Ema's
After Derek left the apartment, the silence felt very heavy. I walked back inside the small living room and sat down on the old couch. I pulled my legs up and wrapped my arms tightly around my knees. I tried to make myself feel small. The apartment felt too quiet and too empty without his presence. I could still feel the warmth from where he had touched me, but the rest of the room felt cold. I stared at the door for a long time, thinking about everything he had told me.
A moment later, Lia walked out of her bedroom. Her hair was a mess from sleeping, and she was wearing a baggy old T-shirt and some shorts. She stopped walking as soon as she saw me sitting there. She didn't say anything at first. She just stood there and looked at me with a very strange expression. It was the kind of look someone gives you when they think you have done something very wrong. She looked disappointed and confused all at the same time.
