Chapter 21 - Chapter 21

"What astonishing progress! Five points to Hufflepuff each!"

Such praise was not only heard in Professor McGonagall's Transfiguration Class but also in Professor Flitwick's Charms Class.

In Charms Class, Professor Flitwick stood on his stack of books, his voice filled with surprise and curiosity:

"So, Mr. Burns, Mr. Smith, and Mr. Thorne, how did the three of you manage to improve the stability and precise control of the Levitation Charm to such a remarkable degree in such a short time?"

Why three people? Because Lynn was a "cheat," always outstanding.

"Um, Professor..." Edgar stood up, his cheeks slightly flushed, feeling a bit absurd as he gave the reason. "Because... we went farming on the weekend."

"Farm... farming?"

Professor Flitwick adjusted his glasses, highly suspecting his ears had been affected by some strange spell.

"Yes, Professor." William took over, using his usual clear and organized language to briefly report on their "extracurricular practice" last Sunday: how they used Transfiguration to create tools and then the Levitation Charm to control them for tilling the land.

"Oh~ hahahaha!"

Professor Flitwick burst into cheerful laughter upon hearing this, his small body trembling atop the stack of books.

"Merlin! What a novel and intelligent practice method! Combining spell learning with practical labor, it not only exercises magic control but also brings the joy of labor! Very creative! I express... hmm, considerable approval for this!"

After class, several Ravenclaw students known for their studiousness approached William, their faces showing a mix of belief and doubt.

"William, your Levitation Charm progress... was it really achieved by farming?"

They clearly found this explanation too "down-to-earth," somewhat out of place with Ravenclaw's reverence for "knowledge."

"Of course."

Before William could answer, Lynn interjected, a "sincere" smile on his face.

"Practice is the sole criterion for testing truth. If you don't believe me, you can totally go to our vegetable patch and try it out yourselves; the results are immediate!"

Seeing the interested expressions on the Ravenclaws' faces, Lynn struck while the iron was hot, enthusiastically inviting them:

"No time like the present! No matter how rich your theoretical knowledge, nothing beats trying it firsthand! How about this afternoon? We happen to be doing the next step of loosening the soil before sowing, and the site and tools are all ready!"

The Ravenclaws looked at each other, half-believing, half-doubting, but ultimately couldn't resist their curiosity about "efficient learning," so they nodded.

Watching Lynn happily lead several "new laborers" toward the vegetable patch, Edgar nudged William with his elbow and whispered, complaining:

"He's really 'naughty'; he tricked a few more free laborers with just a few words."

Ollie remained silent beside him, only nodding, his eyes expressing the same sentiment.

"Look at the corners of his mouth; they're almost reaching his ears. He's probably feeling pretty smug inside." William pushed up his glasses, delivering a precise jab.

If Lynn heard their discussion, he would certainly retort righteously:

"How can this be called 'naughty'? This is mutual benefit and win-win! They get valuable practical opportunities and improve their spell skills; we improve our reclamation efficiency and speed up the process of eating strawberries! Both parties are willing; it's a fair trade!"

...After "guiding" the Ravenclaw students in the field, contentedly watching them skillfully control farming tools with the Levitation Charm, and having them all declare that it "indeed helps with subtle magic control," Lynn hummed a tune and returned to his dormitory.

"Ravenclaw students are truly diligent and efficient in their studies!"

As soon as Lynn returned to the dormitory, he began to boast, his face beaming with the joy of "harvest."

"What? The trickery—oh no, the 'invitation'—went smoothly?"

William looked up from his book, his tone teasing.

"It couldn't have gone smoother!"

Lynn snapped his fingers proudly.

"They work much faster than you guys did at first; they understand immediately, their movements are standard, and their efficiency is extremely high!

The soil has already been loosened a second time; all that's left is to plant the strawberry seedlings!

I've already sent an owl to Hogsmeade to buy high-quality strawberry seedlings!"

"Black-hearted capitalist."

Ollie, who had been silent, finally stopped merely nodding and gave a concise evaluation.

"Same to you." Lynn didn't mind at all, responding with a grin.

A few words won't hurt, and anyway, someone else is doing the work, so strawberries are just around the corner!

Lynn, in high spirits, lay down on his bed, ready to drift off to sleep, a smile still on his lips.

However, he had barely closed his eyes before he suddenly sat up!

He had almost forgotten about the mysterious pet egg rewarded by the system!

He immediately rolled out of bed, walked to the table, and took out the egg from his system space—an egg about the size of an ostrich egg, with a magnificent golden shell and some red flame patterns on it.

Lynn held the egg in his hands, looking at it from all angles, but couldn't tell what kind of magical creature's egg it was.

A Phoenix? A Fire Salamander? Or some other magical creature he didn't know?

Fortunately, the system was quite thoughtful and included a thin "breeding manual."

Lynn eagerly opened it, only to see a few sparse lines of text:

[Breeding Instructions]

Environment: Keep comfortably warm; avoid extreme cold and dampness.

Diet: No feeding required before hatching. After hatching, provide clean drinking water and fresh food.

If conditions permit, a small amount of General-Purpose Magic Nutrient Solution can be fed to aid the growth of the hatchling.

Note: Patience is a virtue.

Lynn's mouth twitched as he looked at the extremely brief, even perfunctory manual. "That's it? And they call it a manual... what's the difference from having none at all!"

Just then, Edgar also returned to the dormitory and immediately spotted the conspicuous golden-red giant egg on Lynn's table.

"Wow! Lynn, what kind of animal's egg is this? The colors are so beautiful!"

Edgar curiously leaned over, wanting to touch it.

"I'm not sure; I found it near the Forbidden Forest. It looked pretty special, so I thought I'd try to raise it and see if it hatches."

Lynn lied without changing his expression, moving the egg closer to himself.

He had already started planning in his mind to check the library tomorrow for information to see if he could get the recipe for that "General-Purpose Magic Nutrient Solution" and brew some himself.

"Sigh, I'm truly a responsible and good owner, already worrying about its diet before it's even hatched..."

Lynn sighed dramatically, as if he could already see a fluffy—or perhaps smooth?—little creature breaking out of its shell.

Wuwuwu, Lynn was almost moved to tears by his own foresightful "fatherly love."
