Chapter 227 - Chapter 227: Can't Understand, Can't Learn

"That room on the eighth floor." Amanda looked up, her gaze fixed with certainty on Cho Chang and Marietta Eckmore Edgecombe.

"Oh, you mean that room that can change itself based on a person's thoughts?"

Cho Chang was the first to react, remembering the magical room that they had used several times.

"Yes," Amanda nodded without any change in expression. "Using that room, we can accommodate as many year levels as possible at once, and it can also meet the Defense Against the Dark Arts practice needs for all years."

"That's true, after all, that room can produce whatever we want." Marietta Eckmore agreed, but Amanda shook her head mechanically.

"According to Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration, that room should not be able to produce any food or water, nor can it make either appear out of thin air."

"I forgot about that." Marietta Eckmore realized instantly, raising a hand to lightly tap her forehead.

"Then the meeting place is settled on the Room of Requirement," Cho Chang said, giving Amanda an 'OK' gesture.

"Hermione, Hermione..."

Hermione Granger, who had been sitting quietly next to Amanda listening to her talk with the two seniors, was interrupted by a few calls. She turned around to see Harry Potter leaning over and whispering to her.

"What's wrong?" Hermione turned fully around, looking at Harry in confusion.

At the same time, Amanda, Cho Chang, and Marietta Eckmore all turned their gazes toward Harry.

"Um, since I'm the captain of the Gryffindor House Team now, the team is holding tryouts tomorrow. I just wanted to ask if you'd like to go watch?"

"Me go watch?" Hermione pointed at herself skeptically. If she remembered correctly, Harry should know she wasn't very interested in Quidditch.

"Alright..." Harry seemed to lose all his energy instantly, his whole posture slumping. "Actually, Ron is also participating in the tryouts for Keeper, but he gets nervous too easily. I'm really at my wit's end with him."

Harry shrugged as he spoke. "So I wanted to ask if you could go. I feel like you should be able to solve this problem."

After all, in Harry's view, it had been five years since they became friends, and Hermione could handle him and Ron with absolute ease.

"I see," Hermione raised an eyebrow and glanced back at Amanda. "Amanda, do you want to go?"

Amanda looked at Hermione with an indifferent expression and tilted her head. "I'm fine either way. If Hermione is going, I'll go."

"Okay," Hermione turned back and smiled at Harry. "Amanda and I will go together tomorrow."

Even if Ron got nervous then, the two of them would definitely ensure he sat on his flying broomstick and performed at his absolute best!

"The Gryffindor House Team is starting tryouts, huh," Cho Chang sighed, resting her chin on her hand. Marietta Eckmore, sitting next to her, nudged her gently with her elbow.

"What about our Ravenclaw? When do our tryouts start?"

"Ours?" Cho Chang asked back, thinking for a few seconds. "I remember the Ravenclaw Team is only missing one Beater right now."

"Are you interested?"

Tapping her fingers lightly on the table, Cho Chang looked at her significant other with a sly glint in her eyes.

"Hehe," Marietta Eckmore gave a sheepish laugh, showing no face to her girlfriend in this regard. "No!"

Merlin knew she disliked Quidditch the most. Not only did she have to fly into the sky, but she also had to watch out for those Bludgers and opposing players.

Although they said no one had died in a Quidditch match for many years, falling and breaking an arm or a leg still hurt a lot, okay!

"Pfft, just teasing you."

Seeing Marietta Eckmore's "bristling" look, Cho Chang laughed and reached out to smooth her long hair.

Sunday morning arrived as scheduled, and Amanda and Hermione sat in the stands by the Quidditch Pitch as promised.

As soon as she sat down, Amanda's gaze quickly swept over the crowd waiting for tryouts on the Quidditch Pitch, except for a few who were already members of the Gryffindor House Team.

For the other newcomers, Amanda could also make a preliminary judgment of their basic physical data and suitable positions in the Quidditch team based on a visual assessment of their height, weight, muscle groups, and physical habits when doing things subconsciously.

"It looks like Ron hasn't arrived yet." Hermione narrowed her eyes to look carefully at the crowd on the Quidditch Pitch. After confirming Ron wasn't there, she leaned back against her chair.

"My dear brother is still dawdling in the Common Room. I tried to pull him out, but he wouldn't come."

A crisp female voice came as Ginny Weasley sat down on Amanda's other side.

"Good morning, Ginny." Amanda blinked indifferently, but her attitude was extremely polite as she greeted Ginny.

"Good morning, Ginny." Hermione also turned her head and greeted her fellow housemate with a smile.

To be honest, her impression of Ginny was quite good, and she truly felt that if the now confident and generous Ginny could eventually become a couple with Harry as she wished... Hermione looked back at the Quidditch Pitch and smiled as she watched Harry directing the candidates to line up. That would be a pretty good pairing.

She believed both Harry and Ginny would be happy about it.

But speaking of which... "Ginny, aren't you going to participate in the tryouts?"

Hermione pointed to the Quidditch Pitch below. "I remember you liked Quidditch a lot."

"I did participate," Ginny pulled her long red hair back and tied it into a high ponytail. "I participated in the tryouts for Chaser, which were held yesterday."

"So what's being selected today?"

"It's Beaters and Keepers." Amanda was the first to answer Hermione's question with certainty.

"Yes," Ginny nodded in affirmation, her eyes sparkling as she looked sideways at Amanda. "Senior Lin Yue, how did you know?"

Amanda's eyes were fixed on the Quidditch Pitch as she reached out to point to the left half of the people waiting for tryouts. "Beaters have higher requirements for reaction speed and upper body strength, so those who come for the tryouts generally have stronger upper body strength."

"You can even see that..." Ginny muttered softly, her admiration for this senior who had once saved her growing even more.

"And your brothers are among them; they are undoubtedly Beaters."

Amanda shifted the topic, nodding slightly toward Fred and George standing in the crowd.

"And according to my estimation, with the two of them there, the probability of others being selected is less than fifteen percent."

"Indeed, they are excellent in that regard." Ginny puffed out her chest proudly for her brothers, and Hermione also expressed her agreement.

Amanda's gaze lingered on the Weasley Twins. Their considerable strength gave them a solid foundation, combined with their experience and a level of coordination so tacit that few could match it.

Among the candidates present, there really was no one who could compete with them.

After scanning the field, Harry began the tryouts for Beaters first, leaving the Keepers for later, which gave Ron plenty of time to reach the pitch.

It wasn't until they saw Ron enter the field that Amanda, Hermione, and Ginny hurried down from the Quidditch Pitch stands.

"I thought you weren't coming," Ginny said, looking helplessly at her brother. "There's really nothing to be nervous about, Ron. Just fly up, perform normally, and then it's all over."

She waved her hands as she spoke, making a finishing gesture.

"Easy for you to say," Ron took a deep breath, his face pale. "What if? What if I fail? I'll become a laughingstock."

Hermione frowned, stepped forward, and slapped Ron hard on the back. "Don't say such silly things, Ron. You need to have more confidence in yourself. Besides, no one is going to make you a laughingstock because of one mistake, especially a mistake during tryouts."

"People who would do such a thing don't even have the ability or the courage to participate in tryouts themselves!"

Hearing Hermione's words, Ron's expression seemed to soften a lot. Harry's feeling was quite correct; after five years together, Hermione truly was the one who knew best how to manage the mindsets of these two boys.

On this point, even Amanda had to admit defeat. After all, sometimes the rapport between friends was just that unreasonable.

Of course, if one were to ask who Hermione was most familiar with and understood best, Hermione would say it definitely had to be her Amanda.

Who else could be the person she knew and understood best if not Amanda?

Seeing the tension that still hadn't completely faded from Ron's face, Amanda quickly assessed his physical data, compared it with the data required for a Keeper, and finally compared it with the physical data of all the candidates waiting for the Keeper tryouts.

"Ron, you really don't need to be so nervous."

Amanda's sudden speech made Ron look at her.

Swallowing nervously, Ron looked at Amanda expectantly. Amanda's words were almost never wrong, so if she said he could do it, was he really going to be okay?

"By assessing the physical data of the existing candidates and yours, and then comprehensively comparing it with the physical data required for a Keeper in Quidditch."

"Ron Weasley's physical data although isn't the highest among them, every indicator is the closest to the physical data required for a Keeper in Quidditch."

"Therefore, based on the final comprehensive calculation, the probability of you being selected is greater than seventy-five percent."

"If you can adjust your state and ensure you're not as overly nervous as you are now, the probability of you being selected will rise by five to ten percent."

Slowly exhaling and cheering himself up in his mind, Ron closed his eyes and then opened them again, presenting a determined look to the three girls.

"Thank you. I feel like I really can do it!"

"That's the spirit," Ginny patted her brother's back with relief, signaling him to hurry and join the line of candidates. "Go line up."

After nodding to the three, Ron ran into the line of Keeper candidates in a few strides and stood at the end of the queue.

Harry, who was in the middle of selecting Beaters, saw this out of the corner of his eye and couldn't help but sigh in relief instinctively.

Fortunately, Ron finally overcame his nervousness and came to participate in the tryouts normally. It was really thanks to Hermione and Amanda.

The thought flashed by, and Harry soon threw himself back into the Beater tryouts. Amanda, Hermione, and Ginny also returned to the stands by the Quidditch Pitch.

"Senior Lin Yue, was everything you just said true? Or did you just say that to comfort Ron?"

As soon as they sat down, Ginny turned curiously to Amanda.

"It's all true."

"You can calculate what kind of physical qualities team members need for each position on a Quidditch team?"

Ginny looked at Amanda with quite a bit of surprise; this was the first time she had heard that Quidditch could be played like this.

If she could also learn this skill from Senior Lin Yue, wouldn't her dream of becoming a professional Quidditch player in the future be much easier?

After all, setting aside analyzing others, she could at least analyze which physical qualities she lacked and then make up for them specifically.

"Yes," Amanda nodded as if it were natural. "A Quidditch team is divided into Keepers, Chasers, Beaters, and Seekers."

"Each position requires different tasks, and the physical requirements for them are also different."

Ginny nodded repeatedly; she understood this principle.

"Sometimes, a specific physical quality isn't necessarily better the higher it is for a certain position; it might be better the lower it is. As long as it doesn't fall below an absolute red line, the lower it gets, the stronger the performance of the person in that position becomes."

Hearing this, Ginny began to frown. Having no concept of functions, it sounded a bit abstract to her, while Hermione, who had been self-studying Muggle courses, raised her eyebrows slyly.

See, she had said that the Wizarding World should keep up with the times. Without even the popularization of function education, they might not even understand Amanda's explanation.

"By analyzing a person's height, weight, muscle group size, and location distribution, one can list formulas to calculate their potential strength, speed, reaction ability, and other physical data."

Amanda continued to explain in detail. Now even Hermione had to look away; she couldn't perform such calculations.

If nothing else, she couldn't do what Amanda said about observing muscle group size and distribution; her observation skills were simply not that meticulous.

"Once these physical data calculations are complete, one can compare an individual's relevant physical data with the data required for a certain position, choosing the closest match, or conversely, judging whether the person is suitable for that position."

"Ah, ah, I understand, I understand..." Ginny slowly closed her mouth and gave Amanda a supportive round of applause.

She truly admired her; Senior Lin Yue could actually explain such complex things so clearly and calculate so many things.

But she also truly couldn't learn it. Merlin knew she stopped understanding what Senior Lin Yue was saying after the second sentence.

However, she felt that Senior Granger seemed to understand a bit more than she did. As expected of the recognized top student of Gryffindor House... She wondered if she could ask her later; perhaps her explanation would be, well, easier for her to understand.
