The door opened a moment later, and Brandon walked in carrying a breakfast tray.
She smiled. "You brought me breakfast?"
"I did."
He set the tray carefully across the bed before sitting beside her. She looked over the food, then back at him.
"You're spoiling me."
"I've been meaning to."
She picked up a piece of fruit and took a bite. "I could get used to this."
"You should."
They ate breakfast in bed, taking their time and talking between bites. Emma eventually leaned back against the pillows, holding her cup between both hands as she looked at him.
"Do you know what I've been thinking?"
Brandon looked at her. "That you're wondering how I managed to survive without you?"
She laughed. "No. I'm wondering why you never thought of this before."
He frowned playfully. "Thought of what?"
"Spending time alone together."
Brandon smiled. "You're right."
"I am."
"I should have thought of it sooner."
She pointed at him. "Exactly."
