Chapter 74 - Stone

"Killing Stone?"

Fushiguro Toji's sudden utterance caused Kenmyo Isayama's blade-wielding hand to pause. Originally, he had planned to immediately use the Heavenly Restriction to shatter the scarlet, alluring stone—which resembled a drop of blood—that had appeared before Sister Mei.

It contained astonishingly pure, evil Cursed Energy that had materialized like fine sand. Without a doubt, this object was the culprit manipulating Sister Mei and turning her into this inhuman, ghost-like state, and it was also the source of her regenerative ability.

Kenmei felt that this was a Special Grade Cursed Object that, once discovered, must immediately be sealed, its effects unknown. Every time he killed Sister Mei, the power of this object was consumed.

Since he didn't know how to deal with this strange object of unknown origin, he decided to follow his initial plan: shatter it and release Sister Mei's soul from this husk.

When Kenmyo Isayama heard Fushiguro Toji's words, and realized the older man had recognized its origin, he stopped his attack, turned his gaze toward Fushiguro Toji, and asked,

"What is that thing? Explain clearly."

If he could understand the origin of this item, Kenmyo Isayama might be able to struggle a bit longer and find a direction for research.

"Boss, back when I was still in the Zen'in Family, I coincidentally saw a record of it in an ancient family text a long time ago. I never thought it actually existed."

The power of resurrection, nearly infinite Cursed Energy, and the red stone covered in blood-colored markings—it was exactly as described in the documents.

Fushiguro Toji crossed his arms, a look of surprise on his face, and slowly explained,

"Boss, are you familiar with the concept of the so-called Four Great Cursed Spirits of Nippon?"

Kenmyo Isayama shook his head decisively.

Fushiguro Toji had at least entered his family's library, but Kenmei had never set foot in such a place in the Kamo Family. His understanding of the world mainly came from books detailing the Jujutsu World left by his parents; he had no right to see those kinds of records.

"I don't know."

Fushiguro Toji looked indifferent. Who isn't like that? He mainly wanted to go to the library back then out of boredom, and he had sneaked in to read the collection as storybooks.

"The Four Great Cursed Spirits represent the four most famous and powerful Cursed Spirits in Nippon."

Sugawara no Michizane, Taira no Masakado, Emperor Sutoku,

The first three correspond respectively to The Big Three Families of the Nippon Jujutsu World: the Gojo Family, the Zen'in Family, and the Kamo Family. It is said that they are all descendants of these Cursed Spirits. For example, Satoru Gojo, who possesses the Six Eyes, is a descendant of Sugawara no Michizane, and their family's inherited Limitless Cursed Technique might originate from Sugawara's endless resentment.

The last one is the legendary Super Cursed Spirit Tamamo-no-Mae, the Nine-Tailed Fox.

The previous ones were all humans who became Cursed Spirits after death; this is the only one that was an animal, and the only Super Cursed Spirit killed by ancient Jujutsu Sorcerers.

"The Killing Stone comes from the Nine-Tailed Fox. It is said to be formed from the Nine-Tailed Fox's vital essence and blood, containing its terrifying power."

"The legend states that gathering all the Killing Stone can summon the true Nine-Tailed Fox."

Kenmyo Isayama was slightly stunned. Why would Sister Mei be involved with something so troublesome? What exactly happened before she died?

Since the Killing Stone appeared, Sister Mei's movements stopped. She lay quietly in Kenmyo Isayama's arms, like a doll.

Logically, even a Special Grade Cursed Object shouldn't possess self-awareness. So, did someone interfere and implant this object inside Sister Mei?
