Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Gems (not cores)

After an unknown amount of waiting, a dark cloud drifted from the distant horizon, indicating that it would soon rain, which would conveniently extinguish the large fire at Chiba Academy. (The function of the Fourth Divine Key)

"It looks like the fire will be put out soon," Aili said, looking at the distant dark cloud, then stood up. "Let's go, let's find shelter from the rain first."

Hearing Aili's words, Theresa, who was almost asleep, instantly sobered up. "Ah, mm."

The two walked into a nearby shop and waited for the rain to put out the fire.

"Theresa, why did you wait with me?" Aili asked casually, feeling a bit bored.

"I don't know," Theresa replied immediately.

"Don't know? Why wouldn't you know? When people do something, there must always be a reason, no matter how absurd or trivial, it's still a reason."

Hearing Aili's words, Theresa thought for a moment. "Because I didn't want you to be alone."

"So, can I assume, Theresa, that you've fallen for Miss Aili? ♬ ~" (Aili really said it like that, I'm sure!)

Theresa was silent for a while again, thinking about what Aili had said. Had she fallen for Aili? Had they known each other for half a day since they met? Probably not.

Or rather, since Aili saved her, it hadn't even been a full day yet.

She saved her, and she had a special weapon on her. The information about Aili that she had previously found must have been fake. Then there was eating a meal with Aili, and after that...

Theresa slapped her face hard, trying to forget that scene, and finally, Judah's reaction.

Aili looked at Theresa's actions with some surprise. Why was this child slapping her own face for no reason? It was all red. "Little Theresa, why are you slapping your face?"

"It's nothing." Theresa's eyes darted away. So no matter what, Aili was a good person.

"Alright, but no matter what happens, don't use so much force on yourself, okay? Look, your face is all red from slapping it." As she spoke, Aili reached out and rubbed Theresa's cheek.

Because of Aili's action, Theresa's face turned even redder. Then, realizing what was happening, Theresa quickly slapped Aili's hand away, then took a step back, moving away from Aili, retracting her previous statement, Aili was a bad woman!

As the two played around, the dark clouds in the distance finally drifted over the area of Chiba Academy.

Outside, a light rain began to fall, and then the rain grew heavier and heavier.

Listening to the sound of the rain, Aili slowly calmed down. No matter when, she still liked the sound of rain, but not heavy rain.

Light rain was the best.

No, or rather, she would like any kind of weather, it just depended on her mood at the time.

Her current liking was just her current self.

Theresa's communicator received a message at this moment. After glancing at it, Theresa said to Aili, "The people from the Academy who are coming to pick us up will be here soon. Do we still need to wait here?"

"Hmm, if you can't wait, little Theresa can leave first," Aili replied. She was really concerned. If she wasn't afraid of fire, she might already be inside rummaging for things that interested her.

"Then should I tell them to wait above your house when they arrive?"

"Above my house?" Aili was a little confused. Why above her house?

"Yes, I said I would take you back to the Academy. Aren't you going to pack your things?" Theresa looked at Aili with a strange expression.

"Pack things?" Aili thought for a moment. "You can tell them to come directly here to pick us up. As for my things, only these things on me are more precious." As she spoke, Aili even picked up the bow in her hand to indicate.

"I see. Then I'll send them a message and tell them to come here." After speaking, Theresa began sending a message on her communicator.

After sending the message, Theresa continued chatting with someone on her communicator, occasionally looking up at Aili, then looking up at Aili again, making Aili quite uncomfortable.

But this situation did not last long.

Under the heavy rain, the large fire at Chiba Academy was quickly extinguished, but there might still be smoldering embers in some places, which could reignite at any time.

But that was enough.

"Alright, Theresa, I'm going over there for a bit. Just wait for me here." As she spoke, Aili intended to brave the rain and go into Chiba Academy to find something that attracted her.

"Are you just going to go like that? I'll go with you!" Theresa quickly put away her communicator and jogged to Aili's side.

"Alright, alright, you should still wait for me here. Don't forget your injury just healed not long ago, and you also fought a battle, so you should rest here. I'll be back very soon." After speaking, Aili directly rushed out.

Theresa looked at the departing figure and stomped her foot in anger, but seeing Aili's weapon still left there, she picked up Aili's weapon and waited for her there.

She didn't know why she listened to Aili, but she somehow felt that if she followed Aili, she would make Aili unhappy.

But now Theresa was a little unhappy because Aili wouldn't let her go with her. (Indeed, happiness cannot exist simultaneously.)

Theresa wasn't afraid that Aili wouldn't come back, because with Judah, Judah indicated that she had already remembered Aili's scent and could bind her here at any time!

Holding Aili's weapon, Theresa remembered seeing Aili's weapon turn into a glove on the way. How did that happen? There were clearly no mechanisms on this weapon.

Aili ran through the rain to the entrance of Chiba Academy and saw the potholes on the road. This was where she fought the pseudo-Herrscher.

Walking to where the girl had stood, Aili saw something sparkling on the ground, so she knelt down and picked up the sparkling item.

It was a gem, but this gem looked like a corner had broken off, and inside the gem, there were cracks, giving one the feeling that this gem could break at any moment.

She carefully put the broken gem into her pocket, then walked into Chiba Academy.

This broken gem had some attraction for her, but it wasn't that strong. She could feel that there was something more attractive to her inside the Academy.

Following her feeling, Aili walked to the center of the Academy, where only a fountain remained intact.

Aili could feel that what attracted her was inside this fountain.

She walked into the fountain and approached the stone sculpture in the middle of the fountain. The closer she got, the hungrier she felt, as if something was attracting her to eat it.

Walking in front of the stone sculpture, Aili saw the thing that attracted her, which was also a gem, a purple, somewhat dangerous-looking gem. This gem was embedded in the very center of the stone sculpture.

Aili looked at the gem, and as she was thinking about how to remove it, her hand already touched the gem, and then this gem directly fell from the statue. Aili quickly caught it.

It came off so... easily?

And then? What was this gem for?

From the moment she got this gem, Aili no longer felt hungry, as if getting this gem had already satisfied her.
