Rivina stopped as well, turning to face her. She stared at Evangeline with an unshakeable, piercing gaze, and for the second time, the exact same question was laid bare between them.
"Okay, what he meant to you?! Are you in love with him?"
And for the second time, Evangeline found herself entirely speechless. Was the bond they shared deep enough to be called 'love'? Or was it merely a desperate, psychological attachment to the one person who had saved her from the dark, time and time again?
She swallowed hard, her throat tight. "I... I don't know."
