Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Almond Tofu

While Keqing was still deep in thought about Bai Ge—

Bai Ge had already walked along the wide main roads of Liyue Harbor and returned to the large residence located in the northern part of the city.

As soon as he pushed open the front gate, a cute little girl with her hair tied into round buns came running up to him.

"Brother! Brother! You're back!"

"Brother, did you bring me snacks from Wanmin Restaurant?"

Bai Ge's younger sister, Bai Ke'er, asked eagerly, her innocent, sparkling eyes wide with anticipation.

Faced with that hopeful gaze, Bai Ge was mercilessly honest and shook his head.

"Nope. Didn't pass by Wanmin today."

That was the truth. Real Liyue Harbor, after all, wasn't like the game—where every important building was crammed into one small area.

Take Yun Jin's opera troupe and Heyu Teahouse, for example.

In the game, Heyu Teahouse was supposedly a two-story establishment, yet what you actually saw was just a staircase across from the Northland Bank.

And below it was Xinyue Kiosk.

As one of Liyue's two major dining powerhouses, Xinyue Kiosk having only four or five tables was clearly impossible.

In the real Liyue, Xinyue Kiosk and Heyu Teahouse stood close to each other—but both were multi-story behemoths occupying large plots of land.

"Eh… how could this be…"

Hearing Bai Ge's answer, Bai Ke'er's disappointment was immediately visible.

Seeing his sister's adorable expression, Bai Ge smiled and gently rubbed her head, speaking softly:

"No snacks from Wanmin, but big brother can make you almond tofu instead. Want some?"

"Yes! Hehe, thank you, big brother! Mua!"

The moment she heard that, Bai Ke'er's gloom vanished instantly. After answering, she even blew Bai Ge a flying kiss like a little grown-up.

Then she ran off.

"Sister Tiantian! Big brother's making almond tofu for me!"

The little girl's cheerful voice echoed throughout the courtyard.

"That kid… where did she learn that from…"

Watching his sister's retreating figure, Bai Ge chuckled helplessly.

If there was anything he was most satisfied with after transmigrating—

It was this life.

A sister, a house, parents busy with work, and a comfortably well-off family.

Thanks to that background, the original Bai Ge had been able to study full-time for the civil service exams. He hadn't made it into the Millelith, so he'd settled for working under Keqing instead.

In the end, though, all of that benefited Bai Ge.

Although he still felt a bit puzzled about what exactly had happened to the original owner of this body—and how that led to his transmigration…

Shaking his head, Bai Ge set those thoughts aside and headed into the kitchen to prepare almond tofu for his little sister.

Bai Ke'er was eight years old.

She was his "little sister," but with Bai Ge's mental age from his previous life, he practically treated her like a daughter—spoiling her shamelessly.

Before long, in a kitchen fully stocked with ingredients, a plate of almond tofu that looked, smelled, and tasted exquisite—on par with Wanmin's chefs—was freshly made!

The original Bai Ge knew how to cook, but only at an ordinary home-cooking level.

Now, however, his culinary skills were steadily improving.

Part of that was thanks to cooking recipes obtained through sign-ins, and part of it came from Bai Ge's own practice.

After all—when you don't work overtime, everything feels enjoyable.

Even honing your cooking skills.

A nine-to-five life gave Bai Ge plenty of time to do what he liked.

He then brought the almond tofu out to Bai Ke'er, as well as to Tiantian, who was currently watching over her.

Bai Ke'er, of course, attended school.

But in the time between her getting out of class and Bai Ge returning home, someone still needed to keep an eye on her.

Tiantian was an adventurer hired through the Adventurers' Guild.

Yes—that Tiantian, the Adventurers' Guild promoter.

Only at this point, she clearly hadn't yet become the guild's official promoter.

"Wow, Big Brother Bai, your cooking's gotten even better! Is there anything you can't do?"

Looking at the tempting almond tofu before her, Tiantian couldn't help but exclaim sincerely.

During the days she'd spent babysitting, Bai Ge had already cemented himself in her mind as an all-capable superman.

"That's right! Just look at whose brother he is!"

Hearing the praise, Bai Ke'er puffed up her chest proudly and raised her little chin.

Even though she didn't know how her brother had suddenly become so amazing, she clearly liked this version of him much more.

"Yes, yes, of course…" Tiantian laughed and went along with it.

Seeing the harmonious scene between the big and small figures, Bai Ge smiled and returned to the kitchen to prepare dinner.

What was curious, however, was that Bai Ge didn't light a fire to cook.

Instead, he held one hand in the air as Pyro and Anemo reacted and spread, while grass and wood—used as fuel—rose continuously within the stove.

His daily sign-in boosts didn't increase just one element, but raised all seven elemental affinities slightly each time.

So Bai Ge was developing in a well-rounded manner.

This kind of elemental control and application training had already become part of his everyday life.

And so—

Tea, food, exercise, reading.

Healthy living, early to bed.

Another pleasant day came to an end.

What Bai Ge didn't yet know, however—

Was that somewhere in Liyue, a certain purple cat head was already brewing something big for him.
