The footsteps stopped outside the recovery chamber, followed by a soft knock on the door.
Before Emma could answer, the door opened, and Luna Alexandra stepped inside. Emily followed close behind, carrying a small bag filled with things they had brought from Santorini.
Emma smiled when she saw them. "You made it."
"We came as soon as we heard you and the pup were doing well," Alexandra said as she crossed the chamber.
Her eyes went straight to the bassinet beside Emma's bed.
She slowed as she approached and looked down at the sleeping pup, her expression softening.
"So this is our new little prince."
She smiled from the bed. "Come closer. You can see him properly."
Alexandra stepped beside the bassinet and leaned over to get a better look at his tiny face.
"He's beautiful," she whispered.
Emily came up behind her and peeked into the bassinet. "He's even smaller than I imagined."
Emma smiled. "That's what his father said."
