Chapter 36 - Chapter 36: Pre-exam training 2

"Alright, let's go in, Aili. You stand a bit further back later," Himeko said, carrying her greatsword as she walked over.

"Teacher Himeko, you don't need to worry about me. I'll be careful myself," Aili said with a smile, raising her bow. She was a long-range fighter, so why would she need to be so close?

"Then let's go in." Himeko finished speaking and walked directly into the doorway, her figure disappearing immediately.

Rita followed her in, with Aili bringing up the rear.

After walking through the doorway, Aili found herself in a massive ruined city.

In the distance, a colossal Chariot-class Honkai Beast was using its forelegs to smash a teetering tall building.

With another strike, the tall building directly collapsed.

Himeko and Rita had already charged towards the Honkai Beast, while Aili stood frozen, looking at the bow in her hand.

With such a massive body, was the bow she held not just for giving the Honkai Beast toothpicks? No, Chariot-class Honkai Beasts didn't have mouths, so was it for giving the Honkai Beast acupuncture?

But Himeko and Rita had already charged, so Aili couldn't do nothing.

Looking around, Aili tried to find a tall building that wouldn't obstruct her view. Although she wasn't holding a firearm, she still knew the data regarding the bow in her hand.

A Honkai energy-driven weapon, its range and destructive power far surpassed ordinary firearms.

However, after looking around, Aili couldn't find a suitable high platform, so she sighed and ran in the direction Himeko and the others had gone.

Now she could only attack from behind Himeko and the others.

By the time Aili reached the vicinity of the battlefield, Himeko and Rita were already fighting the Honkai Beast.

The two of them attacked the Honkai Beast from opposite sides.

If she got a little closer, Aili could hear Himeko and Rita's conversation.

"Senior Himeko, are you sure this is something the two of us can easily handle with basic equipment?" Rita asked, deflecting a foreleg attack aimed at her with her scythe.

"Damn it, I just told the control center to strengthen it a bit. I didn't expect it to be strengthened to this extent." Taking advantage of the Honkai Beast attacking Rita, Himeko directly slammed her greatsword onto the Honkai Beast's other foreleg.

But the Honkai Beast only staggered for a moment before regaining its balance, then straightened its upper body, attempting to crush the two Valkyries bothering it directly with its body.

"Senior Himeko, the two of us can't make a fool of ourselves in front of the junior, can we?" Rita quickly ran out of the Honkai Beast's attack range from the side, then directly jumped onto the Honkai Beast's body.

"Damn it, I don't want to either!" Himeko was different from Rita; she dodged directly from the front.

After the Honkai Beast's body crashed down, Himeko directly jumped onto the Honkai Beast's foreleg, using it as a springboard, and slammed her greatsword towards the Honkai Beast's head.

But then she was directly repelled by the hardness of the Honkai Beast's head.

Rubbing her numb hand, Himeko charged towards the Honkai Beast again.

Aili, watching the battle, sighed directly.

She had already seen the data for this Honkai Beast, and she could only say that battles with such data were relatively easy for Aili.

The strength of this Honkai Beast, according to the weapons they held, could be defeated, it was just more difficult.

Hadn't she seen Himeko and Rita already trying their best to attack the crystal on top of the Honkai Beast's head?

After finding a good angle, Aili drew a specially made arrow from the quiver on her back.

These arrows were all custom-made consumables and could not be repaired if damaged like melee weapons.

After activating the device on the arrowhead, Aili held her breath, then aimed at the spot she wanted to attack. After calculating the data within the Memory Battlefield, Aili released the bowstring.

This arrow flew directly towards the crystal on top of the Honkai Beast's head, but it didn't hit the crystal directly; it just stuck next to the crystal.

Rita saw this arrow and quickly stopped her forward movement, jumping directly off the Honkai Beast's body.

After confirming that Himeko and Rita were both out of the attack range, Aili pressed a button on her bow.

On top of the Honkai Beast's head, the arrow Aili had shot exploded.

Looking at the damage caused, one could only say, as expected of a consumable, there was no need to worry about whether a person could withstand it.

This explosion directly froze the Honkai Beast in place, and Himeko also took this opportunity to move further away from the Honkai Beast.

"Aili, well done!" Himeko let out a sigh of relief, then shouted loudly.

She then continued to stare at the Honkai Beast, because the Honkai Beast had not fallen, proving that it still had a certain degree of mobility.

Rita stood to the side, vigilantly watching the Honkai Beast, waiting for the violent smoke surrounding the Honkai Beast's head to dissipate.

Before the smoke had completely dissipated, the Honkai Beast roared. (I don't know how a Chariot-class Honkai Beast roars when it clearly has no mouth.)

The smoke instantly dispersed.

The Honkai Beast's head was also revealed.

Now, a part of that crystal had directly shattered, and next to the crystal, there was a crater caused by the explosion.

Aili directly drew another arrow and shot it towards the enraged Honkai Beast.

But this time, the Honkai Beast already knew who posed the greatest threat, and directly blocked its head with its forearm. This arrow only pierced into the Honkai Beast's foreleg.

Then the Honkai Beast intended to bypass Himeko and directly attack Aili.

But Himeko directly blocked the Honkai Beast with her greatsword held horizontally, and Rita took this opportunity to directly smash the Honkai Beast's head with the scythe in her hand.

Another small piece of the crystal shattered.

Aili was now aiming from a distance; she couldn't find a suitable moment to shoot.

Aili didn't understand Himeko and Rita's movements; if she attacked randomly, it might affect both of them.

The Honkai Beast quickly grew impatient, directly straightened its body, and then slammed down hard again.

Only this time it was a bit different; after slamming down, the Honkai Beast directly changed its posture, it was a jumping posture.

"Aili, be careful!" Seeing this posture, Himeko already knew what the Honkai Beast was going to do, and immediately shouted to warn Aili.

But Aili directly drew an arrow; with this arrow, she intended to end this battle.

As soon as the Honkai Beast jumped, Aili detonated the previous arrow.

The Honkai Beast in mid-air deformed its posture due to the explosion and fell prematurely.

Watching the head sliding towards her, Aili released the bowstring in her hand, then dodged to the side.

After the Honkai Beast slid past Aili, Aili pressed the button on the bow's body.

A series of explosions directly came from behind Aili.

After learning from the data that the Honkai Beast had been eliminated, Aili breathed a sigh of relief.

Thankfully, the arrows were quite powerful.

Watching the dissipating Honkai Beast, Himeko ran over and patted Aili's shoulder, "You've been hiding a lot, Aili. I didn't expect you to be quite capable in a fight."

"Teacher Himeko, I just know a bit about archery. In close combat, I might have died on the first strike," Aili said, shaking her head.

"Aili doesn't need to say that, because in this battle, you caused the most effective damage," Rita said, walking over with her scythe.

"It's just that the weapon was chosen well," Aili insisted.

Himeko and Rita didn't say anything more, but Aili's role in this battle was indeed greater.

If Aili had used a different weapon, they might have taken a long time to defeat this Honkai Beast.
