Chapter 39 - The Truth Behind Uchiha Shisui’s Death

The masked man's voice was laced with undisguised mockery.

"Konoha… is it really that weak?"

"Was its security really so lax that a thirteen-year-old boy could carry out a clan-wide massacre inside the village—and only be discovered afterward?"

"And the Uchiha clan?"

"Were they all made of wood? Couldn't they even run?"

"As long as even one person escaped—caused chaos, cried for help, drew attention—"

"how could Itachi Uchiha alone possibly kill them all?"

"So tell me,"

"how did he do it—without the village noticing anything at all?"

These questions crashed down like a violent storm, completely shattering the worldview Sasuke had built out of hatred.

He stood frozen, his body trembling violently from fear and cognitive collapse. His Sharingan lost focus, his mind went blank.

So the "truth" he had believed in all this time…

…was riddled with absurd, irreconcilable holes.

The Shinobi World Falls Silent

The real shinobi world plunged into deathly silence.

Everyone was shaken by the masked man's step-by-step reasoning—cold, logical, impossible to refute.

Yes—thinking about it carefully, the Uchiha Clan Massacre was strange from beginning to end.

Far too strange.

One gaze after another—filled with suspicion, shock, and probing doubt—inevitably turned once more toward Konoha.

Toward the Hokage's office.

Akatsuki – Pressure Mounts

Outside the Akatsuki hideout, Orochimaru's amused, probing voice slithered into Itachi's ears like a venomous snake.

"Hehehe… Itachi Uchiha."

"So tell me—how did you do it?"

"One person. Thirteen years old. Inside Konoha."

"Erasing the entire Uchiha clan without a sound…"

"How fascinating. Truly fascinating."

Itachi Uchiha maintained his outward calm.

But his slightly quickened breathing—and the fists clenched unconsciously within his sleeves—betrayed that his heart was far less composed than he appeared.

The Hokage's Office

Tsunade's and Jiraiya's gazes pressed down on Hiruzen Sarutobi like physical weight.

There was no longer trust in their eyes.

Only heavy doubt—and something painfully complex.

Faced with the silent questioning of his own students, Hiruzen seemed to lose all his strength at once.

He slumped back into his chair, avoiding their stares, looking out the window as he let out a sigh filled with exhaustion and helpless resignation.

"I… had no choice…"

"At the time… for the sake of the village…"

"There was… no better option…"

Those near-admissions sent a chill through the room.

Tsunade's eyes turned ice-cold.

Jiraiya's face filled with pain and disappointment.

Ninja Academy

"AAAAAH—!!"

Sasuke let out a roar like a wounded beast, slamming his fist down onto the desk in front of him. Wood splintered and flew.

He was on the verge of madness.

He had finally—

Finally seen a future where he endured countless hardships and personally killed his enemy, Itachi Uchiha.

Years of hatred had found an outlet.

And now?

This masked man had casually crushed that hard-won sense of "successful revenge" with a barrage of questions Sasuke couldn't answer.

Telling him it might all be a lie.

That there were deeper truths—far darker and more twisted—he had never known.

So what exactly had he avenged?

This was worse than death.

It was enough to break him.

"What happened?!"

"What really happened?!!"

Sasuke screamed at the sky, eyes bloodshot, teetering on the edge of insanity.

On the Sky Screen

The future Sasuke forced his weakened body upright, eyes bulging with desperation as he screamed hoarsely at the calm, composed masked man:

"Tell me!!!"

"What… really happened?!!"

The masked man looked at Sasuke—on the brink of collapse, yet desperate for the truth—and knew the moment had arrived.

A glimmer of cold satisfaction flashed through the exposed Sharingan.

In a slow, deliberate voice—one that seemed to crawl up from the depths of hell—he began.

"Since you're asking so sincerely…"

"I'll tell you."

"I'll tell you the truth of that night—

the truth buried beneath history's dust…"

"The real truth of the Uchiha clan massacre."

The First Crack

"This didn't begin with Itachi's madness," the masked man said calmly.

"It began with the fear and suspicion of Konoha's leadership…"

"And with a filthy… political deal."

Those words fell like ice into boiling oil.

Konoha's leadership.

Political deal.

Every accusation instantly pointed toward the village's power center.

Across the shinobi world, hearts clenched.

Everyone knew—

The bloodiest, darkest curtain was about to be torn away.

"What does this have to do with Konoha?!"

"Tell me everything!!"

Sasuke's voice was hoarse with rage and urgency.

He felt as though he stood on the edge of an enormous truth—

one hiding a darkness he might not survive.

But he needed it.

He needed the truth.

Uchiha Shisui

The masked man continued calmly, as if stating plain facts.

"Of course it's related."

"Everything began with the suppression and exclusion imposed by Konoha's leadership."

"The Uchiha clan—one of Konoha's founding pillars—was deliberately pushed to the margins."

"Excluded from the village's power core."

"Even their residential district was relocated to the outskirts—like prisoners under surveillance."

"Under such injustice, one man tried to change things."

"A prodigy of the Uchiha."

"The wielder of the Mangekyō Sharingan."

"Uchiha Shisui."

"Shisui…?" Sasuke murmured, stunned.

He remembered him—gentle, powerful, like an older brother.

The masked man's voice turned cold, laced with bitter ridicule.

"He's dead."

"Killed by the schemes of Konoha's higher-ups."

"And one of his Mangekyō Sharingan eyes—"

"was ripped out while he was still alive."

"What…?!"

Sasuke staggered as if struck.

Shisui…

Wasn't it supposed to have been suicide?

How could this—

"With Shisui gone, the Uchiha lost their strongest deterrent," the masked man continued.

"Their situation only worsened."

"Driven into a corner, they were left with only one choice—"

"A coup."

"A desperate, all-or-nothing gamble."

The masked man painted the Uchiha not as traitors—but as victims forced to resist.

The sheer volume of information battered Sasuke's mind, leaving him reeling.

"Oh, and Itachi knew all of this," the masked man added casually.

"One wonders what he thought each time he looked at the man carrying Shisui's stolen eye."

Sasuke felt dizzy, his thoughts in chaos.

But the masked man wasn't finished.
