Silver didn't even flinch. Even with her fingers digging viciously into his collar and her murderous gaze mere inches from his face, his lips slowly stretched into that familiar, infuriatingly wide grin beneath his mask.
"Didn't I tell you before, my Queen?" Silver cooed, his voice shifting instantly back into his eccentric, mocking lilt. "A little bird told me."
"Silver!" Evangeline hissed, her patience completely snapping as she shoved him against the wall, wanting nothing more than to wipe that smirk off his face.
He didn't offer another word. He just kept that sharp, knowing smile fixed on her, entirely unfazed by the fact that his life hung by a thread. It was infuriating, but it was exactly who he was.
Seeing that she would get nothing more out of this madman today, Evangeline let out a sharp, irritated breath and let go of his collar. She turned her back to him, smoothing down her satin gown to regain her composure.
"Fine. Go prepare yourself to depart with me."
