Watching the headless corpse sway and collapse to the ground, watching the remaining few with faces twisted stiff by absolute terror, Karin's heart was filled with an excitement she had never felt before… and joy.
Karin lifted her head. Crimson droplets speckled her face, yet she wore a smile that was both pure and grotesque, as if she were reporting to some unseen existence in the void.
"Lord Demon God… so this is what purification means…"
"I… I'm so happy."
Her laughter rang out like silver bells, sweet and clear—yet laced with a bone-chilling cold—as it rippled through the blood-soaked air.
"W-What… what just happened?!"
"Yamada!!"
"H-His head…!"
After a brief, deathly silence, the remaining Grass ninja finally snapped out of their shock.
They stared at their companion's headless body, blood still gushing forth, then at the red-haired girl standing in the pool of blood—her face splattered crimson, her lips curled into a bizarre smile. Boundless fear seized their hearts in an instant.
This was not the Karin they knew—the weak, submissive "walking blood bag" they could bully at will.
This was a… monster.
"K-Karin! Y-You… what did you do?!" another ninja shouted shakily, pointing at her as his body involuntarily retreated, eyes filled with horror.
"What did I do?" Karin tilted her head. Blood that hadn't yet dried slid down her cheek.
Yet the smile on her face only grew more adorable, forming a scalp-numbing contrast with the carnage around her.
Smack!
Karin's figure vanished like a ghost from where she stood. Almost the instant the sound rang out, another dull, explosive crack echoed!
The ninja who had just questioned her followed in the footsteps of the first.
Under Karin's casual palm strike, his head shattered like fragile pottery!
The headless body staggered, then collapsed heavily to the ground with a dull thud.
"I did this~"
Karin reappeared beside the newly fallen corpse as if she had teleported, lightly nudging the twitching body with her blood-soaked foot.
Then she looked up at the last two Grass ninja, who were already frozen in terror, her face brimming with a childlike yet cruel excitement.
"Did you see clearly?"
She smiled sweetly, baring her white teeth in stark contrast to the red splattered across her face.
"If not… I can do it again, you know~"
Her tone was as light as if she were inviting friends to play a game—but the meaning plunged the last two Grass ninja straight into icy despair. Their legs gave out, their pants instantly soaked as a pungent stench spread through the air.
Staring at the "devil" smiling in the sea of blood, their minds went completely blank. Even the instinct to flee was crushed beneath overwhelming fear.
"M-Monster!!!"
Seeing their companions torn apart as easily as paper, the last two Grass ninja finally broke.
They let out shrieks no longer human and turned, fleeing in opposite directions with every ounce of strength they had!
Village. Mission. Duty.
All of it became a sick joke in front of this blood-drenched, smiling demon.
"Is it really necessary to be this scared?" Karin tilted her head, watching their panicked retreat with an almost innocent look of confusion.
"I'm still just a kid~"
Before the words even finished leaving her mouth, her figure blurred again.
Pshhk!
Like a hot knife slicing through butter, a small blood-covered hand pierced straight through the chest of one fleeing ninja from behind—so fast the eye couldn't follow!
Karin drew her arm back slightly. In her hand was a heart, still faintly beating, warm to the touch.
She examined the bright red organ with curiosity, the sensation at her fingertips making her frown just a little.
"So your heart… wasn't black after all."
She spoke softly, a hint of disappointment in her voice. Then, as if realizing something, her gaze turned even colder.
"That's because… what you drank was my mother's blood."
With that, she casually tossed the heart aside like trash, letting it twitch weakly a few times in the pooling blood.
Karin's gaze locked onto the final fleeing ninja—and the Grass ninja who had been drawn out of nearby houses by the screams and commotion.
When they saw the hellish scene in the street—shattered bodies, blood sprayed everywhere, and the red-haired girl standing at the center, drenched in gore—they were utterly terrified.
"W-What's going on?!"
"Is that… Karin?! She—"
"Run!!"
But their cries only became death sentences.
A brighter, more radiant—yet far more terrifying—smile bloomed on Karin's face.
"Purification… has begun."
Like a crimson reaper, she surged straight into the stunned crowd.
There were no flashy ninjutsu, no complex taijutsu—only raw, brutal strength and overwhelming speed.
A palm strike—heads exploded.
A swipe of her fingers—bodies were torn apart.
Grabbing someone at random, she could swing them like straw and smash them into another person…
Screams, begging, the crunch of bones, the sound of flesh tearing apart—
All of it intertwined in an instant, turning this area into a true slaughterhouse.
The killing spread like a plague.
Anything alive that entered her field of vision became a target on her "purification" list.
Power roared through Karin's body. Bathed in splashing blood, she felt better than ever before—her earlier weakness and fear washed away completely by this intoxicating thrill of destruction.
This corner of Kusagakure was utterly swallowed by blood and terror.
It was a completely one-sided, crushing massacre.
Karin didn't even need technique.
The immense strength and unrivaled speed bestowed upon her were the most terrifying weapons of all.
Like a streak of red lightning, she darted through the narrow alleys and houses of the residential district, leaving only broken limbs and splattered blood in her wake.
Charge forward—one palm strike, and whether head or chest, it burst like an overripe melon.
A casual grab—and a human body was ripped apart by brute force, organs and bones exposed to the open air.
Most who lived here were genin, chūnin, and their families. No one could withstand even a single blow from her.
Life, before her, was as fragile as paper.
The speed of this area's "purification" was terrifying. Piercing screams, desperate pleas, and the collapse of buildings merged together, forming a symphony of death.
At last, the massive disturbance—and the bloodstench rising into the sky—caught the attention of powerful ninja and high-ranking figures in the central district of Kusagakure.
