Chapter 13 - Gaara

After an intense yet swift discussion among the Alliance's top leadership, the command structure was finalized:

Supreme Commander:Fifth Hokage Tsunade — appointed as overall commander due to her unparalleled medical expertise, decisive leadership, and her status as representative of the initiating nation.

Deputy Commander:Fourth Raikage A — responsible for frontline command and battlefield supervision, relying on his overwhelming combat strength and authority.

Strategic Advisors:Third Tsuchikage Ōnoki and Fifth Mizukage Mei Terumī — two veteran Kage overseeing strategy formulation and rear-line coordination.

Commander of the Combat Divisions:Fifth Kazekage Gaara — his large-scale Sand Release made him uniquely suited for battlefield control and wide-area support.

Leader of the Special Response Unit:Sasuke Uchiha — the only shinobi capable of directly confronting the "World-Destroyer," Naruto Uzumaki, and the man who had once rescued the Eight-Tails' Jinchūriki from Naruto's hands. His role was to execute decapitation strikes specifically targeting Naruto.

The command arrangement appeared logical and efficient, as though everything was finally moving toward true unity.

But the scene quickly shifted—to the massive encampment where the Allied Shinobi Forces had gathered.

One hundred thousand ninja.

From different nations. Different villages.

And burdened with grudges spanning decades.

These were blood debts accumulated over countless missions—hatred carved by comrades and family members dying at one another's hands.

How could such hatred be erased by a single declaration of alliance?

At first, superficial order held. But as the density of people increased, friction became inevitable.

"What are you staring at, Sand bastard?! Your people killed my teammate on our last mission!"

"Hmph! You Cloud ninja didn't hesitate when you stole our contracts!"

"Stone scum—get lost!"

"Mist's 'Bloody Mist' executioners think they're fit to stand with us?!"

The arguments spread like a plague—escalating from shoving and shouting into mass accusations and hostile standoffs.

The entire Allied camp descended into chaos, as if the newly formed alliance might tear itself apart from within at any moment.

The hatred and distrust between them ran deeper than any external enemy.

Just as the turmoil teetered on the brink of losing control—

Thud. Thud. Thud.

Heavy footsteps echoed.

Five figures—and one solitary, black-clad silhouette—appeared atop the elevated platform.

The Five Kage, and Sasuke Uchiha.

They merely stood there, yet an invisible pressure radiated outward like a physical force.

The shouting and curses were abruptly strangled into silence.

Every shinobi—regardless of village—straightened unconsciously, eyes snapping toward the platform, toward the Kage of their respective villages.

The chaos was forcibly suppressed.

Yet the faces below still bore unmistakable wariness, division, and deeply buried hatred.

This alliance was far from truly united.

It was as fragile as thin ice—liable to shatter under the slightest pressure.

As undercurrents churned among the hundred thousand shinobi, one figure stepped forward atop the platform.

The Fifth Kazekage—Gaara.

Those emerald-green eyes no longer held the cold emptiness of the past.

"I am the Commander of the Allied Forces' combat divisions," he said.

"The Fifth Kazekage of Sunagakure—Gaara."

His voice was not loud, yet it carried a hoarse, penetrating quality that reached every shinobi below.

He did not speak of tactics or discipline.

Instead, he calmly tore open his own blood-soaked scars.

"I once… carried hatred in my heart, just like many of you."

"My father, the Fourth Kazekage, feared the monster sealed within me. He sent assassins after me again and again—just to test whether I was a suitable container. How foolish."

"My uncle told me my only purpose was to be a 'tool for killing,' tormenting me with the curse of my mother's dying words."

"Everyone in the village looked at me as a monster. They rejected me. Feared me."

"In my world, there was only myself—and endless darkness and slaughter. I lived solely to prove my existence… by killing anyone who stood against me."

He recounted his hellish childhood with eerie calm.

Yet countless shinobi below were deeply shaken.

Because in his words, they saw the scars war and hatred had carved into themselves—and into those they had lost.

"I believed I would drown in that darkness forever… until I met someone."

For the first time, a faint light flickered in Gaara's eyes.

"He was like me—bearing a tailed beast, orphaned from childhood, hated and shunned by his entire village, called a 'demon fox.'"

"He endured even greater loneliness and pain than I did… yet he never gave up."

"He shouted at me with everything he had, saying he was 'all alone,' that he understood me better than anyone—yet he would never abandon himself!"

"Because he had a village he wanted to protect. People he wanted to protect!"

"He told me… that he was the 'bond' I had finally managed to form."

"Naruto Uzumaki."

When Gaara spoke the name, it carried an indescribably complex weight for everyone listening.

"He was the one who pulled me out… of that hell where only I existed."

Gaara paused, then continued.

"Later, my father—the Fourth Kazekage—was killed. And I myself died in battle, after my tailed beast was extracted."

"It was an elder of my village—Lady Chiyo—who gave her own life, using a forbidden jutsu to bring me back."

"And it was the people of my village who, after my revival, chose to trust me… entrusting the title of Kazekage to a teenage boy who had once been seen as a monster."

His gaze swept slowly over the sea of shinobi below. His voice rose sharply, filled with unwavering conviction.

"I do not stand here because I am a flawless hero. On the contrary—I carry the deepest darkness and sin."

"But I have experienced hatred. And I have experienced redemption."

"I have known what it means to be abandoned by everyone… and what it means to be trusted, to bear responsibility."

"I understand better than anyone that clinging to past hatred only creates more monsters like the one I once was—only traps this world in an endless cycle of slaughter!"

"And now, we stand here not to settle old grudges. Not to prolong hatred!"

"We are here to protect!"

"To protect the villages we each cherish.

To protect the fragile trust we have finally built.

To protect this world—imperfect as it is, yet still worth fighting for!"
