Chapter 2 - Raging energy II

The demons and celestials had always lived in conflict, and the reason for the bad blood between them had been lost to history. While the demons tried to avoid any direct scuffle, always trying to make peace in any way they could, the celestials saw them as a stain in the universe that needed to be rid of. After years of direct war and loss, they both decided to sign a treaty, dividing the entire galaxy into two separate pieces. The demons who lived on one half named it the Red Space, pertaining to the crimson hue that their energy emitted.

The celestials also gave their space a naming— the White Space.

The treaty was signed with an agreement that under no circumstances should any opposing race cross the border to the other plane. And if someone was found breaking the treaty, the opposing race was free to execute them.

The celestials had a natural hatred towards the demons because of their opposing nature. They saw themselves as godly and divine beings who were pure, unsullied, and untainted.

But their view on the demons was the direct opposite. They were seen by the celestials as a stain in the universe, a mistake that needed correction, a disease in the universe that needed to be destroyed. The demons never wanted any conflict between the celestials, but they had to defend themselves against extinction.

Several hundred years had passed since the signing of the treaty. The demons lived in peace, there was no contact with the celestials, no scuffles. But the demons knew better. They knew that it was only a matter of time until the celestial decided to evade their homes. This caused the demons to create a system to ensure that every individual was going to increase their demonic rank, thus, growing strong enough to defend their homes when the celestials decided to attack.

Academies were built, dedicated to the demonic growth of an individual. They built several institution that targeted the fast and rapid increase of one's demonic rank, enabling them to get strong enough to defend their homes.

At the age of seventeen, one would pulled out of their homes. They would be sent to the academy for a year with the sole purpose of growing stronger. If an individual had not reached the alpha rank at the end of their first six months, they would be pulled out, deemed as a worthless and progressless person.

This situation made Dean give up on ever becoming someone of importance. He knew that he wasn't getting to the alpha rank due to the emptiness of his demonic energy. It made him give up on life itself.

Until his current ordeal manifested in an unimaginable way.

Dean's eyelids fluttered open, but it didn't get far enough before he quickly regretted returning back to consciousness.

Upon opening his eye lids, he was met with an excruciating, agonizing, exasperating pain in his head. He felt like his skull was about to give in to the minor atmospheric pressure, imploding on itself at any given time. He felt the throbbing sensation pulsating throughout his entire body.

The slightest movement of his muscles made a shooting pain run down his being. Even his heart beat caused a series of pain to pulsate through his chest.

"Fuuuuuuuccckk," Dean groaned in pain.

Dean couldn't deal with the pain any longer, so he decided to use the every day remedy he used whenever his mother would smack him in the face.

After a while, a light red hue could be seen shrouding his entire body. He slowly began to feel the pain subside. It took a while for him to feel like his usual pathetic self, but he eventually did. However, it didn't last for long.

Dean, feeling like the pain was now over, decided to deactivate his channel of energy. The red glow around him dimmed down, until it was no longer visible. But the moment he deactivated his powers, the pain resumed. The constant, ever growing feeling of pulsating and throbbing sensation overwhelmed his body. He could feel an intense strain on his bones, almost like they were about to snap.

Dean quickly channelled once more, the faint red hue of demonic energy encased his being once more. He instantly felt the relief coming back, his tensed muscles relaxed, and the pain diminished.

"Wha… what's happening to me?" Dean thought frantically.

His mind was raging in puzzles. He tried to remember what happened to him, or why he even decided to venture into an unknown place. He pieced it together until the recollection of memories finally dawned on him.

Dean began to remember the white beams of energy that engulfed him, the chilling effect it had, and the stinging pain it made him feel. Dean felt a chill run down his spine as a certain thought flooded his puzzled mind.

"Where did all that energy go? The celestial energy… where did it go?"

Dean looked around, staring at the soil around him. They looked normal, they didn't emit any white hue, they just seemed like a regular sandy soil.

"And why the hell is the pain returning when I stop healing myself!" Dean yelled in confusion, he pulled his hair, feeling like he was going crazy, "what caused the pain in the first place?"

There was an underlying truth that seemed very obvious, but Dean refused to register. He tried to block that thought out of his head, but it just kept on creeping back to the surface.

He came to an unknown place where he stumbled upon a violent wave of celestial energy. The presence of celestial energy in the red space was a big deal, but yet, somehow, Dean was the only person to have seemingly come across it.

The energy reacted to his touch, rising up and engulfing him almost instantly. He went unconscious, and when he woke up, there no was no trace of the energy. Based on Dean's understanding about the negativity of celestial energy, when a demon came in contact with it, it burned them like a pure flame.

Dean had healed himself completely, but he still felt the pain raging through his body when he cancelled his constant healing, and it only meant one thing.

There was something inside of him that kept inflicting constant burns in him, trying to tear through his body, and the only way Dean could keep the pain at bay was to also constantly heal himself over and over.

Dean was horrified at the realization, "could it be…"

"That the celestial energy is inside me?"
