He carried mixed blood — fragments of ancient races, forgotten beings, divine and demonic traces. If he ascended directly, every bloodline inside him would awaken with godhood.
Each fragment.
Each race.
Each dormant power.
All evolving at once.
That would not double his strength.
It would multiply it exponentially.
The world might not contain him.
Shiva continued,
"If you ascend indirectly — by helping another immortal become a god — the divinity you receive will be stabilized. Controlled."
Indirect godhood.
A limiter disguised as fairness.
Nameless smirked.
"So you're afraid I'll grow too strong."
Shiva did not deny it.
"If your power exceeds this world's tolerance, you will not remain anchored to it."
That sentence mattered.
If he became too strong—
He might not be able to travel between worlds.
He might lose the chance to reclaim his missing soul fragment.
Nameless exhaled slowly.
So this was not a restriction.
It was preparation.
"Fine," he said at last.
"I'll play teacher."
Shiva's voice softened slightly.
"For once, fight seriously for someone other than yourself."
Nameless turned toward the hundreds of immortals below.
All watching.
All trembling.
All ambitious.
He spoke loudly enough for every realm to hear:
"I will choose one of you."
The arena fell completely silent.
"That person will either become a god… or die trying."
This was no longer just a tournament.
It had become a selection.
And for the first time since arriving—
Nameless looked truly serious.
