Steam filled the master bathroom, softening the sharp edges of marble and glass beneath a haze of warmth. Water cascaded from the ceiling-mounted shower in steady sheets while droplets gathered along the mirrors and rolled slowly downward. Beyond the fogged glass walls, the penthouse remained quiet, insulated from the city already beginning its workday below.
Galathea rested comfortably against Cael's chest.
Neither seemed particularly interested in leaving.
The tension from earlier conversations had faded into something quieter. Something easier.
For several moments they simply stood beneath the water.
Then Galathea tilted her head slightly and brushed her lips against his. "Husband."
Cael hummed against her mouth.
"Thank you," she said softly.
His arms tightened around her waist. "Mhm."
Galathea smiled. "That's all I get?"
Cael kissed her again before answering. "It's not even nine in the morning and you're already thanking me."
A laugh escaped her.
