Lynn and Edgar stayed in the Lofoten Islands for a few more days.
Over the past few days, Edgar had fallen into a state of blissful frustration—he had fished so much he was about to vomit. He couldn't stop catching them; he simply couldn't keep up!
As soon as the rod was cast, there would be movement almost immediately. Various sea bass, cod, and flounder took turns getting hooked, leaving him exhausted.
The smug expression on his face was impossible to hide.
He even took the time to learn a few spells for processing the catch from local wizard fishermen, causing his efficiency to skyrocket.
In contrast, Lynn's luck… remained steadily at a "dismal" level.
Except for that forty-pound Atlantic salmon on the first day, his record for the remaining days could only be described as "pitiful."
He would either sit for half a day facing a calm sea, or the float would move—and when he pulled it up, it would be a fry not even as big as an earthworm, making him roll his eyes in frustration.
"This is called strategic catch-and-release to protect fishery resources."
Lynn threw another finger-long fish back into the sea, explaining to Edgar without a hint of embarrassment, "Besides, this thing isn't even enough to get stuck in your teeth."
Edgar, holding a large cod he had just caught, grinned so widely his eyes disappeared. "Right, right, Master Lynn is right! We're all about sustainable development! …Hey, look at this cod. Should we let Dodo make soup or grill it tonight?"
Lynn silently looked away, feeling his dignity take continuous hits…
Inside the trunk.
Lynn was processing Edgar's "spoils" of the day with Dodo.
Dodo's movements were agile, using magic to precisely fillet the fish while muttering:
"Dodo thought Master brought a friend to relax, but now it seems it was to open an aquatic processing plant. Master's friend's enthusiasm for fishing… well, it is very vigorous, but why are there no fish caught by Master…?"
Lynn smiled helplessly and turned to ask Edgar, who was currently trying to help but only getting in the way:
"By the way, I plan to head back tomorrow. How are you getting back to Britain? With me, or are you waiting for your parents to finish their business with the Ministry of Magic's Department of International Magical Cooperation here?"
Edgar was wrestling with a squid tentacle. Hearing this, he grabbed a handful of dried fish from the snack basket on the nearby table and stuffed them into his mouth, speaking indistinctly:
"Mmph… I'll call and ask Mom…"
He moved a little farther away, took out his mobile phone, and dialed his mother Anna's number.
Beep… beep… beep…
Lynn continued processing the fish with Dodo. He wasn't intentionally eavesdropping, but Edgar's loud voice drifted over intermittently.
"Hello, Mom! It's me, Edgar! …Yeah, we're having a great time in Norway. Lynn? Oh, him—same as always. Except for that stroke of luck on the first day… I mean, except for showing his skill by catching a big one on the first day, he's been 'protecting fishery resources' the rest of the time… Hahaha!"
The knife in Lynn's hand paused for a moment.
"So, Mom, when am I coming back? With you guys or—what?! You and Dad are going to Iceland to see the Northern Lights? And 'incidentally' inspect the magical creature protection situation there? …No, I am your biological son, right? Isn't this 'incidentally' a bit too incidental?"
"…Fine… I get it… Yeah, I'll tell Lynn… Hope you and Dad have fun… Remember to bring me a souvenir!"
The call ended.
Edgar turned around, a smile that was a bit too bright instantly plastered on his face. He strode back and patted Lynn on the shoulder.
"Hey! I just asked. My parents have some 'urgent business' to handle and won't be back for a while. I thought you'd be lonely heading back alone, so how's this for loyalty? I'll accompany you back!"
Dodo stopped working and looked at Edgar very "sincerely."
"Edgar, Dodo has sharp ears. It sounded like your mother said they were going to Iceland to see the Northern Lights?"
"Are you sure it isn't that the esteemed Mr. and Mrs. Burns want some time alone and have specifically… well, 'checked' you in with our Master?"
The smile on Edgar's face froze instantly—and at that moment, it transferred perfectly to Lynn's face…
The next day, the two packed their bags, not intending to rush back via the Floo Network checkpoint.
They decided to experience a relatively leisurely way of international travel—taking the North Sea ferry operated by wizards back to Britain.
Actually, it was mainly Edgar who wanted to try it. Lynn had already experienced it before, and his impression was "not bad."
As soon as they arrived at the pier—cleverly hidden by Illusion Charms and Muggle-Repelling Charms—the clamor of voices and the salty scent of the sea breeze hit them.
While they were looking for the boarding gate, the excited conversation of several nearby wizards caught Lynn's attention.
"…I heard the Valentine Troupe has an extra performance at the port tonight!"
"The boat schedule might be tight, but it's worth a try! Their performances are never repeated!"
"My daughter still can't stop thinking about that 'Mooncalf' ballet from last time…"
"I wonder what magical creatures they'll bring this time? I heard they can even make Puffskeins perform acrobatics!"
A magical creature stage play?
Lynn's ears immediately perked up.
Using magic combined with magical creatures for a stage performance? That sounded far more interesting than an ordinary play or a circus.
He pretended to casually approach the chatting wizards and heard one of them lower his voice and say mysteriously:
"Inside information—I have a nephew who runs errands for the troupe. He said there might be a 'big fellow' participating in the performance this time, but as for what it is, the troupe is keeping it very quiet. It won't be announced until the show starts."
Now Lynn's interest was completely piqued.
He returned to Edgar, who was staring blankly at the route map, and nudged him.
"Hey, don't be in a hurry to get on the boat back to Britain tonight. I heard there's a very impressive magical creature stage play. Want to go see it together?"
Edgar looked up from the route map, his eyes lighting up.
"A stage play? Are there fight scenes? Or is it singing and dancing?"
"We'll know when we get there, won't we? It's still early anyway, so let's just call it… broadening our horizons."
At night, in Bergen Harbor, a massive structure floated above the water—that was the mobile stage of the Valentine Troupe.
It wasn't a traditional ship, but more like a giant circular arena. The edges were adorned with flickering runes, and the overall style carried a certain mechanical aesthetic.
Lynn and Edgar paid two Galleons for their tickets and boarded a small boat decorated with colorful flags.
The boat moved automatically without oars, heading toward that aquatic marvel.
"This is quite the spectacle!" Edgar leaned over the gunwale, his eyes shining.
Upon boarding the stage, the interior space was even more expansive than it appeared from the outside, clearly utilizing the Undetectable Extension Charm.
Tiered seating surrounded the central circular performance area, which was already half-filled with spectators. The buzzing conversation was full of anticipation, resembling the atmosphere of a Roman Colosseum.
The pair's gaze was drawn to something right in the center of the performance area.
It was a massive hemispherical protective shield, tightly covering the stage. It was entirely black, completely obscuring everything inside, making it impossible to even guess at the silhouette of what lay within.
"They've covered it up really well; you can't see a thing," Edgar said.
"Good things come to those who wait." Lynn examined the black cover with interest. "Besides, spoilers are no fun. The troupe is using suspense to whet the audience's appetite."
They found their seats and sat down.
Edgar had already pulled out a bag of Fizzing Whizbees from his pouch, ready to snack while watching.
Lynn adjusted his posture, prepared to enjoy this "special effects blockbuster" of the magical world.
Just as the seats were nearly full and the whispering reached its peak, all the magical light orbs illuminating the stage suddenly went out!
The crowd let out a low gasp of surprise.
Immediately after, a spotlight snapped on, illuminating the open space in front of the black protective shield. Within the beam of light, countless gold and silver magical dust particles swirled and drifted downward.
A wizard wearing a scarlet velvet suit, a top hat, and sporting two meticulously groomed small mustaches appeared in the spotlight.
"Ladies! Gentlemen! Members of the magical world! Good evening—!!!"
