Upon closer inspection, the boat was just wide enough for two people to sit side by side. At the back was a small hatch, and at the center, slightly toward the front, was a thwart shaped like a wooden crate box.
[That hatch is the garbage dump. Everything placed inside will be disintegrated, except for certain materials that can be recycled for construction, such as steel or alloy. Recycled materials will be automatically transported to your warehouse. If you possess recycled construction materials, the cost of building unlocked structures will be reduced.]
So it was like a discount. Not bad!
Isla Lane tested the boat. Just like the raft, it remained stable despite the waves. Even when she leaned over the edge, the boat did not tip or sway.
She walked around and checked the crate box beneath the thwart, discovering a pair of gloves and a half-meter-long saw inside. Their appearance resembled equipment commonly seen at construction sites.
[Weightless Gloves]
[Waterproof, fireproof, destruction-proof. Allows the wearer to lift or hold objects weighing up to one ton without feeling their weight. For every additional 10 ton, one kilogram of perceived weight is added.]
[All-Rounder Saw]
[Corrosion-resistant, edge-retaining. Can cut through any material in this world, including water beasts, regardless of class.]
[The gloves and saw are included in the welcome gift package. I hope the host likes them.]
Her eyes widened. "What? Is this for real?" She quickly took them out and examined them closely.
As a hunter, one had to invest heavily in good equipment to increase survival chances in dungeons, yet finding high-quality gear was never easy. Equipment with properties like these would be extremely rare. They could only be found in S-Class dungeons.
And every piece of equipment obtained from an S-Class dungeon was priced in the billions on the hunter market.
Now, she possessed not one, but two of them, and they were free.
Nothing could beat the feeling of getting free stuff.
"Of course I like them! Free stuff is the best!" Isla Lane grinned.
Although Moonstone Province did not have towering buildings or skyscrapers that required manual demolition, it was located in a low-lying area. Debris from nearby cities drifted into it, turning the region into a massive dumping ground. Among the debris were cars and half-submerged houses.
Isla Lane put on the gloves and untied the rope securing the boat. The boat began to move. When the system said its speed was very slow, it truly meant it. The boat crawled forward at a turtle's pace. She reckoned that even her normal walking speed would be faster.
Floating debris drifted close to the boat. She grabbed the nearest object, a blue plastic drum. With a single pull, the entire 1.5-meter-long drum was lifted out of the water and into the air. She felt no weight at all. It was as if she were holding a sheet of paper.
She placed the drum near the hatch and began sawing it down to a size that would fit.
Just as the system had stated, the saw sliced through the drum like butter. It required no effort on her part. The drum was cut into three pieces before they could fit through the hatch.
When the pieces fell into the garbage hatch, they disintegrated into powder and vanished completely.
Her heart skipped a beat. She reminded herself not to be careless. Otherwise, she might end up just like that drum.
Still not satisfied, Isla Lane tested the gloves and saw again, this time on a half-submerged car. It remained afloat only because metal wires had tangled it around dead coconut trees.
When her boat drifted closer, Isla Lane pulled the car by its hood. She had not expected that, aside from the trees, there were three more cars and a small broken shed entangled beneath it.
This time, the weight was no longer completely imperceptible. Even so, pulling everything free posed no difficulty at all.
So cool! Isla Lane exclaimed inwardly. It was just like possessing a strength-enhancing ability from her previous world. If she had this gloves back then, she might be able to preserve her life.
She began cutting apart the cars, trees, and shed, disposing of the pieces into the hatch one by one.
The bodies and components of the cars had rusted after prolonged exposure to seawater. Could these still be recycled?
As if answering her question, a system notification appeared after the rusted car parts disintegrated.
[You have obtained Steel (1 kg) x3.]
She opened the warehouse tab and saw that the first grid slot was now occupied. Upon tapping it, one kilogram of steel appeared in her hand. The metal looked brand new.
Wow. This was not just recycling. It was restoration.
After admiring it for a moment, she returned the steel to the warehouse.
"What about wood? It can't be recycled?" Isla Lane asked.
[Wood holds no value. You may obtain superior wood from the shop or grow it yourself once the farm is unlocked.]
Just in case, Isla Lane did not dispose of all the wood. She set some aside to dry later.
After an hour of work, Isla Lane had cleared a thirty-meter radius around the raft. She had completed the first task and rewarded herself with a loaf of bread.
Ding.
[Mission complete. Reward: Cabin and Raft Upgrade.]
[Do you wish to upgrade?]
She tapped yes.
The system asked her to return to the small cleaning boat first, and she agreed.
Before her astonished eyes, the raft expanded by three meters on each side. The wooden cabin grew as well, reaching fifteen square meters in size. Near the mooring post, a wooden lamppost quietly appeared.
