Chapter 10 - 10

Chapter 10

Ella Whitmore

I stepped back until I was backing the door, my back pressed against it so hard, I could break through it… I really wish I could.

The wolf growled in my face… almost silently… too soft for a threat, but still, how could I be calm when I was locked in a house with a giant wolf?

My eyes searched around for an escape route, but none was in sight. I might provoke it if I tried to run one more time, so I gave up. Besides, he could always catch me even before I got out of here.

My breath stilled as it sniffled me, my fingers digging into the door behind me as my back pressed hard against it, eyes locked on the wolf.

It finally backed away, and before I could think of anything, the sound of bones cracking echoed in the atmosphere, and the next second, Kael stood before me… naked… and unashamed.

I slid down the door, crashing to the floor.

Everything I always believed in… My whole reality just crashed in a second.

I was supposed to still be scared… nothing else should cross my mind… my eyes weren't supposed to go down there… I wasn't supposed to have naughty thoughts when maybe I almost just lost my mind, but it did anyway.

My eyes dropped to the long dick hanging in between his legs. It was huge… and inviting, compared to Jasper's.

Oh, fuck! Why am I comparing him to that bastard?!

My nails curled on the ground, digging into the tiles beneath me as heat pooled below my stomach, my core tightening with desire.

My heart pounded, not with fear but wants and desire. Maybe because I hadn't had sex in a while… or maybe I was just crazy.

I'd go for the latter. Who gets horny right after what just happened?

He stepped forward, holding out his hand to me, but my eyes went back to his waist as I swallowed hard.

"Can you… uh… like… uhm… cover up?" I gestured toward his waist, my voice shaky.

"Oh…" he glanced down at his dick. No embarrassment. His face remained plain as he looked back at me, "sure,"

That was it. The only thing I felt before he disappeared was a harsh wind on my face.

He didn't walk… he teleported.

I wonder what's left for me to see.

I was still in the same spot when he teleported back to me.

I sank deeper into the floor, my breath catching in my throat.

He offered me a hand now, and I hesitated before I took it. His hand was so hot that it almost burned against my palm.

He led me to sit on one of the couches.

"Water?"

I shook my head.

He didn't ask another question. He sat beside me.

Silence thickened between us for a moment, before he broke the silence, his voice unusually soft.

He talked about werewolves, the alpha wolves, the betas, the gammas, the omegas, and their abilities.

Alpha wolves have enhanced everything. Their speed, physical strength, heightened senses, and their almost perfect instincts. They're almost indestructible, but not entirely.

Regular wolves have good sense, but aren't infallible.

He also talked about certain chemical substances that can mask their scents, and what can disrupt their abilities.

He mentioned silver. Wolfsbane, and other substances that didn't make sense to me.

My heart pulsed in my ears, fingers fondling each other as I stared quietly the whole time, trying to process everything, but I understood not even a single of everything he said.

"Mine… What did you mean by that?" I wanted to ask, but I didn't. Though I lied to myself that I didn't know what it meant, deep down, I knew I did.

I was his mate… No! I can't possibly be, but that is what he meant when he called me 'his'.

There's no way in hell I, a human, would accept to be with a werewolf.

A loud howl echoed from outside, and I stiffened.

The next second, the howl turned two, and soon, it felt like we were surrounded by wolves.

My chest pounded, cold pooling below my stomach.

"Do you want to take a look?" Kael asked, looking at me, and I blinked, my lips parted, but no words came out.

I didn't say anything… I walked over to the window, my breath catching in my throat at the sight that welcomed me.

The house was surrounded with wolves of different colors and sizes.

As if they'd smelt my presence, their attention shifted to the window, and in half a second, they all gathered before me, snarling at me.

I gasped, backing away from the window, my legs shaking beneath me.

Even though I didn't know what was going on, I knew one thing for sure… I wasn't welcomed here.

And hell no! There's no way I'm staying in the midst of these monsters that could kill me any second.

I turned to Kael, my lips hanging apart, but no words came out. I couldn't form a sentence.

My pulse quickened as Kael approached me, each step rhyming with the pounding in my chest.

What's he up to now?

But just before he reached where I stood, the door flung open, and a young man walked in.

He paused, his eyes flashed gold as they settled on me.

My breath caught in my throat…
