Chapter 110 - Smell

Before Tossak-Rome could react, eight specially made Bolter rounds, carrying immense kinetic energy, whistled through the air from a distance, heading straight for his face.

"Clang, clang, clang!" Amidst several rapid, teeth-grinding metallic collision sounds, the Bolter rounds were all, without exception, engulfed by a hard barrier covered in blue lightning. They hovered in the air, their terrifying kinetic energy even causing cracks in the surrounding ground. Even so, they couldn't get any closer, unable to cross a four-meter range from their target.

"Boom!"

The next second, the internal mechanisms of these bullets triggered a secondary explosion. Rampant orange flames engulfed the barrier, and the bursting shockwave sent debris and dust flying.

As the smoke cleared, Kenmyo Isayama and Tossak-Rome were revealed. Kenmei was unharmed, enveloped by the blue psychic barrier, while Tossak-Rome, having his spell interrupted, knelt on the ground, unconscious.

Kenmyo Isayama released his hand from Tossak-Rome's head, and the unconscious former Inquisitor collapsed to the ground. Of course, Kenmei didn't forget to put a psychic shield on the man, as it was clear these sudden interlopers were targeting Tossak-Rome.

Kenmyo Isayama turned his head to face the uninvited guests, his voice cold.

"Since when did your Battle Sisters have the audacity to interfere in the internal affairs of our Inquisition?"

These women shouldn't think that just because they changed into unmarked, unknown power armor, Kenmyo Isayama wouldn't recognize them.

Macarnus-Elfman, having spent a long time with Elena, had become very familiar with the aura of the Battle Sisters, who were known as "the Emperor's Daughters."

There were no crazier women in the entire The Galaxy / Milky Way than these. So, the moment they appeared, Kenmyo Isayama immediately sensed it—the scent of Battle Sisters.

The Inquisition had dominion over the Orders Militant of the Sisterhood, but now these "dogs" raised by the Inquisition dared to bare their fangs at their master. This was clearly a death wish.

The opposing force appeared to be a complete Battle Sister squad, with four individuals present. Did that mean there was still one person hiding in the shadows?

Battle Sister squads are structured similarly to Space Marine squads, a five-person assault team capable of efficiently executing decapitation strikes, assaults, and intelligence gathering missions.

"Inquisitor, we have no intention of being your enemy."

The leading Battle Sister motioned for her subordinate to lower her weapon, and she spoke methodically.

"The man beside you, by extremely vile means, defiled and murdered Lady Kennath Olega Karamath, a Senior Sister of the Order of Our Martyred Lady."

"Therefore, the upper echelons of the Ecclesiarchy secretly dispatched our Silver Saint Rose squad to execute this villain."

Especially in that last sentence, Kenmyo Isayama detected a hint of warning in the tone of the Battle Sister, whose eyes were tightly bandaged.

"We were also on the Adelie Hive World at the time, and your act of setting fire to the entire lowest level of the Hive World was quite bold."

Such large-scale massacres did indeed have some impact on an Inquisitor, making it easy for colleagues to target them and find leverage.

But to try and blackmail Kenmyo Isayama with it would only make him laugh.

"What's so funny?"

"I'm laughing at your foolishness."

The Battle Sister squad leader was about to say something more, but when she saw what this unfamiliar Inquisitor did next, she was immediately astonished.

Have you ever seen someone speaking amiably one second, only to pull out a gun the next?

If Kenmyo Isayama knew, he would simply say you were ill-informed.

He had seen someone say to another, "Long time no see, I remember you, good friend Ice Room," only to then stab them several times, saying, "Deep breaths, dizziness is normal."

That was truly terrifying.

Kenmyo Isayama's actions of drawing, aiming, and firing were all compressed into less than half a second, executed in one fluid motion, too fast to react.

It wasn't until two booming roars, far louder than their special Battle Sister Bolters, echoed in the empty space, that she realized the Inquisitor in front of her had actually fired?

The Battle Sister squad leader abruptly looked to her side, and the Battle Sister next to her did the same. They exchanged glances; neither had any wounds.

The outcome was then obvious: only the last person, far away, preparing to provide fire support, remained. They spoke into their comms.

"Lacy, Lacy."

But there was no answer; the comms were dead silent.

"Stop calling, she's probably dead."

Kenmyo Isayama was very confident in this body's marksmanship; he could even use a large-caliber hand cannon like a sniper rifle.

He had only caught a glimpse of a reflection accidentally flashing 800 meters away. Without a moment's hesitation, he immediately picked up his Bolter and fired rapid bursts.

Kenmyo Isayama's judgment was accurate, and because it was a sneak attack, the opponent didn't even have time to dodge.

The scene caused by those almost instantaneous two bullets in the distance was truly horrific.

A nameless corpse, two-thirds of its upper body gone, lay in a pool of blood, wearing the same style of power armor as the Battle Sisters in front of Kenmyo Isayama.

Scarlet splatter covered the ground, mostly spraying backward. The first shot was a headshot, the skull blown open, and the second hit the upper body, also exploding into an unrecognizable bloody mess. The bullets that passed through the body left two fist-sized craters in the ground.

"I even kill Battle Sisters."

"Fire!"

The Battle Sister squad leader was the first to raise her gun and fire at Kenmyo Isayama. The other three also fired at the Inquisitor in front of them.

"Now you know, when you try to pressure me by revealing 'indiscriminate massacres' to the Inquisition, do you think I care?"

Kenmyo Isayama ignored the furious women spraying him with Bolter fire. Instead, he slowly took a magazine from his pocket to reload his weapon; those were the last bullets in the previous magazine.

So, Kenmyo Isayama had emptied his magazine at the Battle Sisters. He shook his head.

Such thoughts are truly depraved.

"Clang, clang, clang."

Gunfire snakes continued, and red casings clattered to the ground.

Now, at least a hundred rounds of ammunition were densely arrayed in front of Kenmyo Isayama, but the psychic barrier remained as steady as a mountain, showing no sign of movement.

"Alas, from the moment you first fired at me, it was already irreversible."

Kenmyo Isayama had originally intended to label them as heretics before dealing with them, but then realized it might not be necessary.

He took his Chainsword from his back and scratched his head in annoyance.

"The scent of Slaanesh on you is too strong, can you tone it down?"
