Chapter 63 - Chapter 63: The Root of the Problem 18+

On the morning of the third day, as my wife helped change my bandages, she looked at me with concern and asked, "Hubby, you haven't been saying much these past two days. Are you uncomfortable or unhappy?"

I didn't answer, just quietly looked at her. I was still hesitating about whether to have a serious talk with her. After all, she had been so happy these past few days, and I didn't want to ruin her good mood.

My wife sat down beside me and whispered, "Hubby, you're not jealous because of what happened that night, are you?"

"Nannan, it's not about jealousy," I said.

"Then what's wrong? If you have something to say, just say it," she urged.

"It's nothing much. I just wanted to say, could you let me know in advance if you plan to invite them over? That way, I can mentally prepare myself." After hesitating for a long time, I still avoided addressing the real issue and just brushed it off lightly.

"So that's why you've been so down?" My wife didn't seem suspicious.

"Of course. I can't move, and I can only listen to you all having fun. How could I possibly be happy?" I grumbled.

My wife burst into laughter, leaned down, and whispered in my ear, "Then let me tell you a secret. Actually, that night, Brother Liu wore a condom."

I looked at her, confused. That night, I clearly heard Liu Wei say he wouldn't wear one, and in the end, my wife even cried out, "Don't come inside!" Why would she say this now?

Covering her mouth, my wife giggled. "That night, they planned to tease you a little. As soon as I went in, the two of them kept winking at me."

"No wonder. Not long after you went in, your voices suddenly got louder," I said, finally understanding.

My wife covered her mouth, still laughing.

"So, that means your moaning was so seductive that night, and you even shouted not to come inside—was that all on purpose?" I asked.

My wife nodded, her fair cheeks flushing with a hint of embarrassment. "Not entirely," she said softly.

"What do you mean, 'not entirely'?" I glared at her.

"Well... it's just that the thought of you listening next door while I was... being so shameless was just too exciting," she said, her face turning bright red, her voice growing softer until I could barely hear her.

"Oh, so you still remembered I was next door?" I said sourly.

My wife was amused by my expression and chuckled, "Don't be sour, honey. How could I not think of you? I've already talked it over with Sister-in-law and Brother Liu. Once your injury heals, Sister-in-law and I will spend some time alone with you. Brother Liu promised he won't interfere at all, so you can have your fun to make up for it."

"Who cares," I muttered under my breath.

"Suit yourself then," she shot me a glance, packed up the first aid kit, and left the bedroom.

Watching her retreating figure, I sighed inwardly. In the end, I still hadn't managed to have a proper talk with her.

It wasn't that I lacked the courage to speak up, but she had just started to open up a bit. If I appeared too conflicted, she might revert to her old conservative ways out of consideration for me.

Besides, my wife was genuinely happy now. In the past, her focus had always been on work, and she rarely laughed and chatted as much as she did these days. I really couldn't bear to dampen her mood.

Wasn't the whole point of wife-swapping to inject some excitement into our dull lives?

And wasn't she becoming more cheerful and interesting now? How could I let my negative emotions affect her? That would be too selfish.

As for my own worries, anxieties, and unease, I had to find a way to deal with them myself. I would do everything in my power to eliminate any potential risks, ensuring my wife wouldn't lose herself or forget our original intentions.

This was my responsibility as a husband and as the one who had proposed the wife-swapping in the first place.

Over the past couple of days, I had figured out the root of the problem. The reason I felt so conflicted was because I noticed my wife had taken a liking to Liu Wei. Whenever she had a free moment, she would be glued to her phone, chatting with him nonstop. She had even invited him over without consulting me first.

This worried me—or rather, it scared me. I was afraid she wasn't just physically involved but emotionally invested as well. That was an unbearable outcome and my greatest fear.

No matter how wild things might get in the future, no matter how bitter I felt watching my wife with another man, I could endure it because it brought me a twisted sense of pleasure.

But all of this hinged on one condition: my wife's heart had to belong entirely to me. I couldn't tolerate emotional betrayal, not even a little. That would drive me insane.

Over the past two days, I had come up with a plan: temporarily stop swapping with Liu Wei and his wife.

I thought perhaps it was because we had only swapped with them so far. For my wife, this was the first time she could openly accept a man other than her husband, so it was natural for her to feel a sense of novelty and unconsciously grow attached.

Maybe after interacting with a few more couples, once this became routine, she would only seek excitement without getting emotionally involved.

So, after much thought, I decided it would be better to pause the swaps with Liu Wei and his wife for now. Instead, we could look for a new couple and try even more thrilling games, allowing my wife to indulge physically without losing herself emotionally.

Although I was reluctant to part ways with Tian Xiaomo—this woman had always given me a sense of familiarity, and being with her felt particularly comfortable—I knew I had to make a decision.

Deep down, I really wanted to maintain a long-term relationship with her. But my wife's growing attachment to Liu Wei was making me increasingly uneasy. I couldn't let this trend continue. I had to take action.

No matter when, I must never let my wife's heart drift away. This is my bottom line, and I will hold firm to it. Even the slightest sign, I will nip it in the bud immediately.

...

As the saying goes, "It takes a hundred days to mend broken bones." The two broken ribs kept me bedridden from early summer to mid-summer, and it took over forty days of rest to fully recover.

My wife took care of me at home for half a month, and once I could get up and move around on my own, she went back to work.

While taking care of me at home, perhaps out of boredom or something else, my wife would enthusiastically chat with Liu Wei on her phone almost every day, their conversations lively and engaging.

After I couldn't help but express my jealousy a few times, my wife jokingly teased me for being petty, but she did tone it down. Gradually, she chatted less with Liu Wei, and after returning to work, their conversations faded, only exchanging a few words during leisure time before stopping altogether.

However, I still felt uneasy and ultimately decided to discuss temporarily pausing the swap with Liu Wei when I returned to work, then deciding when to resume based on the situation.

The reason for a temporary pause rather than a complete halt was twofold. First, Liu Wei and his wife were genuinely good people—well-mannered, kind-hearted, always considerate of us as a couple, and aligned with my values, making them ideal swap partners.

Second, I truly couldn't bear to part with Tian Xiaomo. Once my unease subsided, I would undoubtedly request to resume the arrangement immediately.

After all, how many men wouldn't be fond of a woman like Tian Xiaomo?
