Darius didn't waste another moment. He turned toward the door.
"I'm going to find her."
Damon laughed as he followed him out.
"Good luck."
Darius had always been the shy one. He usually knew what he wanted to say, but when the moment came, the words often seemed to disappear. Emma had learned to recognize the look on his face whenever he needed a little encouragement.
So when Darius finally told her about his intentions, Emma decided to help him. She arranged for him to meet Iris, knowing that if she left everything to him, he might spend weeks trying to work up the courage to approach her.
When Iris finally arrived and settled in the living chamber, Emma glanced at Darius and gave him an encouraging smile.
"Go ahead."
Darius looked toward Iris, who was waiting patiently across the room, then turned back to Emma. "What do I say?"
"Anything," Emma whispered. "Just start a conversation."
